Rude Awakening (1x1 with Peanut)

Posted

As some of you may know, Peanut and I are crazy about Roleplaying, and it's clear, since this is the second one on this site that belongs to us. And we aren't even done with the first one! Regardless, that won't stop us from starting this new roleplay, Rude Awakening!

Kinda dark and mysterious title, eh?

As stated in the title, this RP is one on one, no exceptions. Please refrain from posting in the RP. Instead, follow us on this new journey!

Peanut, my amazing friend, let's begin!

Riku didn't make eye contact immediately, but when he did, his eyes were hard with seriousness. "Sora, Kairi, Roxas, Master Aqua, Ventus, me, and you," he said then. "That makes seven. At the rate things are going, we're not gonna have time to find another Light. If you want to fight for us, I want to train you. No one else." It was incredibly important to be prepared for this. "The battle we fought earlier? The next time we see all of them, it's going to be ten times worse. It won't be a battle, Lightning. It's going to be a war, and you need to be ready."
Lightning glanced away, taking it all in. If Riku trained her, at least she'd be able to handle things better than she did earlier when the four Organization members appeared. Maybe more training would also prepare her to...kill. She knew Riku didn't want it, but the fact that it was going to be a war meant that killing would be involved. If it came down to killing or being killed, the answer was obvious. Serah wasn't going to lose her last remaining family. She looked back at Riku with serious eyes, nodding faintly. She understood.

Riku nodded a little in return, his eyes on Lightning's. "We'll start tomorrow," he told her softly. It was already late, so it would be stupid of them to start now. Lightning would need her rest for training the next day. If Sora were here, Riku was sure he would say that she needed her sleep as well; Riku didn't take these kinds of things lightly.
Light nodded softly, leaning forward and gently connecting her forehead with Riku's. "Alright," she said softly, lowering her gaze down to his lips naturally. But then she thought of something else that made her eyes dart back up to his. "Everyone else in the seven is a Keyblade wielder," she said. Did that mean...she had to be one too?

"That's right," Riku said, looking at Lightning as she gazed at him. "I don't know if that's some kind of sign, but..." But they would have to figure it out later. Riku wasn't sure how Lightning could be a Keyblade wielder. Unless Master Yen Sid did something he didn't know about.
"I'll need to be one for the fight, won't I?" Lightning asked quietly. She was certain she wasn't a Keyblade wielder now; how could she have gotten a Keyblade without knowing it? It seemed like the type of thing that would be extremely obvious. So she had to find a way to get a Keyblade, which she wasn't sure how to do.

"I don't think so," Riku replied, closing his eyes. "You have your gunblade... That should be enough." Of course, Riku used the word "should." He wasn't entirely sure himself, but...wouldn't Master Yen Sid have said something? Weren't their rules to this kind of thing? "...Not all of the Darknesses wield Keyblades. I don't see why there would be a rule for it."
Lightning hummed, shutting her eyes as she lightly touched her nose to Riku's. That was good, she supposed. But at the same time, it didn't make a real difference. She was mixed up in this along with six other Keyblade wielders and now was recruited to fight to save the worlds. She shared their responsibility but not their weapon. At this point, the responsibility was her biggest concern.

"Focus on surviving and winning," Riku told Lightning then. That was all that mattered right now. He rubbed his nose against Lightning's gently. "The rest will follow." Hopefully, anyway. Riku didn't want to really think about what could happen if they lost, what happened after death.
Lightning nodded her head ever so slightly. "Any other advice?" she asked quietly. She'd follow it, since she really didn't know what to expect. This was going to be horrible though. Seven against thirteen, and the members of the thirteen she met were extremely strong. How did they even stand a chance?

Riku finally opened his eyes, looking at Lightning as he lifted a hand to her cheek. "Have faith," he told her simply. That was the biggest thing. If their hearts were strong, they could get through this. And win. Their hearts never failed them before.
Lightning opened her eyes and looked into Riku's, that being her response. She'd try to have faith. It'd be easier as she grew more confident in her strength. Each person would probably take on two enemies at once...Whose would hers be? Ansem? Jihl? ...Her dad? All of them were very deadly.

Riku read the look in Lightning's eyes and accepted it. Right now, that was all he was asking for--her faith. He leaned in and pressed a gentle kiss to her lips. All of this mess would start getting easier tomorrow, when Riku began Lightning's training. He would make sure she was ready for the upcoming war.
Lightning shut her eyes and gently kissed Riku back, her thoughts the same as his. Tomorrow was going to be a big day with training. It'd set the mark of really preparing her not just to defend herself, but to go on the offensive. To help win a hopeless war.

The next day

Riku sent another Dark Aura spell at Lightning, letting Lightning practice her dodging and deflecting abilities. This had been going on for a couple hours now, and he knew she was tiring out. But he kept on pushing her to keep going. Xehanort wouldn't give any breaks.

Lightning did a flip to the side, at the same time managing to get a good shot off at Riku. For the sake of training, her gun had blank bullets in it instead of real--bullets were more deadly than these spells that Riku was sending at her, even if they weren't softened for her sake. Riku was really pushing her in today's training, which was focused on dodging things from a distance. It was more exhausting than she expected originally.

Riku dodged the blank bullets, something an enemy was likely to do. When he was crouched on one knee, he sent another spell at Lightning with a cry. She was doing well. Her agility definitely helped her with dodging attacks. And with this kind of training, she would only get better at it.

Lightning felt a thunder spell rain down, and this was one she literally couldn't dodge. She lifted her sword and blocked one of the bolts, grunting roughly when the shock went from the sword to her arm. She dropped the sword and grasped her arm, though she immediately scolded herself. How could she let go of the weapon so easily?!

Riku saw what happened, and to teach Lightning a lesson, he teleported behind her. He wrapped an arm around her upper torso and put his Keyblade against her back, just letting the tip touch her sleeveless vest. That was her biggest mistake right there, losing her weapon. No matter what the circumstances were, she couldn't let go of it.
Lightning panted heavily, feeling the tip of Riku's Keyblade against her back and his arm around her front. Clearly it was over, and even more clear was the fact that she lost. She shut her eyes, feeling a drop of sweat trickle down the side of her face. This was her punishment for dropping the weapon, obviously.

Riku looked down at Lightning, his eyebrows furrowed in seriousness. "Dead," he said simply, then releasing her and backing off. That was exactly what she was right then. All of the Xehanort remnants had teleportation abilities. She had to be aware of that. He just demonstrated what they would do if she didn't watch herself.
Lightning furrowed her eyebrows, body tense as she remained still except the heaving of her chest. I already know that, she wanted to snap. Cut me some slack. It was her first day going against Riku. She couldn't be expected to be perfect against a Keyblade Master. He was a good teacher and all with making her work, but he was pushing her buttons too.

"Go again," Riku said, stepping past Lightning to go to the other side of the room. She was good against the simulations, but that was just what they were, simulations. Fake. Data. She needed to realize what fighting a real person was like.
Lightning glared at Riku halfheartedly, though she did bend down and pick up her gunblade again. Unfortunately, she didn't know healing spells yet, so she hadn't been Cured once since this session started. She was exhausted and wanted to stop, but she wouldn't say so. She wouldn't be weak.

Riku turned and faced Lightning, his grasp on his Keyblade loosening and then tightening in preparation. He set his footing and then swung his Keyblade at her from across the room, sending a Fire spell in her direction. Good thing Sora wasn't here; he probably would have told Lightning to be prepared for this merciless training. If that were the case, she wouldn't want to do it. That wasn't option, since she needed to in order to survive.
