Rude Awakening (1x1 with Peanut)

Posted

As some of you may know, Peanut and I are crazy about Roleplaying, and it's clear, since this is the second one on this site that belongs to us. And we aren't even done with the first one! Regardless, that won't stop us from starting this new roleplay, Rude Awakening!

Kinda dark and mysterious title, eh?

As stated in the title, this RP is one on one, no exceptions. Please refrain from posting in the RP. Instead, follow us on this new journey!

Peanut, my amazing friend, let's begin!

Riku lifted a hand to the side of Lightning's head, running his thumb over her hair. He was proud of her for being so strong through this. If any of the other girls he dated in the past were here right now, they would most likely be crying that they wanted to go home. While Lightning admitted she wanted to go home in the past, she was pushing through and moving forward. He admired her for that.
Lightning automatically leaned into Riku's hand, her eyes already shut behind the blindfold. She knew that they were supposed to be serious and training now, but all she really wanted was to be in his arms. So much happened so quickly, and while she was coping with it fairly well, she just wanted a little bit of peace.

Riku couldn't help but smile a little when Lightning leaned into his hand. If they were home right now, he would love her more than anything. Love... He couldn't think of that right now. It was not only distracting, but dangerous. Lightning needed to focus on getting stronger, not on getting closer to Riku.
Lightning couldn't see Riku's smile, but since he kept his hand against her head, she assumed that he was content. So she stayed still...but only for a few moments. They just had a serious talk and no real resolution to it. That wasn't healthy. The girl stepped forward, lightly wrapping her arms around Riku's lower torso in silence.

Riku's hand on Lightning's head moved to cup the back of it, his fingers threading through her pink hair. His other arm wrapped around her shoulders. "You okay?" he asked, looking down at her. He highly doubted she was, but...something didn't feel right. He thought he was missing something important here, that had to do with her. What wasn't she telling him?
Lightning nodded softly, placing her head on Riku's shoulder. "Sorry," she said quietly in reference to worrying him. "I just...get overwhelmed sometimes." Sometimes emotions rose up in her and she felt the need to either flee or be embraced. Fortunately, Riku trained her to accept his warmth and feel better.

"It's okay," Riku said softly. He turned his head and pressed his lips to Lightning's hair, holding the position for a little. He could understand where she was coming from. It was easy to get overwhelmed in this kind of lifestyle. It was something that Riku had to block out after a while.
Lightning nodded softly, keeping her arms around Riku. The down times were both good and bad. Good because she could physically rest up, but bad because she had too much time to think. That's how it was with these moments with Riku, where she wasn't thinking about fighting. She thought of him and everything else instead, and most of the time, it made her sad.

Riku held Lightning in silence, setting his chin on the top of her head as he gazed at the castle nearby. He knew that soon they would have to leave this safe haven. Once Lightning was ready, they would have to go look for Sora and Kairi, and Roxas and Namine. It had been too long since Riku heard from his friends. He was worried about them.
"Sorry," Lightning said again, feeling Riku patiently hold onto her while she coped. "I should be stronger..." She had to not keep having moments like this; Riku wouldn't always be there to embrace her.

"Strength is gained," Riku said softly, keeping his eyes on the castle nearby. "You have to work for it, Light." And she could do it. Riku believed she could, but he knew that wouldn't be enough. Lightning needed that faith in herself. All Riku could do was encourage her.
"I am," Light responded quietly. She was working to be stronger and to be able to push through whatever roadblocks were in her way. It wasn't easy at all, but that was how life was. At least she finally accepted that this was reality, and she had to cope with it head on.

"That's all that matters," Riku said, looking back down at Lightning as he loosened his embrace a little. All she had to do was keep working at getting stronger, and soon she would be strong enough to handle the Organization. It would be hard, but that was how life was when you were involved with Keyblade wielders.
Lightning nodded faintly, taking her head off Riku's shoulder as her hands fell back down to her sides. "Let's get back to it," she said, referring to training. It was time to shove away these emotions again and focus on what really mattered. Strength.

Riku nodded, though he hummed softly to let Lightning know that he agreed; she was wearing the blindfold still. He stepped away from her and summoned his Keyblade, knowing that when they took a break, they were working on spells. It was time they got back to that. The sooner Lightning got good at dodging and using her other senses, the better.

Two days previous

Sora's journey really hadn't been too exciting. He escaped the castle and fled that world rather than face Young Master Xehanort, and somehow he found his way to Master Yen Sid's tower. He was relieved to hear that Riku, Lightning, and Kairi were alright, but he didn't specifically seek any of them. Master Yen Sid gave him armor to wear, told him how to use a glider, and sent him on his way so that he could save Aqua and Ventus. Apparently Terra was beyond saving. That thought saddened Sora as he stood on the Island back home after days of travelling, trying to sort out the thoughts in his head. Was there anything he could have done to save Terra?

A young woman drifted through the water, the waves from the ocean washing her up on a small island. Little did she know that she had been here before, fourteen years prior. Time in the Realm of Darkness flowed differently than time in the Realm of Light, that much she would find out very soon. When she started coming to, she coughed up water so she could breathe properly, her fingers curling in the soft, damp sand beneath her. Where...was she?
Sora looked down to the other end of the beach, doing a double-take when he saw somebody there. Nobody came to this Island, ever. And it wasn't just a regular old person. He grunted and sprinted over to the young woman, recognizing her blue hair and clothes. He met her when he was just a child! And the data that Ansem the Wise put in his heart helped him know her name. "You're...Aqua," he said, kneeling down by her. He was supposed to find her, and now he did!

Aqua heard her name, and she lifted her head a little to see who was beside her. She recognized the blue eyes and spiky hair immediately. The man in the black coat... He said his name was... "Sora," she said softly, a smile appearing. She could sense the power of the Keyblade within him. He had grown up to be a strong young man, and he saved the worlds. She was so proud.

Sora smiled, thrilled that he finally found her. It was about time! He had been searching for days on how to get to her, and now she was here. But looking at her, his excitement dimmed. She looked so...frail. Sickly. Was this what happened to people who spent so long in the Realm of Darkness? "Are you okay?" he asked quietly, more serious than he was a few moments ago.

Aqua's small smile turned weak as she set her hands, trying to push herself to her hands and knees. She managed, but only a little. She grunted softly as she fell back down onto her stomach, eyebrows furrowing. "The Realm of Darkness...must have affected me," Aqua admitted quietly. "That's what happens when you're there for ten years, I guess." But she was sure it was much longer than that. Sora looked to be beyond the age of fourteen or fifteen, since he had been about four or five when she first met him. Time really did flow differently in other Realms.
Sora lifted a hand, automatically putting it on Aqua's shoulder. "Stay down," he said, sad for her. Ten years was an extremely long time to be away, but unfortunately, it was longer than that. She looked absolutely terrible to him. Almost like... No, he wouldn't accept that.

Aqua did as Sora said, looking at his hand on her shoulder before she looked to the world. "At least it's a peaceful place," she said softly, her cheek resting against the cool sand. She already knew she was dying; she had been for a while. But at least she wasn't passing in a place full of Darkness. That was something she hadn't wanted.
Sora felt his heart break. He was able to understand what Aqua was saying, because he had been thinking it just a moment ago. She looked like she was...dying. "No," he said weakly, voice full of sorrow. Aqua couldn't be dying! It would be all Sora's fault. He was supposed to save her from the Realm of Darkness but didn't. She was passing because of him...

"It's okay," Aqua said, closing her eyes. "You've done so much for the worlds, and that's all I could ask of you. I had my time, and I did what I could. It's time for me to go away now." She would never be able to wake Ventus, which instantly saddened her, nor would she be able to see if Terra was okay. Her friends were very important to her, but she trusted Sora to find them and keep them safe. He promised the same for his friend Riku in the past.
