Rude Awakening (1x1 with Peanut)

Posted

As some of you may know, Peanut and I are crazy about Roleplaying, and it's clear, since this is the second one on this site that belongs to us. And we aren't even done with the first one! Regardless, that won't stop us from starting this new roleplay, Rude Awakening!

Kinda dark and mysterious title, eh?

As stated in the title, this RP is one on one, no exceptions. Please refrain from posting in the RP. Instead, follow us on this new journey!

Peanut, my amazing friend, let's begin!

Riku walked just outside the room and placed Lightning against the wall, doing so gently. The garden was closeby, just behind Riku, so there was some fresh air to help Lightning come to. He brought a hand to one of hers, lifting her injured arm carefully to inspect the wound. The pieces of her gunblade were stuck in her skin, which meant Riku would have to pull them out. Great.
Lightning winced again, both in pain and at the memory. That's what it was. Riku was pushing her buttons in training and he pushed one too many. Her gunblade was destroyed...She had considered it her most prized possession, and now it was gone. Not completely though; some of it was still with her. In her arm. She furrowed her eyebrows and gritted her teeth, keeping her head lowered in annoyance, anger, and sadness.

"Shh," Riku shushed Lightning gently, still examining her arm. He took her wince as one of pain, especially from the pieces of the weapon in her arm. "I'll get it out." It would sting a little, but that was the price that needed to be paid in order to be free of the pain. It wouldn't be pretty...just like Lightning's blood.
Lightning felt her blood boil at Riku's change. Why couldn't he be more sensitive two minutes ago?! "Back off," she said lowly. She didn't care about her arm or the metal in it. She didn't care about the cut on her cheek or the fatigue. What she cared about was going back into that room and seeing how much of her gunblade remained intact.

Riku still had a hold of Lightning's hand when he heard the order, and he lifted his eyes to her in confusion. "What?" he asked softly. Back off? What for? He was just trying to help her out. It was his fault she got hurt in the first place.
"Yeah," Lightning said, eyebrows furrowed as she lifted her head and looked up at Riku. He looked confused, but she wasn't. She meant what she said, and just so that Riku knew that, she repeated herself. "Back off." The shards in her arm were going to wait for now. Though when she looked down and saw how bad it was, she realized putting it on hold wasn't the best idea.

Riku furrowed his eyebrows at the order. "What about your arm?" he asked. The metal in her arm wasn't exactly something to go ignored. He needed to stop the bleeding, and he imagined the pain as well.

"It can wait two minutes," Lightning stated simply, setting her free hand on the ground as she began to push herself to her feet. They were right outside the training room, so she'd go back in and see the state that her gunblade was in. If it was completely destroyed, she wasn't sure what she'd do. She couldn't exactly remake it from scratch...

Riku gazed up at Lighting when she rose to her feet, but then he followed suit. He wasn't sure what she planned on doing, but he clearly wouldn't be able to stop her. She seemed set on something.

Lightning set a hand on the wall to balance herself, shutting her eyes briefly at the pain in her arm. Yet after a moment, she started back to the training room, sliding her hand over the wall lightly just to make sure that she was balanced after being knocked out. That was an issue she'd talk about with Riku later. As she went into the training room, she walked out onto the floor and knelt down where she fell, seeing that her gunblade didn't shatter anymore when she dropped it. That was good, but it was still in awful shape.

Riku stood in the door and watched Lightning in silence, aware that there was nothing to say in this situation. Clearly she was upset with him. And he knew it had to do with the destruction of her weapon, which was in pieces on the floor.

Lightning reached her arm towards the broken weapon--her bad arm. She immediately regretted the decision at the great amount of pain she felt. She cringed and lifted a hand to that arm, lowering her head as she gritted her teeth. Alright, maybe she should have taken the scraps out of her arm before anything else. Because the emotional pain of seeing her shattered weapon didn't combine well with the physical pain.

Riku took a step into the training room. "You sure you don't want me to heal your arm?" he asked lowly. Clearly her arm was hurting her. He could heal it, but he doubted Lightning wanted any of that.

Lightning turned her gaze to Riku, her anger remaining and coming out. "Oh, no, it'll be fine," she said. "Let's just get back to training. A shattered weapon shouldn't stop a training session, so why should a bleeding arm?" She was being sarcastic now, obviously. The only reason Riku stopped training was because she was knocked out, not for any other reason. He was an unkind teacher.

Riku rolled his eyes, taking a few more steps into the room. "I offered to help you, and now you're gonna give me lip?" he said, lifting an eyebrow as he gazed at the girl he cared so much for. He didn't appreciate the attitude, not for what he was doing to help her.
Lightning lowered her gaze to her arm, extending it in front of her and seeing where the shards were stuck in. "I guess the silent treatment will work just as well," she piped. Until Riku took the hint and stopped acting so cruel, she'd inflict her punishment in the form of silence. She pinched a piece of shrapnel between her thumb and index finger, wincing faintly as she began to pull it out. This was something she'd have to do without Riku's help if she was going to give him attitude.

Riku simply frowned, eyes narrowing a little as he looked at Lightning. Unbelievable, he thought in disbelief. She was actually giving him lip because he offered to help her? This was about her weapon, no doubt, but it was just what happened. Riku didn't mean to destroy it. As if he would want Lightning to be weaponless.
Lightning pulled out the piece of metal before moving onto another one, feeling Riku's serious and angered gaze on her. If you're going to glare, just go, she would have said if she were speaking to him. Having him stand there and seethe wasn't going to do either of them any good, especially when this whole ordeal was making her dizzy.

Riku looked from Lightning to the remains of her weapon, starting toward it in silence. He knelt down once he was near it and gently fingered the frozen pieces. He guess there was a lesson learned here; blocking Blizzard attacks was a bad idea. He hoped that next time Lightning would dodge one, especially with the Organization involved.
Lightning lifted her hand and knocked Riku's away from her weapon (or its remains), that hand having some blood on it now because she had been using it to pick out shards. And that was what she continued to do afterward. The gunblade was important to her, and seeing it just shatter had her torn up, not that Riku was noticing.

The hit was the last straw for Riku. Lightning should have known better; he wasn't one to be pushed around. "If you're going to get aggressive, we might as well include it in training," he said. "The angrier you are, the more you'll fight back." He could use that to his advantage in this case, and so could Lightning.
I'm more than angry, idiot, Lightning thought, hissing as she pulled out a large shard of metal. I'm sad. The fact that it was a gift from her father wasn't what made it important to her. It was the fact that she put a lot of time and effort into making this weapon. It was her own and represented her strength, pride, and dreams. The fact that it shattered wasn't okay.

Riku stepped forward, grabbing Lightning's hand and pulling it away from her arm. She didn't have a piece of metal, so he wouldn't hurt her any. He was sick of her pulling that out. He would do it, and he would cure her immediately after. "Lightning."
Lightning looked up at Riku behind furrowed eyebrows, remaining silent even if he kept on speaking to her. She did say she would be giving him the silent treatment; she couldn't back down now. While she was feeling a mix of sadness and anger, she knew that Riku was just angry.

"Let me do it," Riku said slowly, his voice low as he gazed at Lightning. He kept his eyebrows furrowed, sure that the look in his eyes would tell her all she needed to know. He didn't want any messing around, nor did he want attitude. There wasn't time for that anymore.
