Rude Awakening (1x1 with Peanut)

Posted

As some of you may know, Peanut and I are crazy about Roleplaying, and it's clear, since this is the second one on this site that belongs to us. And we aren't even done with the first one! Regardless, that won't stop us from starting this new roleplay, Rude Awakening!

Kinda dark and mysterious title, eh?

As stated in the title, this RP is one on one, no exceptions. Please refrain from posting in the RP. Instead, follow us on this new journey!

Peanut, my amazing friend, let's begin!

"Point being that your heart is a victim to the Darkness if you don't stop hiding behind your shell," Riku said, putting it bluntly. "Been there, and it nearly killed me. I doubt that's a fate you rea

Serah lifted her hands to her lips in both shock and fear, the girl rushing over to the bed. Lightning didn't look like she was in pain or anything--she just looked blank. And that scared her. "Why?" she asked Riku weakly. Why was her sister in a coma? It made no sense with the story he told her. Had he told her any of the truth? How long had Lightning been like this?

Riku took his hand away from Lightning's cheek. "She fought with my demon," he said lowly. "The Organization you've probably read about... It's back. Lightning was forced to fight, but it didn't end well." She was possessed for a short period of time, but it had lasting effects.

Serah shook her head softly, sitting down on the edge of the bed next to Riku and by Lightning. "...Will she be okay?" she asked quietly, keeping her gaze on her sister. Lightning had to be okay...She was so, so strong. Maybe not in the same way as Riku and all the other Keyblade wielders, but she was truly strong. She had to use that strength to come out of this...

Riku nodded a little, lifting his gaze to Serah. "Kairi used some of her Light to correct the imbalance of Lightning's heart," he explained. "...Serah, look at me." Riku set a hand on one of Serah's. She wasn't going to be happy with what he was about to tell her, but Lightning was her sister. She deserved to know.

Serah hesitantly looked over at Riku, much like Lightning would have done when she was expecting to hear something she didn't want to hear. She allowed Riku to hold her small hand, which felt so frail in his after the shocking news he told her. She came here believing that her sister was okay, but she really wasn't. She was in a coma, and there was no way to bring her out of it. That was anything but okay.

"Lightning was fighting a man named Ansem," Riku began softly, holding Serah's small hand securely. "He haunted me in my past, and he fed me lies to fill my heart with Darkness. Lightning fought him, but lost. When that happened, Ansem filled her heart with a lot of Darkness." Riku looked to the girl he cared so much for, eyes hard in disgust. This wasn't supposed to happen to her... "Kairi gave her some of her Light to help, but it's up to Lightning when she wakes up. We've done all we can."

Serah nibbled on her lip and followed Riku's gaze to Lightning, eyes moist. She couldn't blame Riku even if he did have connections to this man Ansem; Serah knew what Riku meant to Lightning. "...She was fighting because she wanted to, wasn't she?" she asked softly to Riku, though she didn't look at him. Lightning was fighting because it was her desire to--otherwise, she wouldn't have been fighting. That was the Lightning Serah knew.

"Yeah," Riku replied quietly, nodding as well. "For the past week or so I've been training her. She held her own for a while, but it wasn't enough." She wasn't well prepared for that kind of fighting yet. It sucked, but that was the reality of the situation.

Serah nodded softly, lifting a hand and wiping at one of the tears that fell from her eyes. Serah was normally free to release her emotions and trust Lightning to be the strong one, but it felt like the positions were switched today. Lightning was vulnerable, and Serah was too for that very reason. But she had to be strong now, for Lightning. For herself.

Riku looked at Serah, and upon seeing her sorrow, he squeezed her hand. "I'll give you some time with her," he told her quietly. He released her hand and rose to his feet to leave. He would be back within the hour to check on both Farrons.

Serah watched Riku go in silence before she looked back to Lightning. She'd stay here until her sister woke up, no matter how long it took. The two sisters weren't going to be separated again; neither of them could handle it. She gazed at Lightning through moist eyes, not even bothering to speak. There was nothing to say.

As Riku promised, he left Serah to be with Lightning for quite a while. In the meantime, he was sitting with Kairi, Sora, and Namine down in the Castle Gardens. Namine said she just wanted sunlight after spending the past few days in a plain white room, and Riku didn't blame her. They all talked to her for as long as they could, but she didn't carry conversation really well. So Riku ended up excusing himself, now approaching his room. He knocked on the door before peeking his head in. "Serah?"
Serah rose to her feet, leaving the sleeping Lightning behind as she headed to the door. She slipped outside even if Riku was right there, and her angry eyes were on him. "What aren't you telling me?" she demanded, voice normal level since Lightning was asleep. There was no need to whisper, but there was no need to yell either. As long as she got the answers she needed.

"What are you talking about?" Riku asked lowly, having glanced in the room before Serah closed the door. So Lightning was still asleep? That alone was upsetting, but Serah's demand didn't help. "I told you everything." What else did she want to know?
"No," Serah said, taking a few steps away from the room but continuing to face Riku. "There's something else." Her eyebrows were furrowed, both because of confusion and seriousness. "She whined in her sleep, Riku. She wanted our mom." And Lightning despised their mother. There was no way she'd randomly change that. Serah tried convincing her for two years not to hate their mom, but Lightning did it anyway. What caused the change?

Riku sighed, lowering his eyes immediately. He guessed there was one bit of information he forgot to mention. On purpose, of course. Cedric. But would Lightning want Serah to know he was alive, and top of all else, evil? Riku hesitated, looking up at Serah before diverting his gaze. What did he do?
"She hates our mom, Riku," Serah declared more calmly, seeing how he was reacting to her. He seemed startled by what she was throwing at him, so it was time to tone it down. "Something has to be wrong if she wants her..." There was something Riku didn't tell her, right?

Riku ran a hand over his hair. "Look, um..." he glanced at Serah before looking to the door. "Maybe Light should tell you..." He really didn't think it was his place to tell Serah that her father was alive...and that he murdered her mother. Riku didn't think it was right.
Serah looked to the ground, eyebrows furrowed. She'd have to ask Lightning, then, whenever she woke up. Her eyes automatically went to the door a few feet behind Riku since he stepped closer to her. But her blue eyes quickly widened when she saw who was standing in the hallway a few feet away, finally awake. Lightning!

Riku caught Serah's eyes widen as she looked behind him, and he automatically turned a little. He gazed across his shoulder, though his breath caught in his throat when he saw her. "Light..." he said softly in surprise. She was awake!
Light was quite surprised to see the two, especially the one who ran at her first. But she recovered from her surprise just in time to open her arms as Serah ran into her and made her stumble back two steps. She was still tired, but she knew this was reality. Serah was here in the castle... She brought a hand to the back of her sister's head, leaning the side of her face against Serah's pink hair. It was so good to see her...

Riku gazed at the two sisters in silence, though his eyes lingered on Lightning. He was so happy to see her on her feet, to see her eyes again. But most of all, he was glad to see her reunited with Serah. He knew that Lightning worried about her sister constantly, and that was why Riku decided to bring Serah to Lightning. They deserved a reunion after all this time.
Lightning briefly turned her head into Serah's hair, but after a few moments, her face became revealed again and her eyes landed on the other person in the hallway. Riku looked happy, but still worried over her. She felt okay for the most part though except for some lingering tiredness and all the emotional junk the Guardian brought up. She was still alive and still herself...still with Riku.

Riku smiled weakly when Lightning made eye contact with him, and he nodded to her in silence. It was good to see that she was okay. Kairi did a good job at helping Lightning out; he would have to express better gratitude later.
Lightning gently jerked her head over, motioning for Riku to come closer. She missed him, even if she was technically the one who left him by falling asleep. She had tried her hardest to stay awake, but she just couldn't do it. She'd have to apologize for that...
