Rude Awakening (1x1 with Peanut)

Posted

As some of you may know, Peanut and I are crazy about Roleplaying, and it's clear, since this is the second one on this site that belongs to us. And we aren't even done with the first one! Regardless, that won't stop us from starting this new roleplay, Rude Awakening!

Kinda dark and mysterious title, eh?

As stated in the title, this RP is one on one, no exceptions. Please refrain from posting in the RP. Instead, follow us on this new journey!

Peanut, my amazing friend, let's begin!

"And you just left her there?" Kairi said in shock, eyes wide as she gazed at Roxas. He was so...emotionless. It was like he didn't even care that Namine was in danger. "What's the matter with you, Roxas? You said you would take care of her!" Namine was practically Kairi's sister. This was far from okay in her eyes. Roxas shouldn't have left her all alone with the Organization!
"I said that when I was under her spell," Roxas spat, glaring at Kairi. Sora, upon seeing that Roxas was a bit different, took a small step closer to his wife automatically. He was right to do so; Roxas was ticked at all of his "friends". "We both got captured. The Organization had her show me how she messed with my mind. When you all went away on your stupid missions, she made me start to have feelings for her!" That witch.

Aqua couldn't see Sora and Kairi's expressions from where she stood, but she was sure they weren't pleasant. Roxas, though she hadn't met him before, came off as...disturbed. And it was clearly by their friend Namine.

Kairi briefly glanced at Sora when he stepped closer to her. And while she was alarmed that Roxas would practically spit in her face like that, she stood her ground. "Spell or not, you made a promise," she said, glaring at him. "You put her life at stake by leaving her!" Kairi knew about the spell that Namine casted a long time ago, but that was because she messed up with Roxas's memory process. As for the second spell...she wasn't sure what he was talking about.

Roxas held Kairi's glare, noticing how Sora was quiet but not caring. "I know exactly what I did," he said lowly to the girl. "And I'm glad. She deserves it after ruining my life." He looked over at Sora then, figuring his sometimes dimwitted Somebody could use a straightforward message. "I know what she did. I know how badly she screwed me up when I came back to life." It was all her fault he was this angry, bitter person.

Kairi felt moisture gathering in her eyes. Her sister was in danger because Roxas was too selfish to care! "It was a mistake," she hissed lowly, "and you left her to die because you'd rather wallow in self-pity." She stepped forward, pressing her hands to Roxas's shoulders and shoving him back with as much strength as she could. "Screw you, Roxas! You're nothing more than the monster the Organization wants you to be!" How could he do this?!

Roxas smiled bitterly after recovering his footing, having only been shoved back a small step. "That's what she created me to be," he said simply. Namine only helped him recover one version of himself--the Roxas who was in the Organization. He was practically a villain as it was.

"You're wrong," Sora finally said, grasping one of Kairi's hands to keep her from shoving Roxas again. He didn't want to anger him further. "It was all she could do, Roxas. You were too fragile for her to keep working on. ...We all thought you'd recover your truth self again over time without our interference, but..."

"But I didn't," Roxas hissed. He was screwed up, all because of the people he had previously called friends.

Kairi only glared at Roxas, her pulse racing with fury. How selfish could he be?! Didn't he realize that Namine made a mistake? It wasn't like she meant for Roxas to turn out this way. While they all knew, it was too dangerous for Namine to try and work on repairing Roxas's chain of memories again. There was nothing any of them could do. And now, Roxas wasn't giving them any other choices here; they had to go get Namine, because it was obvious he wouldn't be the one doing it.
Sora allowed the silence to settle between them for a few moments. "She still saved your life, Roxas," he said softly, loosening his grip on Kairi's hand as he held eye-contact with his Nobody. "You wouldn't have even been alive if it wasn't for her. Even if you can't recognize it, it's the truth." He glanced at Kairi, and then at Aqua and Ven, who were keeping their distance. "Let's go back," he said to them. "Namine's in danger." They'd go rescue her right away.

Kairi lowered her eyes from Roxas's cold stare, looking at the ground before she pulled her hand from Sora's and turned around. She walked past Aqua and Ven in silence, starting out of the tunnel. She wanted her sister safe. If Roxas was going to be as dark as to let her suffer alone, Kairi didn't want to be around him. He wasn't a friend to her if he was going to be so heartless.

While the others left the tunnel, Sora lingered and gazed at Roxas with softer eyes. "Take care of yourself," he said quietly. Roxas was still his friend--he was just lost and hurt over what he learned about the past. It would take some time, but Sora hoped to be on Roxas's good side again in the future. After receiving no response, he turned around and followed the others out. It was time to go save Namine.

Riku sent another Fire spell at Lightning, seeing as how she was dodging them regularly now. In the beginning, she was burned a few times, and when she said stop, they stopped. Just like Riku promised they would. But they got back to it and were making progress. It was slow progress, but Riku believed Lightning could at least use her senses a little better now.

Lightning rolled to the right to avoid a fireball, grunting when she felt the heat soar past her. This was very dangerous business, and quite frankly, she didn't believe that she was ready for it. But Riku did, so this was what they were doing now. She rose to her feet, trying to sense when and where the next attack was coming. Riku used a lot of magic, but he could approach her at any point.

Riku switched it up, instead sending an Aero spell at Lightning this time. She should have been able to sense the wind gathering around her. That should have set off her senses immediately. If she followed Riku's lessons well enough, she would evade it smoothly.

Light's eyebrows shot up briefly, the girl dodging back to the place she had originally been standing to avoid the gusts of wind. She saw Riku perform that spell to get paparazzi out of the way before, and now she knew what it felt like. On the outskirts of the spell, it was just pressure. But it probably was painful if people were too close to it.

Riku witnessed Lightning dodge his spell, and he smirked. She was doing much better than when they first started this. He was proud of her for not giving up; any other girl in Riku's past would have thought this was ridiculous. Then again, they wouldn't be able to handle the pressure of this kind of life. Riku decided to pull a new trick, using his teleportation abilities against Lightning like his simulation did in the training room. Every Xehanort remnant that Riku knew could teleport; this was something she had to be prepared for.
Lightning felt her stomach drop and nearly get chills due to the sensation that somebody was behind her. She spun around and only pointed her blade in that direction, not hearing anything but her own breathing. She didn't like thinking that she was wrong in turning around...Was Riku really there?
  • Author
Riku grunted, tilting his chin up a little. Lightning's blade was right at his throat, whether she realized it or not. "Okay," he grunted, not moving. If he did, the tip of Lightning's blade would pierce the skin. "I give." She won...which was surprising with how little they had been practicing.
Lightning was surprised, but after a few moments, her lips turned up in a small smile. So, she had been right...Riku did try to sneak up on her. She pulled back the blade carefully and put it in the case that hung behind her, able to put it in easily now because of all the times she did it. She actually was improving after all.

Riku instinctively lifted a hand to rub at his neck, looking at Lightning. "Close call," he said softly, clearing his throat. "Nice job." He was proud of her, in all seriousness. Lightning was doing great with this kind of pressure on her shoulders. He was happy to see her improvement in the past few hours.
Light lifted one of her hands, gently grasping one side of the blindfold and turning it up. She opened one of her blue eyes and looked up at Riku, smiling weakly both apologetically and proudly. The fact that she got her weapon so close to his throat was pretty surprising, considering they just started with the blindfold that morning and it was now evening.

Riku sent his Keyblade away. He doubted that he would need it much longer, since they would be called in for dinner soon. He met Lightning's gaze and couldn't help but smile a little, shaking his head at her. How she caught on so quickly was beyond him, but he was grateful for it.
Lightning couldn't help but allow her lips to twist up a little bit more. "What are you so happy about?" she asked softly, keeping the one side of the blindfold up while it was pinched between her fingers. Riku was staring at her with an expression of slight disbelief, but he seemed happily surprised all the same.

Riku lifted his hand, pulling the blindfold gently from Lightning's head. It left her hair in a bit of a mess, but he looked past that and gazed at her eyes. "I'm just...surprised," he admitted, though he adopted his cocky attitude once more for old time's sake. "But I'm proud of my fantastic teaching skills too." He smirked then, knowing that Lightning would appreciate that bit.
Light sighed a bit, lifting her fist and gently pressing it against Riku's chest. "Fantastic teacher or not, I was the one who did the real work," she said as she took on the attitude as well. If he wanted to be cocky and more lighthearted, she was okay with it. They needed a break for dinner anyway.

"Oh, okay," Riku said, eyes turning more devious. "And would you have known how to do that work without me?" He tilted his head a little as he looked down at her, wondering what she could possibly respond with. But he really was proud of her for her progress so far.
