Rude Awakening (1x1 with Peanut)

Posted

As some of you may know, Peanut and I are crazy about Roleplaying, and it's clear, since this is the second one on this site that belongs to us. And we aren't even done with the first one! Regardless, that won't stop us from starting this new roleplay, Rude Awakening!

Kinda dark and mysterious title, eh?

As stated in the title, this RP is one on one, no exceptions. Please refrain from posting in the RP. Instead, follow us on this new journey!

Peanut, my amazing friend, let's begin!

"Unversed?" Sora repeated dumbly. He had never heard of those before, not even from the King. He never told him he met Kairi when she was younger...He supposed they didn't have much time to just sit down and chat in the past. Whenever they were brought together, the circumstances were dire.

Aqua nodded, looking over at Ventus. "Ven and I fought them in our past together, and so did Terra," she said. She fought the sadness in her heart at the mention of her best friend, who was clearly lost. She hadn't heard anything about him in her time of Darkness, though there was still time to hear about him in this Realm. "They're beings formed from negative emotions. Vanitas was the source of their power, just as they were his."

Kairi lowered her gaze to the sand at the reminder of that guy, squeezing Sora's hand without thought. She had believed Vanitas was Sora. How could she do such a thing? They were completely different in personality and heart....

"Oh yeah, that creep," Sora grimaced. "I ran into him the other day." He didn't bring any odd creatures with him during that encounter; in face, Sora was confused about why the interacted at all. All in all that had been a very confusing experience.

"Ven and I did too," Kairi admitted, looking to her newest friend. He saved her from Vanitas's tricks; she was too clueless and it nearly got her killed. Sora couldn't know that, though. He would be so upset, and not only with Vanitas. He would be upset with her...

"Ven," Sora repeated, looking up at him. Kairi didn't seem alarmed by his similarities to Roxas at all, so she must have been with him a few days now. But... "Have we met before?" Ven just felt really familiar to him. Like a friend he hadn't seen in a while.

"You could say that," Ven chuckled. They never met physically, but Ven resided in Sora's heart for several years. It had been a safe place, where he could heal. He would be in Sora's debt forever.

Kairi already knew this story, and when she heard Ventus chuckle, she looked up at him. Then she turned her head to gaze at Sora. "You're going to be amazed by his story," she told her husband. Sora had no idea how close he and Ven really were. It was...amazing, what Sora's heart could do.
Ventus encouraged Aqua to sit down so that he could tell the story, just to make sure that she was okay as well. And besides, she hadn't heard what happened to him after the Keyblade Graveyard. He told how his heart was split and how he eventually had to duel Vanitas in his heart. Then his heart was basically destroyed, and the fragments of it wandered to Sora's warm heart and stayed there until Sora was fourteen years old. When he released the princess' hearts, he also released Ven's. And now, well, here he was. It was really funny to see how baffled Sora was by the end of the story.

Aqua looked from Sora to Ventus, a slight smile on her lips as she lifted a hand to her friend's shoulder. "I'm glad you're okay, Ven," she said softly. He was like her little brother in many ways. She had always been protective of him. Aqua was just happy he had someone as wonderful as Sora to help him. If he hadn't, he would have been lost.

Kairi glanced from the two Keyblade wielders from the past to her husband, sitting down now as well. His expression made her giggle. He seemed so surprised by this, but just like she said before, he was amazed. Sora touched more hearts than he thought he did. And he saved them. Like hers, and Ven's.

Ven looked over at Aqua, smiling weakly in agreement and nodding. "I wish Terra was okay too," he said softly, more serious. Master Yen Sid said that Terra was gone, permanently. He said Xehanort's heart won out and now it was really his body and not Terra's. It was so awful...

Aqua's smile faded away at the mention of Terra, her hand falling from Ven's shoulder to rest in her lap. She wrapped her arms around her legs and rested her chin on her knees, staring at the ground as all fell silent. "Terra..." she whispered sadly. She couldn't believe there was no way to save him... He was so strong...
While Aqua and Ven had a moment of silence for their friend, Sora gazed down at his lap in thought. Was Terra really gone? Wasn't he one of the hearts that Sora was originally meant to save? ...Did Master Yen Sid just put Terra on the back-burner because he knew he couldn't be saved? Was it his responsibility to save him anyway?

Kairi looked at Ven and Aqua, though she remained silent. What could she say to uplift their spirits? They had lost a friend, and probably for good. It was awful to think that she and Sora could possibly lose Riku, who was like a brother to both of them. She lifted her eyes to the sky, hoping that her best friend was alright. She hadn't heard from him in a long time.
"I think we need to go look for Riku and Lightning," Sora said after a few moments, his thoughts coming around to that point like Kairi's were. He wanted to make sure that his best friend was alright. He was obviously strong, but that wasn't going to stop them from worrying.

Kairi turned her head to look at her husband, nodding. "I agree," she said. She missed Riku, and she assumed--like Sora did--that Riku found Lightning and got her out of the castle. There was a lot of commotion at one point, so it made sense that the Organization would be trying to stop them from escaping.
Sora began to push himself up, though he turned his gaze back to the mainland. "...I wanna go check on Noel before we go," he said, mostly to Kairi. "And Serah too." She was probably worried sick since Lightning went missing. Unless Riku brought Lightning back here and they were on the Islands...that would have been great.

Kairi lifted her eyes to Sora when he rose to his feet, though she remained in her spot. "I'll wait for you here," she said. "I'll stay with Ven and Aqua." She would try to get their minds off Terra, but she would take them to the Paopu tree to sit more comfortably. When Sora got back, they would decide what to do from there.
Sora nodded, giving Ven and Aqua a slight wave that translated to "be right back." He summoned his Keyblade, transformed it into a glider, and flew towards the mainland on it. He wouldn't stay long; he just wanted to make sure that everything was okay here. At least the world looked untouched by Xehanort.

Two days later, Twilight Town

Kairi had been happy to be home, but there was only so much time to rest. After staying home for about a day, she, Sora, Ventus, and Aqua set out to look for the others. Riku and Lightning were still missing, but everyone knew that those two could take care of themselves quite well. It was Roxas and Namine that Kairi was worried about. Roxas had been a target, and Namine was a liability alongside him, as bad as that was to admit. So here they all were, in the square in Twilight Town, looking for the two blondes. Kairi sincerely hoped they were alright...

Sora looked around, strangely quiet. He had become more serious with all the trouble of Xehanort, and the knowledge that four of his friends had been missing for over a week now. Riku and Lightning stood a better chance of surviving than Roxas and Namine, so that was why he, Kairi, Aqua, and Ven were looking for the latter pair. Sora had hoped that Roxas would be back in his hometown, but-- He did a double-take, seeing a familiar blond walk into the underground pathways. He smiled instantly, yelling "Roxas" after his friend before starting to run in that direction. Roxas was okay!

Kairi stopped in her tracks when Sora yelled in one direction, running as well. "Wait! Sora!" she cried, running after him. She heard footsteps behind her and knew that at least Aqua was following. But Kairi's gaze was elsewhere. Now she knew why Sora was in such a hurry. Roxas was actually here!
Sora only briefly glanced behind him, wearing a smile as his relieved expression showed to the three who were following. "C'mon!" he said, ducking into the doorway. Roxas was just here a second ago; they'd catch up to him. Where was Namine though? And why didn't Roxas turn around when Sora yelled? He probably didn't hear me. That's all. The thought that he was an enemy didn't even cross Sora's mind.

Aqua kept up easily, though she was a few yards behind Kairi, who was a few yards away from Sora. She recognized that smile he wore; it was the same one the small child had on when she first met him. The old Sora was still there, at least. Apparently seeing his friend--Roxas--made him happy. She and Ven were told of how they all got separated, so at least one of them was found now.
Sora called out to Roxas one last time when he was in sight, and finally his friend stopped and turned to face him. Though he wore a serious expression, Sora was glad Roxas's eyes weren't yellow. "Roxas," he said happily, stopping in front of his friend. "I've been looking everywhere for you!" It was great to see that he was alright...

"What luck!" Kairi called, slowing to a stop next to her husband. Her eyes rested on one of her good friends, though she noticed that somebody was absent. That made her smile fade instantly. "Wait...where's Namine?" Roxas should have been with her. He said he would watch out for her.

"I assume she's in The Castle That Never Was," Roxas said casually, apathetic to it. He left her there and fled through a Dark Portal soon after she revealed the truth to him. She deserved to rot in that world, and he'd allow it to happen. He was done being kind to her.

"What?!" Sora said in alarm, studying Roxas. He seemed...different. Very different. Didn't he care at all that Namine was being held by the enemy? He was Namine's friend too after all...
