Rude Awakening (1x1 with Peanut)

Posted

As some of you may know, Peanut and I are crazy about Roleplaying, and it's clear, since this is the second one on this site that belongs to us. And we aren't even done with the first one! Regardless, that won't stop us from starting this new roleplay, Rude Awakening!

Kinda dark and mysterious title, eh?

As stated in the title, this RP is one on one, no exceptions. Please refrain from posting in the RP. Instead, follow us on this new journey!

Peanut, my amazing friend, let's begin!

Ven laughed warmly, hovering by Kairi. "It's a Glider," he said. "A Keyblade Glider." He was right in his assumption earlier; she didn't seem to have any clue what this was. That was alright though; she'd get her own someday. Probably someday soon, the way that things were looking.

"That's amazing," Kairi said, looking at the Glider up close. So a Keyblade could transform into one of these? That was interesting... She wondered if Riku knew about that, since he was a Master now. But he never mentioned it... Regardless, Kairi looked up at Ventus. "Is it safe?"
"Oh yeah," Ven assured her. Of course it was safe; he had full control of the glider. "Why don't you hop on? I'll take you to whichever world you want to look on for your friends." And, of course, he'd stick around to help her search those worlds. There was too much danger out there for her to travel alone.

Kairi smiled in gratitude. She didn't know Ventus really well, but she could already tell that they were going to be good friends. "Thank you, Ven," she said. She greatly appreciated his help. He didn't have to do any of this, but he offered anyway. He was a good guy.
"Sure thing," Ven said with a smile. He held out a hand for Kairi to take, even if he wasn't hovering too far off the ground. "Hold on tight to me," he said. The Lanes Between were not a good place to get lost, that was for sure. They'd have to be careful.

Kairi took Ven's gloved hand and grunted, hopping onto the Glider with his help. She then wrapped her arms around his midsection, not shy about it at all. He said hold tight, so that was exactly what she was going to do. "Ready," she told him. She learned not to be afraid of things like this; there were much worse things in the worlds than Gliders and heights.

Enjoy the ride, Ven thought silently to his passenger. His smirk remained as he flew to the sky, not just going directly upward like he normally would for Kairi's sake until they were right at the portal. He flew through it and the two of them left that world, appearing in the Lanes Between. He wasn't sure which world they would go to, but hopefully they would find a friend there.

A few days later

Riku stood outside the training room at Disney Castle, leaning against the wall. He and Lightning stayed here the past few days. They needed to recover from all of the torment they experienced, and the King offered to train Lightning. Riku was against it at first, because of what Master Yen Sid told him. But he didn't want Lightning to be defenseless, so he agreed to it anyway. Other than that, things had been good between them. He and Lightning were a couple now, or so Riku liked to believe. The kiss kind of triggered the thought. He was sure she could agree.

Lightning was in the middle of a training session, in a computer-simulated program. She liked this, because she knew for absolute certain that she wasn't hurting anybody. Not that she was afraid of hurting people, necessarily. Just certain people...like her father. As angry and hurt as she was by him, she still didn't think she'd have the guts to kill him. She pointed her gunblade at a heartless that appeared, shooting a bullet and hitting in the dead center of the head. She had good aim.

Riku glanced over at Donald and Goofy, who were chatting nearby in the hall. The King wasn't too far off, probably observing Lightning in training. Riku knew she had a lot of agility and kept a cool head (most of the time). She would be fine. He just didn't want her to be one of the seven Lights. If that were true, she would have to battle Xehanort. Riku didn't want her anywhere near that man. He was bad news.
Lightning skillfully spun on her feet to avoid a sword that had come at her before she smacked the Nobody away. During the past few training sessions, there have been enemies added. At first it was just Heartless. Then Unversed. Nobodies were introduced last lesson. And something new was going to be added this time around. She heard a noise behind her, so she pivoted on her feet again and swung the sword to cut off the Nobody's head...Until she realized that it wasn't a Nobody. She pulled back on her sword when it was right next to the hooded figure's neck. ...Simulation or not, she couldn't kill a "person".

Cedric stared at his daughter from behind the shadow of his hood. Maleficent managed to damage the Cornerstone of Light in this world, and because of that, Cedric was allowed access to the Kingdom. He stared at his daughter, remaining still until she withdrew her sword. He could tell by her expression that she was hesitating. She was stronger than when he last saw her, but still weak. She couldn't even kill off a "simulation" of a person.

Lightning grunted, frowning as she looked down and over at the ground. She was...ashamed. She was still too weak to do it, yet she felt so much pressure to do it. She pulled the sword away from the neck and pointed it at the chest briefly before she lowered it completely. Sorry Riku, she thought silently, looking over at where the observing room was. He ordered to kill the other day and she couldn't do it then. And now she didn't have the stomach to do it when it was just a computer program. How pathetic.

Riku lifted his eyes when he thought he sensed a gaze, and he was right in his assumption. Lightning was looking toward the one-way mirror to the observation room. He could see her, but she couldn't see him. Regardless, he pushed himself away from the wall and approached the window. He recognized the look of sadness in her eyes, of self-pity. Why was she so upset? Because she couldn't hurt the simulation of an Organization member? Riku eyed the hooded figure, knowing that they were part of the program, but faces were not. That was why he grunted when the hood was drawn back, revealing Lightning's father. "Cedric?" he gasped. What was he doing here?!
Lightning grunted again when the face was revealed. "Alright, now they're just being cruel," she muttered, taking a few steps away and turning her back to the figure. They put a simulation of her father into the program? This was a mean test. They hadn't even put in people in black coats until just now. With the hoods up, they were a little less human. But only a little. This...her father was perfectly human. Evil, but human.

Cedric heard a bang against the one-way mirror, and he only smirked. "Bad choice, sweetheart," he said lowly. Turning her back to him was always a bad move. He launched forward instantly, grabbing Lightning and restraining her, his arms wrapped tightly around her as he pointed his own gun at her head. No sudden moves.

Riku tried banging on the mirror to warn Lightning, but it clearly wasn't enough. "Your Majesty!" he cried. "The Organization!" He heard Donald quack from outside in alarm, obviously hearing him since the door to the observation room was open to the hall. Regardless, Riku booked it out of there, knowing that he had to make it to the training room soon, especially since other Organization members were arriving and surrounding Lightning.

Lightning's eyes widened at the figure wrapped their arms around her...and called her "sweetheart." That was when it clicked. "...You're real," she said weakly, glancing up at him as she saw a fourth member of the Organization appear out of the corner of her eye. How was this possible? Donald Duck had bragged about how safe their world was, and how no great force of Darkness could appear suddenly...

Cedric only chuckled, looking around at his comrades. "We're all real, Claire," he said, keeping his gun pointed to her head. "No sudden movements. We'd like you to come quietly, but I have a feeling your boyfriend has other ideas." The bang on the window was an alert to Lightning, but also to the Organization. Riku was coming to save the girl he cherished, but Cedric cherished his daughter as well. She was coming with him, conscious or not.

Lightning's eyes were wide, her heart pounding. He said "no sudden moves", but it wasn't as if she could move much anyway. "I just keep getting more pathetic, don't I?" she muttered. First she couldn't take what she thought to be a copy of him down, and now she was his hostage again. Whatever progress she made over the past few days seemed lost now.

"You just don't know your strength yet, sweetheart," Cedric said with a smirk. He looked down at his daughter, still restraining her. "But I'll teach you how to channel your true strength. All you have to do is surrender." Then they could take her to their headquarters and have her channel the Darkness within her. It would be that simple.

Lightning looked down at the ground, her eyes softening from anger to fear. "...Riku," she said underneath her breath. Maybe he hadn't been watching after all. Maybe nobody knew that she was in trouble here. No--he must have known! He watched all her previous training sessions... It was just taking a while to hack the room. It wasn't supposed to open until she was done with her task. That was the problem...

"Screw it!" Riku said, giving up on the program. He had been trying to hack the system for the past few minutes, but he was getting nothing. He would have to get through the old-fashioned way. He approached the door and threw his body against it, having to do it multiple times. He wouldn't let the Organization get her. Lightning wouldn't be their thirteenth vessel!

Cedric looked to the door, his smirk still present. "Your hero's here," he told his daughter. He was trying to break the door down, but the portal was summoned behind Cedric already. Riku was going to be too late.

Lightning hitched a breath, turning her head towards the door. Wait...she had the freedom to do that now? Cedric's grasp on her loosened! Her next actions were instinctive. She ducked and kicked her father's shin at the same time, tightening her grasp on her gunblade. She couldn't break free with his current hold, but if he loosened his hold, maybe she could get away...But since when had things worked to her advantage?

Cedric grunted in pain, naturally having to step back because of the kick to the shin. "You little...!" he cursed, looking to Lightning in anger. He brought his gun up to swing at her head, but that was when the door swung open, banging against the wall. He turned his head sharply, witnessing the Keyblade Master roll in from throwing his weight into the door.

Riku didn't hesitate rolling forward and to his feet, instantly swinging at the other Organization members. He was pleased to see that they were only simulations, so with a Thunder spell he took them out. He wasn't about to let Lightning be taken hostage again, especially by Cedric. Riku swore to protect her, and that was exactly what he was doing.

Lightning swung around, her weapon now in gun form as she pressed the end of it against Cedric's chest. She looked at him underneath furrowed eyebrows, both hands on the hilt but one finger on the trigger. This was her chance to redeem herself. She had a chance to kill the man who murdered her mother...
