Rude Awakening (1x1 with Peanut)

Posted

As some of you may know, Peanut and I are crazy about Roleplaying, and it's clear, since this is the second one on this site that belongs to us. And we aren't even done with the first one! Regardless, that won't stop us from starting this new roleplay, Rude Awakening!

Kinda dark and mysterious title, eh?

As stated in the title, this RP is one on one, no exceptions. Please refrain from posting in the RP. Instead, follow us on this new journey!

Peanut, my amazing friend, let's begin!

Xehanort watched from his spot, a small smile tugging at his lips. Good, Namine, he silently praised. This was very good. It proved that she could be malleable in the future. If given the right circumstances, she would bend to their will. That would be useful if Roxas didn't sway the way they wanted him to with this information.

Namine's powers appeared on their own, the girl beginning to draw instantly. Unlike the times when she drew for fun, her eyes glazed over as her mind traveled elsewhere. She found her connection with Roxas and used it, beginning to bring her friend's hidden memories to the surface. As much as it would hurt him, it needed to be done to save his life.
In a room further away, Roxas had been lying down in the bed. Of course he couldn't sleep while Namine was away; he was worried about her. But his worry soon turned to something else--pain. He grunted roughly, lifting his hands to his head and gripping it tightly. Why did his head suddenly hurt so much...?

Namine silently brought Roxas's memories back to reality, revealing her secret. The entire group's secret. Everyone knew how badly she messed up, and now it was coming back to hurt her. She was paying for it with the act she was doing now. The memories should have been flooding Roxas's mind now, showing him that he was an empty shell when he was reborn, and she was the one who made him into who he was now. The person that was angry all the time, and always shut himself out. She was the reason why he despised being like Sora, because she messed up.
Roxas cried out in pain, curling up on the bed as pictures flooded his mind. He had never been told how he came back into existence. One day, he was just...there. Himself. And he had felt perfectly fine. He hadn't seen any differences in himself. Now they were clear. When Roxas joined Sora, he had been content to do so. When he came back into existence, he despised that idea and, in a way, despised Sora too. He was angry for some reason...and now he knew why. He was angry that he had been born again and wasn't the kind person he was supposed to be. It wasn't his fault though. The fault belonged to...

Namine sketched the scene out on the piece of paper before her, and over time, it showed her and Roxas. But Roxas was asleep as she did her work, reconstructing his memories. Eventually, she moved to another piece of paper, drawing Roxas with angry eyes and a frown; the person he was after she messed up his memories. The angry Roxas that was set on being different from Sora, when he was different all along.
Roxas's eyes shot open at a revelation. It was Namine's fault. She sorted through whatever memories remained in his shell of a body and recreated him. But she didn't do it right. He turned into this person instead, a person that he could hardly stand. He was so...selfish! Obsessed with getting what he thought he deserved because he realized he got something he didn't deserve. This current identity. He wasn't Roxas. He may as well have been somebody else entirely.

Namine continued to draw, moving on from the time when she messed up Roxas's memories. Xehanort wanted her to reveal the truth to Roxas, and he meant all of it. Even what she did most recently, when everybody left the Islands to go on missions. When it was only her and Roxas, and he wasn't as close as she wanted him to be. And Namine had been lonely. She toyed with him, manipulated him into being her best friend.
Roxas's head pounded, the blond sitting up in the bed as he took in the memories, or rather, the knowledge, that came to him. It was no wonder he had a sudden attraction and desire to be by Namine's side; she manipulated him into it! They had been friends, sure. But Roxas had been making friends with some of the other students and had been spending less time with her, so she pulled him back to his side. How could she do this to me?

Namine blinked, her eyes focusing again on the picture before her. It was of Roxas smiling at her, finally being her best friend. But she knew he wouldn't smile at her anymore, not after this. She set the pencil down, closing the sketchpad. "...It's done," she revealed. Xehanort could go on with his master plan. Roxas now hated her.
"Thank you for your cooperation," Xehanort said simply. He opened the door behind him and headed out to check on Roxas, alone. He wouldn't force Namine to face him right away. Knowing his anger, he could lash out against her and kill her. That wasn't something that he wanted to happen.

As soon as Xehanort left the room, Namine pushed the sketchpad away from her and buried her head in her arms. Tears escaped her eyes immediately, sorrow overwhelming her. She didn't want this to happen! She didn't mean to mess up Roxas's memories and make him so hateful, and she didn't mean to hurt him when she wanted him to be her friend. She was just so lonely...
Xehanort reentered Roxas's room, seeing the blond look at him immediately. "How do you feel, Number Thirteen?" he asked. But as soon as he asked the question, he only received a stare in response. Roxas was clearly changed, which meant that Namine did her job well. He now knew the truth, and the truth would only make him more bitter. Bitter enough to join the Organization. "Recover for a while. I'll return." And then he left Roxas alone in his anger.

While Roxas and Namine suffered, Kairi was busy searching the worlds alone. The Star Shard that Master Yen Sid gave her helped guide her along her journey, and so far, it hadn't steered her wrong. Now she found herself in Port Royal, a place she had heard Sora talk about a little too much. His obsession with pirates was cute, but sometimes it was a little extreme. Regardless, she walked through the town, her surroundings dark and mysterious. It was unsettling, but she kept her guard up.
A figure kept himself hidden in the shadows of the town, not to hide from Princess Kairi, but to hide from an entity who was opposite of her in nature. Purely evil. He had been following him around for a while now, trying to figure out what he was planning on doing now that the Keybladers were separated. He still wasn't sure, so he figured he'd wait and watch.

Kairi rounded a corner, but that was when she thought she saw the familiar spiky hair. The silly gravity-defying spikes that belonged to the person she loved. "Sora?" she called, but he took a corner in the town and disappeared from her sight. She instantly took off in a run, wondering just what he was doing here. Surely he heard her...right?

No, Kairi! he wanted to shout. That's not Sora! The young man grunted and ran out of his spot, though he wasn't noticed by anyone in the area. He'd keep up with Vanitas and keep an eye on Kairi at the same time from some place unseen. The last thing that he wanted was for Kairi to be hurt by that maniac.

Kairi sprinted after her husband, rounding the same corner he did and finding him approaching the dock. "Sora, wait!" she called. She saw him come to a stop and turn around, and as she got closer, she noticed that he looked different. His clothes were the same, but his hair...and his eyes... Kairi stopped a few feet away, her expression broken into one of confusion and fear of what happened to the man she loved. "Sora...?"

Vanitas fought the urge to smirk, instead giving the pathetic sad eyes that he knew Sora would. "Kairi..." he said softly, his voice holding sorrow and fear. This was just too easy! "Xehanort...He..."

"He what?" Kairi said, stepping forward and approaching the man she loved. She lifted a hand to his face, cupping his cheek gently. "What happened?"

Vanitas lifted his hand to cover Kairi's, acting just as Sora would in this situation. "I was chasing a person in a black coat, and the next thing I knew, I was in front of Master Xehanort," he said. "He...he made me his thirteenth vessel, Kairi. And now I...I look like this!" He watched Kairi shake her head in disbelief, her eyes stuck on his amber. She had been expecting Sora's bright blue, but now she was facing Vanitas's gold. And she was in for a treat. How gullible the Princess was!

No, Kairi, no! he thought again, hiding behind some of the boxes. He gritted his teeth, seeing just how close Vanitas and Kairi were. Vanitas was playing off her lack of knowledge! She didn't know there was a villain out there who looked just like her husband, and Vanitas wasn't going to tell her that. He was playing the part of Sora to mess with her head... He silently summoned his armor and Keyblade, no sounds or lights being created through the actions. He had to get them apart.

"I'm sorry, Kai," Vanitas apologized softly. He was pulling this off with ease. Sora was so pathetic, so easy to mock. But then again, Kairi was too gullible. "I didn't want you to see me like this..."

Kairi shook her head. "No, Sora, don't," she said softly. She was...heartbroken. How could Xehanort do this?! "It's okay. We'll figure this out... We'll make things alright again." She saw him nod, and then he pulled her in for a hug. She embraced him wordlessly, unaware of the fact that he was smirking now. He squeezed her, gently at first, but then his embrace tightened to where it hurt. "Ngh...Sora," she grunted. That hurt!

Enough was enough. Vanitas clearly wasn't planning on letting Kairi go anytime soon, so he had to make his move now. "Vanitas!" he roared, coming out of his hiding place and swinging his Keyblade at only the villain. He wasn't going to get away with hurting somebody so innocent.

Kairi's world had gone fuzzy, her sight blurry and beginning to spot when the name was called. Vanitas? Who was that? She didn't have time to think about it, suddenly tossed to the side roughly. She landed on her side in the dirt, hearing a Keyblade being summoned. Peeking her eyes open and blinking hard to clear her vision, she thought she saw a new Keyblade...a darker one.

Vanitas blocked his counterpart's Keyblade with ease, smirking at the sight of him. "Well, well, well," he said lowly, looking the blond over. "Ventus. You're a sight for sore eyes. Welcome back." Ventus had been asleep for quite a bit of time now. But then again, so had Vanitas.

Ventus jumped away from Vanitas's Keyblade, backing up so he stood protectively in front of Kairi. He held his Keyblade in his normal grip, prepared for anything that Vanitas could throw at him. He ignored Vanitas's words and spoke to the girl on the ground behind him. "This isn't Sora," he said. "This is Vanitas. He's a member of the Organization." He was no ally of theirs.

Kairi lifted a hand to her head, looking from the boy she thought was her husband to the person who stood in front of her. "...Roxas?" she asked softly. What was he doing here? He was supposed to be with Namine!
Ven couldn't help but smile faintly behind his helmet. "Close," he said. "But no." He wasn't Roxas, but he looked and sounded a lot like him. Not that Kairi saw his appearance yet. "I'll have time to explain later. Right now, we've gotta take care of him." Vanitas probably came here looking for a fight, or something. Ven was never quite sure what to make of his actions.
