Rude Awakening (1x1 with Peanut)

Posted

As some of you may know, Peanut and I are crazy about Roleplaying, and it's clear, since this is the second one on this site that belongs to us. And we aren't even done with the first one! Regardless, that won't stop us from starting this new roleplay, Rude Awakening!

Kinda dark and mysterious title, eh?

As stated in the title, this RP is one on one, no exceptions. Please refrain from posting in the RP. Instead, follow us on this new journey!

Peanut, my amazing friend, let's begin!

Riku leaned forward a little, speaking in Lightning's ear. "You're getting better," he said with a faint smile. He was proud of her. It took a little while, but she was doing it. He then moved to her side, staying only a few inches away as he moved to her front. But he held his breath, that way she couldn't feel him breathing on her when he was so close.
Lightning couldn't even sense if Riku was blocking the sunlight or not; she couldn't see anything at all with the blindfold and her eyes shut. Yet now that Riku was so close, that feeling inside was screaming at her again, warning her that he was still nearby. The feeling obviously was alerting her that he was close, but not just anywhere. He was... "Right in front of me." He wasn't breathing, wasn't making a sound, but she could feel some of his warmth again.

"Hm," Riku hummed with the same faint smile. Lightning was improving...quickly. "Don't ever let someone get this close," he told her, voice strict as his smile faded. "Ever." If she did, it could cost her her life. That wasn't something Riku wanted her to risk.
Lightning nodded faintly in silence. That was obvious. If she let an enemy this close, she'd probably die unless she had some great stroke of luck. She couldn't even get her weapon between her and Riku right now, that was how close he was to her. On the battle field, this was where an enemy would deal the final blow.

Riku tilted his head a little, his eyes on the bindfold. "Want to keep going?" he asked. Lightning could keep trying, or they could take a break. They had been at this for at least an hour now. If she wanted to try something else, he was all ears.
"You decide," Lightning said softly. Riku was the trainer, and she was the trainee. He would decide on what was best here and she'd follow until she couldn't anymore. Was Riku even satisfied with how she was doing today? Was she doing as well as he expected? He told her that she was doing well earlier, but what if he just said that to be polite?

Riku gazed at Lightning for a moment, keeping his place right in front of her. She gave him permission to decide what to do, and he knew exactly what he wanted since the night before. To do that, he would only touch her with one part of his body, and it wasn't his hands. He leaned forward, connecting his lips with Lightning's in silence.
Lightning briefly opened her eyes behind the blindfold, confused. She wasn't necessarily startled, because she heard Riku take in a breath when he leaned in to kiss her. But after a moment, she decided to ignore her feelings of confusion. Her eyes flickered shut once more as she kissed Riku back, being as gentle as he was.

Riku lifted his hand to rest on Lightning's waist, bringing her a little closer as that hand went to rest on her lower back. He wanted to kiss her for a while, ever since their argument. He felt...awful for the things he said, about telling her to go join the Organization. That was the last thing he wanted, and that was why they were here. Neither of them wanted the Organization to get to her. Because of that, Riku was also proud of her. She was fighting back, and that was the Lightning he knew from the very beginning.
Lightning's heart leaped when Riku pulled her closer, and her next actions came so naturally that she forgot that she was wearing a blindfold at all. She lifted her arms and wrapped them lightly behind his neck, hoping that they could continue to share this intimacy even if they were in the middle of training.

Riku fought the urge to smile, continuing to kiss Lightning as he lifted his other arm. He wrapped it around her, setting one hand beside the other on her lower back. He was glad he could finally do this freely. He remembered how many times they nearly kissed in the past, and how badly he wanted to after he left for the Mastery Exam. He guessed now he was making up for lost time.
When the kiss ended, Lightning kept her face close to Riku's. Even if she would have opened her eyes, she wouldn't have been able to see him from the blindfold. That was why she simply kept her eyes shut. And a part of her was fighting against getting her hopes up. They were going to go back to training now, weren't they?

Riku brushed his nose against Lightning's, though he then opened his eyes. "That was your reward. Do better, and you'll get better," he teased lightly, smirking a little. If that wasn't motivation, then surely going back home to Serah was. Lightning could think of one of two things, or both. Whichever she preferred.
Lightning smirked faintly despite herself, lightly whacking the back of Riku's head with one of her hands. He was so silly. Surely he didn't kiss her just to reward her for her performance; he wanted the kiss as well. If he hadn't, he wouldn't have placed his hands on her back and brought her nearer.

Riku chuckled a little. He pressed a kiss to Lightning's forehead before slowly releasing her. "You love it," he said softly. And by that, he meant that she loved him. Of course, probably not yet. But if they survived this, Riku had a feeling that their relationship would grow to that point. Maybe.
"Yeah, yeah," Lightning said in a passive tone. Even if Riku took away his hands, she kept hers behind his neck for a few more moments. She knew she had to let go in a few seconds though. Then it was back to training and possibly more failure. Hopefully she had some improvement by the end of the day.

Riku's smirk remained as he gazed at the girl before him. She was still blinded by the fabric over her eyes, and he doubted she knew how much that blindfold helped him in the past. Lightning had no idea that was what he used to fend off his inner demon when he took on his form. But Riku would tell her that later. Lightning didn't need to hear that story right now.
Light moved her hands, slowly sliding them down Riku's arms before letting them dangle by her sides. Her expression was serious again, even if Riku's still had a small smirk. She knew he wasn't relaxed with any of this, since her life was on the line, but he didn't panic the same way she did since it all began. She lost herself for a few days, but thankfully, she was becoming stronger again.

"Let's try again," Riku said, taking a few steps back. He would let Lightning locate his position for a little while longer, and then he would send spells at her from a distance. Better spells than his Keyblade, at least.
Lightning nodded faintly in silence, finding that wearing the blindfold made her quieter than usual. More solemn. But then again, she was more serious and solemn as a whole since what happened. She and Riku didn't talk about it at all, really. There wasn't a need to at first. They said sorry and moved on--it was that simple. Sort of.

Riku and Lightning worked on building Lightning's senses for a couple hours more, and by the time they were finished, it was the afternoon. They didn't go back to the castle, though; they stayed out in what was practically its backyard. Riku rested on his back in the grass, playing with a stray leaf as he twirled it by its stem. They were resting now, since they got to the point where spells were used. Lightning was getting better, but it would take a little more practice. She managed to dodge a few spells he sent her way, but not all of them, unfortunately. Riku cured her as soon as they were done, though. He didn't want to see her with a bandaged arm again.
Lightning laid in the grass beside Riku, her hands on her stomach. Despite that her eyes had been shut for a few hours, she had them shut now as well because she was tired. This wasn't very physical training (though it leaned in that direction more when Riku began to attack); it was more mental, so she felt mentally drained. She exhaled a silent breath, Riku's blindfold tied around her neck as they reclined in silence.

"You know something," Riku started lowly, gazing at the leaf in his hand. "For a couple months, I went without seeing the sun." He was stuck in the Realm of Darkness for too long. When he did get back outside, the sunlight had nearly blinded him. He had such good eyesight in the Darkness at that time that he swore he had evolved into being nocturnal. It was an interesting time in his life.
Lightning turned her head and looked over at Riku, humming in question. Where had that even come from? And what did he mean, he went without seeing the sun? He didn't mention anything about that before, when he basically told her everything that happened since he got the Keyblade. Of course, he wasn't extremely detailed with the descriptions. Was there something he didn't mention?

"The Realm of Darkness is exactly what it sounds like. It's just...darkness," Riku explained, looking past the leaf to the sun. He had to squint slightly, but it didn't hurt him too much. "I still have nightmares sometimes...and when I think back to what I said to you yesterday..." Riku let the wind take the leaf away, turning his head to look at Lightning. "I don't ever want you to suffer like I did." He didn't want her to join the Organization, because they were only Darkness. She would be tainted and destroyed by it.
