Rude Awakening (1x1 with Peanut)

Posted

As some of you may know, Peanut and I are crazy about Roleplaying, and it's clear, since this is the second one on this site that belongs to us. And we aren't even done with the first one! Regardless, that won't stop us from starting this new roleplay, Rude Awakening!

Kinda dark and mysterious title, eh?

As stated in the title, this RP is one on one, no exceptions. Please refrain from posting in the RP. Instead, follow us on this new journey!

Peanut, my amazing friend, let's begin!

Namine was glad Roxas stood in front of her, at least a little bit; she could cower behind him that way. Young Xehanort was...intimidating, to say the least. What others were with him, and where were they? She noted how he said neither of them would get hurt. So Namine was still in danger, just like Xemnas said?

"What do you have planned?" Roxas asked after a few moments, his arm still extended in front of Namine and holding the Keyblade. Going in was the only way this situation could end. The Gummi Ship was not only too far away to flee to, but it was also out of fuel. And Xehanort definitely wouuldn't be letting them free anytime soon.

"You'll find out when we get there," Xehanort said with a small smile. Until then, his lips were sealed. But Roxas should have known the basic idea. He was going to be their thirteenth vessel.

Namine lifted her gaze from Roxas's back to Xehanort, but then she immediately looked away. Those amber eyes... She had seen too many of them in her past, and she didn't want to look at them again. She gazed at Roxas's Keyblade in silence, wondering what her friend was going to do.
Roxas slowly lowered his Keyblade, also summoning it away. "Come on," he said quietly to Namine, starting forward. Either they went in good health and could fight back later or they went in bad health and couldn't fight back. This was their only option now, as bad as it was. Xehanort seemed pleased enough with his decision though.

Namine's eyes widened, her lips parting to call Roxas's name, but...what could she say? Not thinking of anything, she took a few quick steps forward, walking only a little bit behind Roxas. So they were being taken hostage now...and there was no way out of it. Their escape was for nothing.

Roxas saw a portal open up, and he stepped through wordlessly. It was quite a surprise, though, when he was in his old bedroom. There was a hooded member of the Organization standing and guarding the door so that they couldn't escape, so that made this as good as a prison. Why weren't they being taken before Xehanort right away?

Young Master Xehanort followed the two blonds into the bedroom, seeing at least one of them confused. "Regain your strength, Number Thirteen," he suggested. "I'll be speaking to your companion in another room." He needed something of her.

Namine looked over at Young Master Xehanort instantly. He was taking her to another room...but why? What did he need to speak with her about? She knew there was no sense in fighting, so she simply looked to the floor, not saying a word. Fine, she would go. As long as it didn't mean any trouble.
Xehanort heard Roxas grunt in protest, but that was all that he could do. He led Namine out of the room and into another, where there was a sketchpad and pencil waiting for her on a white desk. All the white should have been quite familiar to her; it was very similar to what her room had been in Twilight Town. Her purpose here would be very similar to that.

Namine stopped dead in her tracks once she was only a few feet inside the room. All white, and nothing but a table and a chair. "No..." she whispered in fear. They couldn't make her mess with memories again! She wouldn't do it! She couldn't!
"Sit," Xehanort said calmly, shutting the door behind him and Namine. Clearly she wasn't going to be leaving the room, so it was in her best interest not to test Xehanort's kindness. Anybody else would have been shoving her around, but he was being quite patient with her. For now.

"I don't..." Namine started, her voice failing her as she heard the door shut. She started toward the table slowly, seeing the sketchpad and the pencil. "...I don't understand." She was supposed to mess with memories, that much was obvious. But why? And whose memories would she be toying with? Namine sat down in the chair as directed, though she was far from comfortable. Being in this position was always uncomfortable somehow.
Xehanort stood by the door, though he knew nobody would be coming in to interrupt and Namine wouldn't be fleeing anytime soon. "The thirteenth vessel needs to be capable of accepting Master Xehanort's essence," he said calmly. "As of now, too much of Roxas would protest against it. I need you to change that." And he knew just how to turn the tides of this battle.

Namine stared down at the sketchpad, eyes sad. "...You want me to manipulate him," she said softly. The Organization wanted Namine to use her witch powers to manipulate Roxas's thoughts and feelings, so he would side with the Organization. She couldn't do that... Not to him.
"It's that or death," Xehanort responded, agreeing to Namine's assessment. Yes, they wanted her to manipulate Roxas. But... "I know that is not such a large crime for you," he stated. "You've done it plenty of times in the past." Three times, from what he could recall. One was when DiZ and Riku put Roxas in the fake Twilight Town. The other two times...well, he'd let Namine reflect on those herself.

Namine stared at the sketchpad in silence, not knowing how to respond. Yes, she did do it plenty in the past. She messed with Roxas's memories quite a few times; the first was when DiZ sent Roxas to the fake Twilight Town. The second wasn't too long ago. King Mickey had extracted her and Roxas's hearts from Kairi and Sora, and when that happened, Roxas was a mess. Namine, who turned out just fine from the extraction, had to put the pieces of Roxas's memory back together. But...she messed up, which was why he wasn't the kind Roxas she met in Twilight Town so many years ago; he was the depressed, angry Roxas everyone got to know lately. And after that, she manipulated him so she wouldn't be lonely, bringing him closer to her so she was finally close with someone while the others were gone. It was awful of her...but there was no going back from it.
"Reveal to him the truth, Namine," Xehaort finally ordered, though his voice was just as calm as before. "Reveal to him what happened at the time of his rebirth." How Namine had to go through the chains of memories that remained within his hollow shell in order to make him human again. How she wasn't completely successful and how her mistakes made him to be a very harsh and angry version of himself and not the kind person he was intended to be.

Namine's hands curled into fists against her jeans, the girl hesitating a moment before she shook her head. "No," she said softly. She wouldn't do it. She couldn't do it to Roxas. She had messed with his head too many times now. This was pushing it too far.
Xehanort arched an eyebrow. "Must I repeat myself?" he asked. "Either you do as I say or you die." There were no other options here. Namine was useless to them if she didn't do what they wanted. And if she didn't manipulate Roxas, he'd also be useless. Both Nobodies would be disposed of.

"If I die, you can't make Roxas your thirteenth vessel," Namine said softly. She furrowed her eyebrows, lifting her head to look at Young Master Xehanort. "That's a risk I'm willing to take." She wouldn't put her friend in danger like this, not again. It was bad enough what she did to him in the past. The Organization was asking a lot of her, but she wouldn't do it. If she had to die to ensure Roxas's safety, she would.
"If Roxas isn't our thirteenth vessel, he'll die right after you," Xehanort reasoned. "There is no point in us leaving him alive so that he may fight for our enemies. Shouldn't he know the truth anyway, Namine?" He approached her, kneeling down in front of her as he elaborated. "Wasn't it time he knew what he is?"

Namine glared at Young Master Xehanort, not knowing how to respond to that. He was manipulating her now...and it was working. "You'll hurt him if I do this," she said then. She couldn't let Roxas get hurt... He didn't deserve that, not after what she did to him in the past. And not after all he was to her lately: her protector, her friend.
"He'll stay alive if you do this," Xehanort corrected almost sympathetically. He may have been hurt by the truth, but at least he would be alive. That had to have been better than the other option that he left Namine with. Roxas wouldn't exist any longer without knowing the truth though. It was that simple.

Namine looked away from Xehanort, her eyes now on the sketchpad as she fought tears. She couldn't do this... She would be sending Roxas into a life of hell if she did this. He would side with the Organization and all of her friends would lose this war. Her friends would die, and Roxas would have to live with that for the rest of his life. Namine didn't move, not knowing what to do.
Xehanort stepped away, walking back to the door and standing right in front of it. Pressing and ordering Namine into doing this again wasn't gong to help. She had to make her own decision. But soon, she'd see that she really had no options. Just to convince her... "You'll stay alive as well if you do this," he added. They could possibly use her again in the future after all.

I already told you I would rather die than do this, Namine wanted to say. But it wasn't like she would be heard. Clearly Xehanort was going to give her only one option, and that was to do it. But...she wanted Roxas to live. If she died, so would he. Namine felt a tear leak from her eye as she reached for the pencil and sketchpad. I'm sorry, Roxas.
