Rude Awakening (1x1 with Peanut)

Posted

As some of you may know, Peanut and I are crazy about Roleplaying, and it's clear, since this is the second one on this site that belongs to us. And we aren't even done with the first one! Regardless, that won't stop us from starting this new roleplay, Rude Awakening!

Kinda dark and mysterious title, eh?

As stated in the title, this RP is one on one, no exceptions. Please refrain from posting in the RP. Instead, follow us on this new journey!

Peanut, my amazing friend, let's begin!

Light walked over to Riku, feeling the anger radiate off of him. It was amazing how two months apart didn't affect how easily she could sense his anger. But then again, he had been angry for her sake a lot in the past...and she sensed that would continue into the future. Obviously he was ticked off at Master Yen Sid. She stopped by the desk and looked down at the item Riku motioned to, setting a hand on it. It was...armor?

Riku looked from Lightning to Master Yen Sid. "Thank you, sir," he said, voice low. Regardless of their disagreements, he was grateful for the way out of here. And the armor that would keep them safe. Master Yen Sid didn't have to do that, especially after Riku's tantrum.

Master Yen Sid nodded solemnly. When he looked over and attempted to make eye-contact with Lightning, the girl looked away. It was obvious he shouldn't bring up the topic with her or Riku again. Instead, he looked to the Keyblade Master and spoke to him. "Keep her out of enemy hands," he said simply. If they got their thirteen, it was over.

"Way ahead of you," Riku said with a small nod. He bowed to the Master before turning, starting out of the room. He kept his new equipment in his grasp, prepared to try it out once they were outside. This was probably one of the few good things that happened since this whole journey started.
Lightning dipped her head faintly, but only because Riku did the same as he left. She quickly followed him out of the room, eyeing the shoulder-guard in her hand as they descended the building. She had missed the lecture on what to do with it since the fairies were speaking to her, so she'd have to ask Riku what this was all about. For now though, she wouldn't speak unless spoken to.

Once Riku got outside, he descended the small set of stairs and stood in the grass. He stared at his armor, seeing the midnight blue metal with thin lines of silver mixed in. He turned it, seeing the silver button that was supposed to transform the armor. This was supposed to protect him from the Darkness in the Lanes Between? Would it protect him from the Darkness in general?
Lightning noticed Riku studying the armor that he was given, so she took the hint and approached him. She didn't ask what it was for...She assumed that Riku was given the armor piece because he was a Keyblade Master, and Lightning was given one because Master Yen Sid wanted her to be one too. Instead of staring at her own, she looked at his as she stood beside him in silence.

Riku sensed Lightning next to him, but he continued to stare at his armor. After another moment, he lifted his left arm and set it on his forearm, clicking it into place. He flexed his hand once it was one, seeing that it was comfortable. It added a little weight, but it wasn't anything he couldn't handle. He eyed the silver button, eyebrows furrowing a little bit. Now that the armor was attached to him, this would summon the rest of it.
Despite her deductive reasoning, Lightning wanted to know for certain why she and Riku were given these gifts. And whatever happened to getting a Gummi Ship? "...What is this for?" she asked Riku quietly, looking down at the armor she held in front of her rather than looking into his eyes. She didn't want to upset him with dumb questions.

"It protects us," Riku replied lowly, still eyeing his own armor. He took a few steps forward to give himself some distance from Lightning, about to push the button on his armor. He lifted an eyebrow slightly as he gazed at it, but then he smacked his hand against it. He squeezed his eyes shut at the sudden blinding light that surrounded him, feeling weight all over his body. When the light faded, his sight was tinted by the helmet he was wearing, everything tinted black.

Lightning shut her eyes when the blinding light appeared, though she opened them again after a few seconds to see what happened. She did a double-take when she saw Riku clothed in midnight-blue armor. She wouldn't have recognized him if she hadn't seen it happen, since his face was masked as well. Seeing him in armor...made her sad. It reminded her of what he was facing. What she was facing.

Riku's trained ears caught onto the wind snapping something behind him, and when he looked over his shoulder, he saw a silver cape. He didn't think much of it, instead turning to face Lightning. The look on her face confused him. Why was she so sad? Knowing that this wasn't the time or place, Riku nodded to her. She needed to put on her armor.
Lightning looked down at the armor in her hands, not having any desire to put it on. But she didn't feel like explaining that, either. So she wordlessly strapped it onto her left shoulder, feeling a hook on the back of her shirt that helped set it in place. She wasn't exactly sure how this worked, but maybe there was a small button on the armor. Glancing at her shoulder, she thought that she saw it, so she pressed against the armor and was enveloped in light.

Riku only had to narrow his eyes slightly at the light, since his helmet helped to take down the degree. As soon as the light faded, his eyes widened in surprise. Lightning had her own set of armor...and it looked...
When Lightning opened her eyes, her vision was tinted grey. But it was clear to her when she looked down that her armor was silver. There was a small gold emblem on the front, but she couldn't really see the rest of the designing. There was some gold mixed in, both on the legs and on the arms and helmet. It was pretty sleek overall from what she could tell. When she finally looked up at Riku, though, she wasn't sure what to make of his silence.

Riku wasn't sure what to say when he saw Lightning's armor. He wasn't even sure how to describe her. He always knew she was a tough girl, headstrong. The armor seemed to emphasize that, but also represented her agility and speed. It was...interesting.
"...Riku?" Lightning tried softly. She could feel his gaze on her; it was obvious that he was looking her over. Even if she could have seen his facial expression, it probably wouldn't have helped her decipher what he was thinking any better. So he'd have to tell her what was on his mind.

Riku blinked at the call of his name, and when he heard the question behind it, he only shook his head. It's nothing, he thought silently. He summoned his Keyblade to his hand then, remembering what Yen Sid said. Riku should have been able to summon something to transport them with his Keyblade...

Lightning stayed where she was, looking down at the hands that were now gloved. If she would have looked in a mirror, she would have seen that she really looked like a warrior, not just a girl from Destiny Islands. She wasn't sure she would have liked that though. She didn't want to have duty to the worlds like Riku did; she had enough on her hands just taking care of Serah. How could she care for the worlds too?

Riku turned away from Lightning, some distance still between them. Good, he had a feeling he would need some room for this. Riku thought of summoning a mode of transportation, holding his Keyblade in front of him with both hands. But then his heart guided him, his hands acting on their own. He took his Keyblade to his side, pointing it at the ground as the tip glowed, but then he pointed it toward the sky, where a beam of light suddenly shot out and something appeared. A...portal?
Light's eyes widened, her eyes darting to the sky in wonder. What the heck? Where was all this coming from...? First the fancy armor and now portals were appearing in the sky at Riku's command. She was confused in this matter, but again, she didn't ask questions. Now didn't seem like a time for speaking.

Riku knew that the next step was summoning what would take them through the portal, and his heart guided him once again. He twirled his Keyblade with one hand, bringing it to his side before he chucked it into the air. It twirled through the sky before a brief light appeared, and then the Keyblade came down from the sky, but in a new form. It appeared right next to Riku, hovering a few feet above the ground. It was midnight blue like his armor, streaks of silver placed along it. And it was shaped like a bike. Riku couldn't help but smirk at how fitting that was, the name of the vehicle appearing in his head instantly. A Glider.
Lightning's eyes remained wide behind her helmet. The Keyblade just turned into a...thing! A floating bike thing! All this magic and mumbo-jumbo...Did I hit my head sometime? This kind of stuff was so weird to her. Yeah, she knew some magic spells, but this? This was just plain odd.

Riku hopped onto the Glider in silence, grabbing the handles and taking in the feel of it. He could control this... He looked over at Lightning jerked his head for her to climb on. This was their only way out of here, and the portal was still open. That was their path.
This just keeps getting weirder and weirder, Lightning thought, though she approached Riku anyway. She heard her own armor clanking as she walked, and for the first time, she noticed a half-cape that hung from her left shoulder blade down. It was red but outlined in gold to match the armor. She was growing more curious about how she looked, but instead of dwelling on it, she set a hand on Riku's shoulder and got onto the bike behind him.
