Rude Awakening (1x1 with Peanut)

Posted

As some of you may know, Peanut and I are crazy about Roleplaying, and it's clear, since this is the second one on this site that belongs to us. And we aren't even done with the first one! Regardless, that won't stop us from starting this new roleplay, Rude Awakening!

Kinda dark and mysterious title, eh?

As stated in the title, this RP is one on one, no exceptions. Please refrain from posting in the RP. Instead, follow us on this new journey!

Peanut, my amazing friend, let's begin!

Master Yen Sid nodded once. "Unfortunately, this distraction will lower our forces against the thirteen Darknesses." That was terrible, because as things stood, they had four. Possibly. He had no clue where Roxas's whereabouts were, or if he was willing to fight for them. Things looked terribly bleak right now. "King Mickey's priority is his Kingdom."

"So how many Lights do we have now?" Riku asked, taking a small step toward the man's desk. "Me, Sora, Kairi...Roxas, maybe..." They were short on numbers. They needed seven and had three for sure. And Xehanort only needed one more. They were lagging behind, by a lot. "I know Sora's looking for Ventus and Master Aqua, but...who else is there?"

Master Yen Sid shook his head gravely. "There are no others." There were no other Keyblade wielders in the Realm of Light. And Ven and Aqua, he assumed, were not in this realm yet. If the final battle occurred before they came, then the Light would definitely fall. They needed to hurry and fix this problem.

Riku cursed under his breath, not liking the sound of that. So in short, they were doomed. If they didn't find a few more Lights fast, Xehanort would win the upcoming war. And that was one of the things Riku absolutely dreaded. They had to find more Lights!

"Master Riku," Master Yen Sid, using the young Keyblade Master's title in order to stress the seriousness of this situation. "Can you review what happened in the past few days to me, and me alone?" In other words...He was dismissing Lightning from the room. For now. She could return later.

Riku lifted his eyes to Master Yen Sid and nodded. "Yes." He tore his gaze from the man before him, turning his head to look at Lightning. He motioned to the door a little with his head. He would come back out in a few minutes to get her. This was a conversation between Masters, and Masters alone.
Lightning nodded faintly before taking her leave. She'd sit outside and wait until somebody called her back inside. If she could overhear them, she supposed she'd walk down the stairs some more until she couldn't. This was probably stuff she didn't want to hear anyway. She shut the door quietly behind her and started away a few steps without a word.

Riku summarized the past few days to Master Yen Sid, about running around the worlds to find Xehanort's thirteenth vessel and to escaping Jihl and Cedric a few hours ago. It was an unpleasant recollection, but Riku knew it was necessary to get his points across and fill Master Yen Sid in. What was weird to Riku, though, was how Master Yen Sid kept asking about Lightning. It was as if he was contemplating something about her, which made Riku feel uneasy. He didn't want Lightning dragged into this any further.

Master Yen Sid spent a few moments contemplating everything once Riku was finished speaking. "So, it appears Xehanort only has two candidates for his final position," he said, partially to himself and partially to Riku. "And both of them can protect themselves at least a bit." That was good. Very good. But he still didn't like that Roxas was probably out there alone, defending himself and another person. He was in grave danger. And Lightning, even under Riku's protection, was in danger as well.

"I know Roxas and Namine got out of the Castle, but I don't know where they are now. I haven't seen anyone for the last day or so," Riku explained lowly. He fought his emotions--his worry for his friends and his fear for the situation--because he knew that they would do him no good. Riku had to keep it together.

Master Yen Sid nodded, hearing the emotion in Riku's voice even if he tried to hide it. "Why don't you take a walk?" he recommended. "And send Lightning in. I want to explain to her what Xehanort has in mind for her." She was a normal girl; Riku said that once or twice in the conversation. But that didn't change anything in Xehanort's perspective.

Riku looked at Master Yen Sid in confusion at the suggestion, but he nodded nonetheless. "Right," he said lowly. He would do as he asked. Maybe a breather would do him some good, though he didn't have the energy to actually take a walk around. Riku turned and started out of the room, stepping into the hall and spotting Lightning closeby. "Hey," he said softly. "Master Yen Sid would like to speak to you."
Lightning nodded softly, rising off her step. She saw Riku's expression, which was far from pleasant, but didn't ask what was going on. She wasn't sure that she wanted to know. Little did she know that she was going to hear everything, whether she wanted to or not. As she walked by Riku, she briefly set her hand on his arm before she went into the room with the old Master and heard what he had to say to her.

Riku was gone for a good twenty minutes, pacing the area outside the tower. When he returned, he found Master Yen Sid alone. "Master Yen Sid," he started, stepping into the room after opening the door. "Where's Lightning?" Wasn't she just here? Surely Master Yen Sid wouldn't send her off...

Master Yen Sid motioned over to his left towards a doorway. "She's in the next room over," he said simply. "She desired a moment to gather all I told her." But...he didn't just tell her why Xehanort wanted her. He told her the whole desperate situation, and how he believed she could help them. She could be their seventh Light.

Riku started over to the other door in silence, opening it and stepping in. The room was cluttered with mirrors and fabric, but that was the least of his concerns. He spotted Lightning facing one of the windows, her back to him. "Light?" he called softly. Was she okay?
Light glanced at Riku out of the corner of her eye, but otherwise, she faced away from him and kept her hands on the windowsill to stay balanced. She understood a lot more now. Riku and Sora were taken away from her because Xehanort was rising to power again. They faced him in their dreams, even if they weren't meant to. And that set up two hunts: Xehanort's hunt for another vessel to harbor his heart and the Keybladers' hunt for defenders of the Light. It was all a terrible situation. Worse now that she was brought into it.

Riku took a few steps into the room, letting the door shut behind him. "...What's wrong?" he asked lowly, voice hardening a little in defense. He already suspected it, from the vibe he was getting from her. Lightning was upset about something, whatever it was. And it had to do with what Master Yen Sid just said to her.
Lightning shook her head softly, completely facing the window again. No, she couldn't tell Riku what Master Yen Sid ended the talk with. He would freak out! Light was already really unnerved by it. He said she could save people from pain if she fought in this war. That she could save Riku... That was low from an old Master, using a trick like that to try and convince her to fight.

Riku's eyebrows furrowed at the head shake, and he frowned. "Lightning," he said, encouraging her to talk to him. What did Master Yen Sid tell her? Clearly it was enough to silence her, which wasn't that hard considering all that she went through lately. But still...Lightning was usually one to fight back if something upset her. The fact that she wasn't... It was unnerving.
Lightning heard Riku's tone, and it wasn't happy. But if she could survive her arm being broken in two places and not spill secrets, she could survive Riku's tone of voice. She lowered her head in silence, certain he wouldn't leave until he had some clue as to what was bothering her.

Riku approached Lightning in silence, standing only a few small feet behind her. "Did he tell you something...bad?" he asked, voice low in defense. He wasn't about to let this go. Master Yen Sid was influential, and intimidating. Whatever he said to Lightning, it couldn't have been good by the way she was reacting.
Lightning shook her head softly, though that was a lie. Of course he told her bad things; he told her about the Organization and Xehanort, and that she was going to be hunted. But that wasn't what was bothering her, so that was why she answered "no" to Riku's question.

I'm tired, Lightning, Riku wanted to say. I can't take these secrets. Just tell me... He closed his eyes, releasing a small breath. "Talk to me," he asked of her softly. He didn't want to hear any lies, or see them since she just shook her head. Lightning was lying. He just knew it...
Lightning turned around, her eyes locking onto Riku even if his eyes were shut. She, again, understood the tone, but there was more behind it this time. He was really tired and didn't want to put up with her keeping secrets. "...Sorry," she said weakly, face pale because of everything. But her tone should have gotten across her message. She couldn't tell him what was said to her.
