Rude Awakening (1x1 with Peanut)

Posted

As some of you may know, Peanut and I are crazy about Roleplaying, and it's clear, since this is the second one on this site that belongs to us. And we aren't even done with the first one! Regardless, that won't stop us from starting this new roleplay, Rude Awakening!

Kinda dark and mysterious title, eh?

As stated in the title, this RP is one on one, no exceptions. Please refrain from posting in the RP. Instead, follow us on this new journey!

Peanut, my amazing friend, let's begin!

Namine had been at this for hours. Putting Sora's lost memories back in their correct place took a year, and with this, Namine was sure it wouldn't take more than a day. It wasn't a life's worth of memories to be recovered; it was the makings of a human being. Namine just prayed she didn't mess up again. She couldn't hurt Roxas that badly a second time... It would break him, and break her heart.
Sora set a hand on Kairi's shoulder, looking at her briefly before exiting the room. She was welcome to follow, if she wanted. They weren't really needed to oversee the operation. Besides, he wanted to make sure Kairi would forgive Roxas for...well, being a bad version of himself. It wasn't completely his fault.

Kairi looked over at Sora when he touched her shoulder, and when he left, she soon followed. But not without a glance Namine's way. Then again, she doubted Namine even knew they were there anymore; she was too focused on Roxas. Kairi followed Sora out of the room, shutting the door quietly behind her and releasing a sigh. All of this...everything... It was a mess.
"What're you thinking?" Sora asked his wife, speaking softly even if the door was shut. There was no need to be loud, not even for him. It was obvious sometimes how much he changed after the Mark of Mastery examination, especially in how he was more solemn and serious than before. That was how he was now, concerned for his friends.

Kairi tucked a piece of her hair behind her ear. "I just find it hard to believe how one old man can ruin our lives," she said with a shake of her head, moving to lean against the wall. It was awful, what one person could do to change things. Xehanort never stopped, it seemed. Could they ever truly get rid of him?
"Not ruin, Kai," Sora said gently, setting his hands on her shoulders. "We're not letting him ruin our lives." Xehanort caused a lot of damage to their lives, even to him personally. But Xehanort was not going to govern his life. Sora was going to make his own life with his wife, simple as that.

Kairi looked into the blue eyes she adored. "Okay, then he's complicating things," she said. But still, it wasn't any better. They needed to stop Xehanort for good. She was sure she wasn't the only one who couldn't take the old man's antics anymore. Everyone needed peace, once and for all.
"These are the lives we have set before us," Sora said gently, giving Kairi's shoulders a squeeze in the same manner. "All we can do is face it and fight for better days." The fighting was literal in this case, and he believed they were ready for the fight. Xehanort only had twelve and they seemed to have seven now that Riku announced Lightning's willingness to join. They could win this.

Kairi lifted her hands to Sora's arms, looking down at his chest. "As long as I'm with you, I'm strong enough," she whispered, lifting her gaze to his eyes again. Sora was a majority of her strength through all of this. She wanted to live a long and fulfilling life with him, have children, be a family. It was one of her dreams.
"Then I'll be with you forever," Sora promised, leaning forward and giving Kairi a kiss on the forehead. He wasn't referring to the final battle, because they couldn't physically stay together for that. But they'd always be connected. After all, they shared a Paopu fruit on their wedding day. It was an unbreakable connection.

Kairi closed her eyes at the small kiss, squeezing Sora's arms. She loved him unconditionally, and when he proposed, she immediately said yes. How could she reject someone as sweet and caring as him? He was...perfect for her. No other guy existed when he was around.
Sora kept his eyes on his bride, smiling faintly at Kairi's show of affection. But... "Could you do something for me?" he asked quietly. He was going to bring up a new topic and she probably wouldn't like it, but they needed to talk about it. This would affect their survival in that final battle.

Kairi opened her eyes, her small smile fading at the question. "Sure," she said. "What is it?" She was curious, but she would give Sora the chance to explain. But...she hoped it wasn't something terrible. If it involved leaving Sora behind or letting him get hurt, she couldn't do it. He knew that she couldn't.
"Forgive Roxas," Sora said quietly, his serious eyes resting on Kairi. "If all this goes smoothly, he'll be one of our seven. We can't have problems with each other when we're fighting..." It'd wind up getting someone killed, which was the last thing they wanted. It would be terrifying to lose a single friend...Especially his wife.

Kairi gazed at Sora for a moment, but then she diverted her eyes. "Sora..." she said with a small sigh. It wasn't that simple. He left Namine for dead, for all they knew. He didn't even feel bad about leaving her there! He could have been responsible for Namine's death! How could Kairi just forgive that?

"When he comes to, he'll be a different person," Sora said, taking his hands away. His eyebrows were furrowed in seriousness, but also in defensiveness. Roxas didn't have many on his side, so Sora had to defend him. "You can't hold him responsible for who he was before." He couldn't have helped who he was and what it led him to do.

"He has a conscience regardless of who he is," Kairi said, her hands falling to her sides when Sora took his arms away. "If he had enough of a heart to tear up an hour ago, he had enough to be a good person. Ditching the girl who is practically my sister isn't very good of him." That kind of behavior wouldn't be excused.
Sora shook his head, looking away. "You don't get it, Kai," he said softly. He didn't look up at her, about to reveal something he knew she wouldn't like. "...I still had a connection to him. I felt the pain that he was going through and everything else. He truly couldn't help it but lose it when he found out the truth..." Roxas was innocent--a victim of terrible circumstances.

Kairi stood upright, lifting a hand to her husband's shoulder. "I'm not saying he doesn't have a right to be upset, Sora," she told him gently. "I'm just saying that it's going to be very...difficult to forgive him for what he did to Namine. He knew what he was doing, upset or not." It would take a while to forgive Roxas, but as long as he didn't do something like that again, she could probably do it.
"Maybe," Sora agreed quietly. Roxas did know what he was doing when he left Namine behind, but he did go back for her after getting some sense talked into him. He knew he was pleading towards "temporary insanity" for Roxas, but that was how things were in his view. He kept his view down, that being the only response he could think of. It didn't seem like he could sway Kairi, which meant...He'd have to be even more prepared for the final battle, to cover whatever tension there would be between Kairi and Roxas.

"Sora, I love you," Kairi said softly, letting her hand fall from his shoulder. "And I love Roxas too. It's just going to take some time, okay?" He could at least give her that, right? She knew the final battle was coming up soon, and that there was a possibility of some of them dying. Kairi didn't want to die with things being unsettled between her and Roxas. Of course not. But she would stand her ground with this. Sora sided with Roxas, and Kairi sided with Namine. But Namine seemed to not care that much anymore...
"Yeah," Sora said with a small nod. "Okay." Kairi didn't really seem to love Roxas, but he'd let that comment slide. He wasn't going to pick at details so soon before the battle. This was already going to be extremely hard. Aqua had been in the Realm of Darkness for so long that her fighting wasn't quite up to par, and Kairi and Lightning were both new at this. Things weren't looking great.

Kairi pushed herself up on her toes slightly, pecking Sora on the cheek. "I'm gonna go check on them," she told him gently, gazing at him for another moment. But then she turned and opened the door, going back inside. She wasn't sure what Sora would do, but Kairi wanted to be close to Namine for right now. She was her sister, after all.
Sora knew things weren't completely resolved between them, at least not on his side. But he allowed Kairi to walk away before he turned to leave as well. He'd train on his own for a little while. He was the hero in the past, so hopefully he could become that again. He had to, or else somebody would die. His Nobody or his wife.

Namine gazed at Roxas in silence, still sitting in her chair a few feet away. A few hours had passed since Kairi entered the room again, and dinner was to be served soon, but now Namine was waiting alone. She finished fixing Roxas's chains of memory, repairing his heart the best she could. It took time and energy, and now she was exhausted, but she wouldn't leave the room until she was sure he was okay. If he wasn't, she would work at it again. She had to make it up to him for all she did... Namine was horrible in the past.
