Rude Awakening (1x1 with Peanut)

Posted

As some of you may know, Peanut and I are crazy about Roleplaying, and it's clear, since this is the second one on this site that belongs to us. And we aren't even done with the first one! Regardless, that won't stop us from starting this new roleplay, Rude Awakening!

Kinda dark and mysterious title, eh?

As stated in the title, this RP is one on one, no exceptions. Please refrain from posting in the RP. Instead, follow us on this new journey!

Peanut, my amazing friend, let's begin!

Riku closed his eyes at the small gesture, appreciating it. "You're okay," he whispered, rubbing Lightning's back slowly. She would be okay, as long as Riku had a say in it. He wouldn't let anything happen to her again, and he would try his hardest to keep that promise. No matter what.
Lightning nodded softly against Riku's shoulder and neck, otherwise remaining still and quiet. She was okay...only because of him. She began depending on him so much since he reentered her life two weeks ago. It was crazy to think of just how lost she'd be without him now.

"Let's go sit down, okay?" Riku said, lowering his head a little to look at Lightning. She was so close that it was nearly impossible, but he could at least see her pink hair. He figured she needed to rest some more, and so did he. He had been running on adrenaline the entire time in the Castle, and now he was exhausted from the fight against Xemnas and all of the traveling. He needed to build his endurance again.
Lightning found herself nodding again, and she knew that was her cue to let go of Riku so he could actually move. She had probably been holding onto him too tightly anyway. Her fist grasping his shirt slowly released, and then her arms came back down to her sides completely so that Riku had the freedom to move about again. As she gazed up at him, her eyes held an apology again. She was sorry--for many things.

Riku saw the look on Lightning's face when he released her, and he only shook his head. She didn't need to feel bad about anything; her reaction to the Guardian was, well, normal. He motioned toward the room with his head, one hand lifting to rest on one of her shoulders. He would lay down with her; he knew she always liked cuddling.
Lightning silently reentered the bedroom, where the bed was exactly as she left it. She had been underneath the covers before, probably because of Riku. He didn't want her feeling cold because of what had happened. He's always looking out for me, isn't he? Always... Shouldn't he have better things to worry about?

Riku went to the opposite side of the bed and sat down, propping himself up against the headboard. He opened his arm to Lightning so she could snuggle up next to him. He always had liked having her close. The casual rides on his bike back home were far from casual for Riku. It felt nice for her to hold him and depend on him. He never had that, not like Sora with Kairi. It was different, but a good different.
After pulling up the blankets to her waist, Lightning moved closer to Riku and sat beneath his arm and against his side. Because of where he was sitting and her position in relation to him, she could hear his heartbeat as she leaned her head against him. "...Your heart's beating fast," she whispered to him, gazing down at the arm she wrapped over his stomach. It was beating faster than it should have been.

"Hm," Riku hummed with the smallest smile. "Why do you think that is?" He looked down at her, his arms wrapped around her. He wasn't sure why his heart would be beating fast... Maybe because of Lightning? She always did excite him, good or bad. She was different in that way, unpredictable.
"You would know better than I would," Lightning stated softly, allowing her eyes to shut. For one thing, she was still tired. And then the other reason was that she was comfortable. Riku's arms were surrounding her, sunlight was pouring in through the window...Things were looking up.

Riku leaned his head back against the headboard, staring up at the ceiling. "It's probably because of you," he said. Why wouldn't it be? Lightning was...remarkable. Riku couldn't go a day without thinking about her after he met her. And that was still true to this day.
"Flattering," Lightning said, a hint of a smile tugging at her lips. If she would have told Riku her heart raced for him, he would have responded in the same way. He always did have an ego, so that when he accepted compliments, he did it with a cocky attitude. But somehow, even that grew on her.

"Good to know." Riku ran his fingers over the skin of Lightning's arm, closing his eyes after a moment. The two of them had the opportunity to rest here, gain their strength, and fight another day. It was what they had to do for right now. But soon...Riku hoped that he could date Lightning properly--take her out on dates, show her off to the public, and have her grow close to his family. It was what he wanted, and he hoped she wished for the same.
Light opened her eyes, though she didn't look at Riku. Instead, she gazed at the wall across from her. "Are you alright, by the way?" she asked quietly, randomly. Somebody had shot him when he protested Lightning becoming a vessel... Wait, she suddenly thought. When Riku said he was willing to take her place, did he mean as a vessel? ...Had he been willing to sacrifice his entire being for her?

"Mm," Riku hummed in confirmation. Sora made sure that Riku was healthy enough to leave the castle quickly back in The World That Never Was. The potion must have been a hi-potion, since Riku's wounds were healed and his energy was temporarily boosted for that time. Sora was always saving Riku's behind, but Riku returned the favor. It was just the way their relationship was. They had each other's backs.
Lightning began to blush, her head lowering as her gaze did the same. She heard Riku's answer and accepted it gladly--the last thing that she wanted to hear was that he wasn't alright. But her own thoughts were distracting her and making her feel...startled. What did Riku mean earlier? Did he just want to take her place with the possession, or when he thought she was surely going to become an enemy of the Light? It would have been crazy if that was true...

Riku continued to rub Lightning's arm with the tips of his fingers, relaxing from her warmth and the environment. It would be even better if they were back on the Islands, but that couldn't happen right now. Xehanort was still out there, so they had to stay away from home. It would be a while until they could go back, but Riku would make sure things were safe before everyone returned. They couldn't risk anything.
Light slowly felt her eyes flicker shut at Riku's gentle stroking, partially shutting of their own will. She was really curious now, but how was she supposed to even bring that up? What if she was assuming too much of him? That would be extremely awkward... Besides, she couldn't find the energy to ask now. She asked about a more pressing matter instead. "You trying to get me back to sleep or something?" she muttered. It certainly seemed that way, but why was it okay for her to sleep now?
  • Author
"Not necessarily," Riku murmured lowly. He was just trying to get her to relax. But, if he was going to make her fall asleep... "Why? Should I distract you?" He smirked a little at the distraction he had in mind, but he doubted Lightning was in the mood for too much affection. But he did need to keep her awake for a little longer. He didn't think she would go back into a coma now that she woke up from one.
Lightning felt a small smile pull at her lips as she hummed. "You're free to try," she responded softly, her position remaining the same. She didn't feel like sleeping again--she just wanted to stay in Riku's arms and be conscious enough to enjoy it for a while. He and Serah didn't bother mentioning the coma to her, but if they had, she definitely wouldn't have wanted to sleep.

Riku lowered his gaze to Lightning, staring at her for a moment. But then he got an idea. "Okay..." he said, smirking. Riku moved his hands and instantly started to tickle Lightning, his fingers wiggling over her stomach and sides. He wanted to hear her laugh again, and since Serah shared with him a long time ago that Lightning was ticklish, he doubted this idea would fail him.
Lightning's eyes immediately shot open, the girl drawing in a forced breath and then releasing it in the form of laughter. "R-Riku!" she cried in protest, automatically pressing a hand against his chest as she began pushing herself away from him. She hadn't wanted to be woken up this way!

Riku's smirk only remained as he continued tickling Lightning. Even when she pushed herself away, he leaned toward her and continued tickling her sides. There was no way she was getting out of this. He was hearing her laugh. That was a big thing for him.
Light pushed herself further away, lifting her free hand to grab one of Riku's and grasp it so he couldn't tickle her anymore with it. "S-stop it!" she laughed, trying to be irritated with him but failing. Things had been so serious lately, so heartbreaking. He was breaking through that mood in one of the only ways he knew how to, and that was by tickling her.

"You forget I have two hands," Riku said, chuckling a little. He gripped Lightning's hand in his, but his other hand went to work on tickling her side lightly. At least she was laughing now, and smiling. Even if he did force it, he could tell that she secretly enjoyed this. It was about time she was happy, if only for a moment.
