Rude Awakening (1x1 with Peanut)

Posted

As some of you may know, Peanut and I are crazy about Roleplaying, and it's clear, since this is the second one on this site that belongs to us. And we aren't even done with the first one! Regardless, that won't stop us from starting this new roleplay, Rude Awakening!

Kinda dark and mysterious title, eh?

As stated in the title, this RP is one on one, no exceptions. Please refrain from posting in the RP. Instead, follow us on this new journey!

Peanut, my amazing friend, let's begin!

Lightning did a flip over the fireballs, easily landing on her feet. She could have sent a few shots at Riku then, but since this was focused on her just dodging, she didn't bother doing it. A shot every now and then was good, but for now, she was just going to focus on avoiding powerful magic.

Riku sent a Blizzard spell and a Dark spell back to back at Lightning, expecting her to dodge them from where he stood. He didn't need to tell her which way to jump or roll; she could decide that on her own. He wanted her to get comfortable with judging those types of things.
Lightning grunted, jumping backwards and seeing the ice and dark fire combine where she had previously been standing. It created a mist that went over the room. She remained as quiet as she could, the fog so strong and thick that she couldn't see Riku anymore. He would try to sneak up on her in this...

Riku saw the fog appear, and he smirked. C'mon, Light. I know you can handle this, he thought silently. Rely on your other senses. He teleported behind her, then taking a swing at her with his weapon. Block it, like I know you can.
Lightning heard the soft sound of a sword swinging behind her, and she didn't block it like Riku wanted her to. Instead, she jumped forward and swung around, pointing her gunblade at his left breast and shooting off one of the blanks. It was close-range, so his defenses should have been lowered.

Riku grunted at the impact of the blank, but he was pleased nonetheless. "Nice shot," he said in the fog, Lightning out of his field of vision. He listened for her footsteps, remaining where he was. He was curious as to what she could do when her sight was restricted.
Lightning silently stepped backwards, trying to think. This fog was definitely in Riku's favor; he could smell her wherever she was and teleport by her. He could do that before, but at least she could see him then. She needed a way to clear this fog and a way to finally come out on top. She was sick of Riku's mean training methods.

Riku closed his eyes, instead focusing on his hearing and sense of smell. He couldn't hear Lightning's footsteps, but her scent... That was obvious. He fired off a Thunder spell silently, focusing on where Lightning was located. Not too far off, he was sure.
Lightning looked up when she saw a bolt of lightning strike the ground by her, the young woman jumping to the side and avoiding the majority of the spells except for one that burned a whole in her jeans. She winced, holding the gunblade by her side as she kept thinking. She didn't know any wind spells to knock it away, but maybe a fire spell could evaporate the fog further? It was her only hope since that was the only magic she knew.

"C'mon, Lightning," Riku called, moving silently through the fog. "Is that all you've got?" Silence, of all things? She could do better, that much Riku knew. Sneak up on me. Do something to show me that you can handle this.
There. Lightning flexed her free hand and opened it in the direction of the voice, sending a large fireball Riku's direction while she ran away from the spot she launched it from. Riku would scold her if she stayed there; her firing spot gave away her location so that he could sneak up on her and take her down yet again. Even if moving quickly made some noise, it was better than the alternative.

Riku turned his head sharply, seeing the bright light from the spell coming his way. He dodged it with a roll to the side, and once he was back on his feet, he listened for the footsteps. "Good, Light," he said in encouragement. She wasn't staying still, which meant no one would be able to tell her location from the fireball. However, he was able to locate her because of her footsteps, and with that, he sent a Blizzard spell in her direction.
Lightning noticed the ice when it was right in front of her, and she didn't have time to dodge it. She lifted her sword and grunted, looking down and seeing that it was coated in ice now. She definitely couldn't get it out of the sword mode now, which she supposed was okay for now but still not in her favor at all.

Riku heard that grunt and closed in, using quick footsteps. He cried out as he swung at Lightning, his footsteps having been enough of a warning that he was coming. If she didn't block his sword, she better have dodged it. Or she would get hurt.
Lightning lifted her sword instinctively, also leaning back as Riku's Keyblade came down. She grunted roughly when the weapon in her hand shattered halfway and the tip of Riku's blade scratched her cheek vertically, deep enough to draw a little bit of blood. But her concern was elsewhere. The gunblade!!

Riku was close enough to Lightning to see the gunblade become just a gun, and that was when he looked at her. "Looks like you're stuck with bullets," he said then. Without a second's hesitation, he swung at her again, putting her back on the defensive. She had to be prepared for anything, including something like this.
Lightning was so startled she jumped backwards right away instead of even trying to dodge, stepping back without her usual grace. She looked down at the weapon in horror, seeing the remaining segment also frozen. She couldn't block with this; it'd shatter too! This sword represented her hopes and dreams and strength. She put so much work into it and now it was probably broken beyond repair. How could Riku do something like that to something so important to her?

Riku teleported behind Lightning, but instead of swinging at her with his sword, he crouched to the ground and swung his foot at her legs. She wasn't paying attention to the enemy, which in this case would be Riku. Instead, she was worrying about her weapon. Right now, she had to focus on "surviving."
Lightning stumbled forward to avoid Riku's swinging leg, stepping on the remains of her shattered sword and hearing the pieces crunch between her feet. The horror was accompanied by anger now, not that Riku was going to notice. She was sick of this training session. Riku was being too heartless.

Riku saw Lightning stumble, but he didn't show any mercy. Before this training session started, he told her to be prepared for anything. When he said "anything," he meant anything. Right now, she needed to be prepared to defend herself. Riku rose to his feet and spun, grunting as he pulled off a roundhouse kick. Of course, he planned on Lightning blocking it to some degree.
Light grunted roughly, feeling a force impact the side of her head quite suddenly. She lost balance and fell onto her side and some of the shattered pieces of her sword, which had no problem embedding themselves into her bare arm. Thankfully her head landed where there were no shards, or else that could have been terrible. The remaining piece of her weapon clattered on the ground as her head impacted the floor, everything fading away and then disappearing completely with her consciousness.

Riku saw the girl fall to the ground, and he blinked in disbelief. "Lightning?" he said, and when she didn't move, he dropped his Keyblade and hurried to her side. He picked her up and held her as the fog finally began to disperse, looking down at the girl in his arms. "Lightning, look at me." When she didn't, Riku cursed under his breath. You actually knocked her out, idiot. Nice move.
Lightning was faintly aware that she was being picked up, also feeling the pain in her arm and head. A few spots of her arm were bleeding now because of the shrapnel, and she still had a streak of blood on her cheek from when the tip if Riku's blade cut her. It was hard to ignore the pain in such a light stage of unconsciousness. She winced in pain, starting to come back to even if she was only out for half a minute.

Riku heard Lightning wince, but instead of staying still, he lifted her into his arms completely and started out of the training room, away from the fog. Once they were out in the hall, he could see what exactly he did to her. He knew he kicked her in the head; that much was obvious...and terrible at the same time. He thought she would have blocked it...
Lightning's head fell on Riku's shoulder, her bleeding arm hanging down in front of her and Riku as he took her out of the darker room. She was tired and just wanted to sleep, so she was having a hard time bringing herself back enough to converse with Riku and tell him she was alright. At the same time, she felt angry with him for some reason. Why was that again?
