Rude Awakening (1x1 with Peanut)

Posted

As some of you may know, Peanut and I are crazy about Roleplaying, and it's clear, since this is the second one on this site that belongs to us. And we aren't even done with the first one! Regardless, that won't stop us from starting this new roleplay, Rude Awakening!

Kinda dark and mysterious title, eh?

As stated in the title, this RP is one on one, no exceptions. Please refrain from posting in the RP. Instead, follow us on this new journey!

Peanut, my amazing friend, let's begin!

"I'd just go with my gut," Lightning snickered. Riku encouraged her to follow her gut feeling so much rather than giving her specific instructions about what to sense. It was more just giving her opportunities to unleash her natural talent, or so she would say if he asked again.

"Your gut, huh?" Riku said, taking a small step closer as he lowered his hands to Lightning's hips. "And what's your gut telling you now?" He leaned his head close, his face just in front of hers as he looked down at her. How did she naturally react when he was this close?

Lightning hesitated, at a loss for words. Her stomach lurched when he was this close, but it was a completely different feeling than when he sneaked up on her. That feeling told her to go on the defensive; this one told her to let her walls down. It was quite different. She just looked up into his eyes, grappling for words and saying the ones that came to mind. "It's telling me to never lose you," she said quietly. She never wanted him away from her.

Riku's small smile remained, though it was less of a smirk this time around. He gazed into Lightning's eyes in silence for a moment, taking in those words. As long as Lightning believed in him and they won this war, she wouldn't have to worry about losing him. Riku wouldn't let go of her after this war. "Stay close," he said quietly, "and you won't have to."
Light's small smile remained, her hands going to Riku's arms. "Then I'll stay as close as physically possible," she responded softly. She wanted to not just stay by his side, but in his arms as well. It wasn't just a feeling of safety she experienced, but feelings of comfort and happiness as well. She never wanted those feelings to go.

Riku felt Lightning's hands on his arms, taking in the feel of her touch. She was warm, but in a good way. And she gave him a feeling that he learned to cherish. He went two months without it, and he never wanted to go through it again. Riku leaned forward then, his nose briefly brushing Lightning's before his lips came in contact with hers. Unbeknownst to either of them, they had company just arrive at the castle. But until his friends made themselves present, Riku's attention was on the girl in his arms.
Lightning gently returned Riku's kiss, and once it ended she lightly brushed her nose against his once again. She liked being with him and being in his arms. It felt like the best place to be, though she wished that she knew for certain Serah was alright. She felt terrible not knowing her sister's fate, but she assumed no news was good news.

Riku kept his forehead to Lightning's once the kiss was done. He thought back to the moment they were in their room and he kissed her for the first time. She said she thought she was a bad kisser, not that she would have known. Riku was her first kiss, and for that, he was honored. "...Still think you're a bad kisser?" he asked her with a small smirk. He already told her she wasn't, but it was a joke he brought up every now and then.
Lightning smirked softly, opening her eyes and gazing at Riku right in front of her. "If I do, does that mean you'll kiss me again?" she asked, eyes almost challenging him to kiss her again. But that was only if he wanted to. If he had some reason to refuse her, then he was allowed to.

Riku could practically hear the challenge in Lightning's tone, which made him smile a little more. "Maybe," he said, his hands lightly squeezing her hips as they remained there. Moments like this didn't go to waste; Riku cherished them while they existed. Something could happen in the future to put their relationship in jeopardy, like Xehanort's dark ideas. It was unpleasant to think about. Riku didn't want to lose this. He didn't want to lose her.
"Well then," Lightning said, letting one of her fingers briefly run over Riku's arm. "I'm a terrible kisser." And I need you to fix it. Just as she leaned forward a tad, she heard somebody holler an extended version of "hey" from the direction of the castle. She turned her head sharply, blinking in surprise when she saw Sora, Kairi, and two others she didn't recognize.

Riku sighed at the call, hanging his head a little. His first thought was that it was a guard coming to retrieve them for dinner, who came at a horrible time. But when he turned his head, he grunted in surprise. "Sora!" he called, a smile instantly coming to his face. And Kairi, and...Roxas? No, that wasn't Roxas. The new blonde was someone Riku saw in Sora's dreams. Ventus.

Lightning slowly lowered her hands, seeing Sora come running over. She hadn't seen him in over two months...He looked like he was doing well. As he neared them, she realized she actually had missed him. After all, he was one of her friends too.

"Hey guys," Sora said brightly, stopping by the two without even realizing that he was interrupting a moment between the two that were very much like a couple. He smirked slightly at his best friend, seeing his pleased expression. "Taking a vacation while the rest of us do the work?" What were they doing here, and so close?

Riku let one arm remain around Lightning's waist, but he did roll his eyes at Sora's remark. "Actually, we were just in the middle of training," he said. True, they took a break from that for about five minutes. It would have lasted longer if Sora didn't interrupt. Riku grunted when he was suddenly forced to take a step back, his hand leaving Lightning's waist. He looked down, seeing red hair instantly. Kairi.

Kairi had her arms wrapped around Riku's back, her chin resting on his shoulder. She missed her brother. She was worried sick about him, and he was here the entire time?! She felt tears of relief flood her eyes, though she was also sad for Namine's sake. Riku had no idea where she was, not until they told him.

Riku lifted his arms, wrapping them around Kairi in silence. He lifted one to the back of her head, gently squeezing her. "Hey, Kairi," he greeted softly. She only embraced him more at the greeting, and he knew instantly that she was worried. He mentally prepared himself for a scolding.

Lightning was surprised when Sora gave her an embrace while Kairi gave Riku his, and her expression showed that. Yet when she heard his relieved tone say that he was glad she was alright, she softened. So this wasn't a one-sided friendship... She hugged him back lightly, surprising herself and probably him. Right back at you, friend, she thought to him. It was good he was safe.

Riku felt Kairi loosen her hold, so he did the same. He smiled at her, and he got one in return, but only for a second. Riku's eyes widened when a hand came flying up to the side of his head. "Ow!" he cried, ducking away instantly as Kairi then proceeded to shove him backwards. "Kairi! Hey!"

"You idiot!" Kairi scolded, hands at fists at her sides as she glared up at her best friend. "You had me worried sick!" And he was here, hanging out the entire time? Of course Riku would neglect to tell them!

Sora chuckled, having released Lightning as the two of them watched Kairi unleash her anger on Riku. He was glad Kairi didn't have much time to take out her anger on him; he hadn't been in the best shape, so healing him had become more important than scolding him for making her worry. He kept his eyes on his two best friends, trying to keep a straight face. He wasn't angry; he was relieved. Riku and Lightning were okay...

"I've been busy!" Riku said in his defense, staring at Kairi with shocked eyes. She was seriously yelling at him about this? He had a lot of stuff going on--like getting tortured, for instance.

"Yeah, you looked really busy," Kairi said, placing her hands on her hips. "Getting all lovey dovey with Lightning." She then turned her head, eyes widening as she looked to the girl. "No offense, of course!" Little did she know, Riku had his hand to his face in embarassment. Yes, he had been caught in the act.

Lightning looked away as well, cheeks red in embarrassment. "I kept him busy the past few days," she said to both Sora, Kairi, and the other two that were now approaching, speaking in Riku's defense. "Sorry." He had been taking care of her and training her for the fight. She shouldn't have forced him to stay with her; she should have ordered him to search for the friends that were obviously worrying over him.

Kairi looked from Lightning to Riku, seeing the latter peek at her with one eye, the other being covered by his hand. "You're lucky I like her, Riku," she said. No other girl would get away with this, keeping Riku from Kairi and Sora. She then stepped over, wrapping an arm around Lightning as Riku sighed in relief.

"No kidding," Riku said, lowering his hand to his side as he looked at Kairi. She had one arm around Lightning and the other on Lightning's closest shoulder to her, rubbing it in a comforting manner. Kairi wasn't entirely angry at Lightning; it was mostly directed at Riku. He should have at least spread the word that he was alright. But he didn't, and now he was paying the price.

Although Kairi stated that Lightning was family in the past, she was again surprised at how Sora and Kairi were almost as glad to see her as they were to see Riku. They had been Riku's friend for their whole lives, and they didn't even know Lightning for a year. Yet she was important to them. She was honored... She looked up at Riku behind her bangs, smiling weakly. Now I understand what you were saying, abut how we're all friends who depend on each other, she thought to him. Sorry for losing sight of that.

Riku met Lightning's gaze, seeing the message she was silently transmitting only to him. He nodded to her in understanding, seeing that Kairi still kept Lightning in her gentle hold. Riku, in the meantime, stepped toward Sora, holding his hand out so he could bring him in for a brotherly hug. He had been worried sick.
Sora accepted Riku's hand and gave him a light hug, though he spoke as they performed the action. "Here we were just stopping by to tell the King that we found Aqua and Ven," he said to mostly Riku. "We didn't expect to find you here." But he was really glad. Maybe now Riku and Lightning could help them recover Namine too. That was their next stop.

Riku pulled back from the hug, clapping Sora on the shoulder with his free hand. "Lucky you, huh?" he said, smiling as he lifted his gaze to the people a few feet behind Sora. Master Aqua and Ven... So Sora did find them. Count on him to make new friends every step of the way.
"I'd say that you're the lucky one, but with Kairi as angry as she is at you...I can't really say that's true," Sora snickered at his best friend. Riku was still his cocky self, even if they spent about a week and a half apart and each went through their own experiences. They'd have to catch up sometime about all that.
