Rude Awakening (1x1 with Peanut)

Posted

As some of you may know, Peanut and I are crazy about Roleplaying, and it's clear, since this is the second one on this site that belongs to us. And we aren't even done with the first one! Regardless, that won't stop us from starting this new roleplay, Rude Awakening!

Kinda dark and mysterious title, eh?

As stated in the title, this RP is one on one, no exceptions. Please refrain from posting in the RP. Instead, follow us on this new journey!

Peanut, my amazing friend, let's begin!

Riku stared up at the sky, his weight still on his elbows. He hadn't been to as many worlds as Sora, but he'd been to enough to know what it was like outside the Islands. Definitely different. He had wanted to take Lightning outside their world at least once, just to show her what else existed. But he didn't expect it under these circumstances. It was done wrong.
Lightning gazed upward in silence, lying on her back beside Riku. She felt chilled by the air, or maybe by what chilled her earlier. That was what these thoughts were going to do to her. And if that happened, she'd excuse herself and go back inside. She wouldn't ruin the night for everyone else. They deserved happiness and peace too.

Riku moved his leg slightly without thought, but that was when it touched Lightning's leg as well. He kept it there, savoring even that small of a touch. He wasn't sure how long it would be before the war began, but when it did, there was a possibility of the two of them being separated for good. It wasn't pleasant to think about, but it was possible.
Lightning briefly looked over at Riku, seeing his serious expression. In fact, everyone in the line seemed serious. There wasn't too much to be lighthearted about right now anyway, so seriousness was natural. Noel and Serah looked innocent compared to others in the line, and Lightning probably now had the same expression as the Keyblade wielders. They knew what evil lurked out there. They knew what it was capable of.

Kairi looked up at the sky in silence, her head resting on her husband's chest. She could hear Sora's heart beating, and she hoped that didn't stop for a very, very long time. She didn't want to lose him in the upcoming war, and she was absolutely certain that he didn't want to lose her. They had their whole lives ahead of them. They just became a family, and now it was time to broaden that family. Sooner or later. Kairi wanted kids, grandchildren...a bigger family than she ever had. It would only be possible if they lived, and she sincerely hoped they would.
Roxas noticed Kairi and Sora and how close they were, and Noel and Serah were pretty close too. It made Roxas start wondering about himself. After this was over,he had a chance to really live his life. He could find a significant girl and treat her well. But he had to recall that back in Twilight Town, he did have a crush on Namine, even if he only knew her a few days.

Kairi decided to close her eyes, smiling to herself at the thought. Family... She knew she already had one, with her friends. But her own blood running around the house, squealing and laughing. And Sora could be chasing them, encouraging that laughter and that happiness. Kairi exhaled a soft breath at the image. It would be great.
Lightning curled up next to Riku after some time, feeling cold and not wanting to disturb anyone else. The night air wasn't that cold, so she shouldn't have been shivering. Hopefully Riku would assume she just wanted to cuddle up to him, not just keep herself from shivering.

Riku looked over at Lightning before laying back completely, wrapping an arm around her to keep her close. It was a little chilly, so he could see why she was keeping close. Even Serah and Noel were closer to one another than friends normally would have been. It seemed that Roxas and Namine were the only ones alone.
Lightning set a hand on Riku's chest and hid her face in his side, eyes shut. She had enough of gazing at the stars for now; she just wanted to be close to Riku for a little while. She knew they were close a lot lately, but she couldn't stay away after all that happened.

Namine lowered her gaze from the stars. Instead, she looked around her group of friends. While she wasn't as close to some, they were still a tightly knit group of people. Especially the couples that seemed to be forming. Namine smiled weakly at the sight. One day...maybe if she was lucky, she would have something like that. Someone to cherish her and love her like a Somebody deserved to be treated.

The Next Day

Roxas sat at a group table with the other six warriors of Light, and Namine. He assumed that they were going to talk about strategy and whatever they needed to discuss now that they were finally together. Who had time to plan with all the craziness going on though? At least things were finally in their favor with Xehanort being chased out of his own castle. What was their next course of action though?

Riku sat at the table with his friends, and he looked at each of them before he decided he would start things. "...Roxas, Namine," he said softly, attracting the blonde girl's attention. "Last night, the six of us talked." He motioned to everyone but Roxas and Namine, pointing out the six warriors of Light. "And we think that it's safest for the two of you to go back home."

Roxas blinked in surprise, looking around. First off, when did everyone have the time to talk? And secondly... "Why?" he asked, confused. He was one of the seven warriors who had to fight Xehanort, so why wasn't he going to be with the rest of the group?

"Well, Namine doesn't need to be a part of this anymore," Sora began, looking to his Nobody in seriousness. "But we all agreed that she shouldn't go back to the Islands alone, so...we thought you could go with her and train for the final battle on your own." He knew it was random, but he thought it was a good idea.

Namine looked over at Roxas, but then she quickly looked to Kairi. "No... If Roxas needs to stay here and train with you, he can," she said softly. "I can stay here. It's okay." She was sure this place was safer than the Islands anyway. Wouldn't they agree?

"It's not that simple, Namine," Kairi said with a small shake of her head. "You weren't supposed to be brought into this. Because you were, we think it's best that you go home, where you're most comfortable, to recover. And Roxas..." She looked to him, a little hesitant. How was she to know what his reaction would be to this? "We thought this could be your chance at redemption. Protect Namine for us while we're gone."

Roxas frowned slightly in seriousness, but he made eye contact with Kairi and nodded. "Whatever needs to be done," he said simply. You can count on me. He already promised Namine she wouldn't get hurt like she did before. Now he was being given a chance to make sure she was safe. How could he say no? He owed her big time.

Riku glanced over at Kairi to see her smile weakly, but his expression was hard in seriousness. "Alright then," he said softly. "It's settled. You two will leave at dawn." Roxas had a glider now, so he could take Namine back home. The rest of them would continue training here.

Roxas nodded again, looking around at the table in general. "What are we doing till then?" he asked. Did they have something in mind that they talked about last night without him? He was a bit surprised that he wasn't included, but at the same time, he wasn't. They probably talked about him quite a bit.

"We thought we'd try to figure out where each of us are weakest in battle so we can get stronger," Sora explained. "So we'd spend the day training with that kind of stuff in mind." Speed, strength, magic, agility...They'd look at all that stuff and see where improvement was needed.

Aqua nodded in agreement, looking around the table. "The plain behind the castle will work out nicely," she said softly. It was where Riku and Lightning trained before. "We'll decide the order when we get there." Until then, everyone needed to prepare themselves for a long day ahead of them. Training was never easy, for any of them.
"Let's get goin'," Ventus said, rising to his feet and noticing Sora shortly follow suit. They all knew that this was serious business, even Ven. After all, Vanitas was with Xehanort. Ven had to take him down for good this time, though he had no clue how Vanitas was alive. Oh well, figuring it out wouldn't make him disappear. He was alive, whether they liked it or not.

Once they reached the area behind the castle, Riku stood next to Sora after the order was decided. First up, the girls. In other words, Lightning against Kairi. One had the strength, the other had the magic. Opposites colliding, and he was sure it was bound to be interesting. After all, it was just like him and Sora in the past, but now their significant others. "Taking bets?" he asked his best friend, glancing at him with a smirk. Riku crossed his arms over his chest, then making eye contact with Kairi, who was staring at him in disbelief.

"You're next on my list, Riku," Kairi called from where she stood. He nodded at her with that charming smile of his, but she focused back on who was standing opposite her. Lightning. Kairi held her Keyblade out to her side with both hands, eyes hardening as she waited for the signal from one of the others. They would go until their weaknesses were found.

"You know I gotta bet on the wife," Sora smirked, nudging Riku with his elbow. As if he could bet against Kairi. It'd be interesting though. He saw her fight recently, and her magic was pretty strong. Master Yen Sid trained her well. But Lightning had, what, a week or so of training? He wasn't sure what to expect from her. She certainly looked capable enough with her gunblade in her hand.

Riku released a "hmph" in response, looking to Sora before his eyes found Lightning. "Ready, Light?" he called. Kairi was already in her stance, which meant she was ready to get going. Since Lightning hadn't said anything since the order was decided, Riku was wondering if she was set for the first match.
"Yeah," Lightning said, getting into her position. She had adopted a battle stance similar to Riku where she held her blade up by her face, but she held it there with both hands as she looked at her opponent. It was in sword form, and if she did switch it to be a gun, she could only shoot blanks. She didn't actually want to kill Kairi after all, though she was wondering if she would actually be good enough to get Kairi off guard like that.

"Alright," Aqua called, standing a few feet to the side of Riku as she looked at the girls. "Ready...set...go!" She watched as Kairi instantly called to a fire spell, sending multiple balls of flame at Lightning from where she stood. Kairi was going on the offensive immediately, which was good.
