Rude Awakening (1x1 with Peanut)

Posted

As some of you may know, Peanut and I are crazy about Roleplaying, and it's clear, since this is the second one on this site that belongs to us. And we aren't even done with the first one! Regardless, that won't stop us from starting this new roleplay, Rude Awakening!

Kinda dark and mysterious title, eh?

As stated in the title, this RP is one on one, no exceptions. Please refrain from posting in the RP. Instead, follow us on this new journey!

Peanut, my amazing friend, let's begin!

Lightning judged a lot in that moment. Kairi was a magic specialist, and she was going to use magic to keep Lightning at a distance. She probably wasn't the best physical fighter. So that meant Lightning needed to make this close combat. She sent out one fireball that hit the one in her path before running at Kairi, weapon down by her side now. This was going to be interesting.

Riku watched with hard eyes as the two girls fought for a good ten minutes. Kairi's weakness was physical fighting, or people being within close proximity. Lightning's was difficult to locate at first, but after a while, Riku caught it. Lightning relied heavily on physical blows when she had her sword, which meant her magic was weak. After they both dealt one more hit, Riku decided to break it off. "Alright, that's enough," he called. Kairi rubbed her arm that Lightning managed to hit, though she nodded to her with a small smile anyway. At least they were good sports.
Lightning nodded faintly to Kairi in return, forcing a weak smile before she started off to the sidelines. Her one arm was burnt lightly by a fire spell, but she was alright other than that. Kairi was pretty much unscathed too, but then again, things only got serious within the past two minutes. The rest of the time, they were sort of testing each other.

Riku heard Kairi softly mutter a healing spell to fix what injuries she did have, even if they were minor. He looked to Lightning, stepping over and placing a hand on her shoulder. He pulled a potion from his pocket and held it out to her in silence. She did well, holding her own. Their training earlier that week wasn't a waste; she was dodging spells beautifully, but she had to work on them herself.
While Lightning accepted Riku's potion and then sat down with him, Ven and Roxas first prepared their fight and then began going at each other. They went for a few minutes, and Roxas didn't know if it was weird for anyone else to watch them, but it was weird to fight Ven. It was weird fighting period. He felt like he hadn't fought in so long, and he really hadn't. He felt like the old Roxas was a very different person. They went until somebody called them off, and then Riku and Sora took the field.

"Just like old times," Riku commented, stopping a few yards from Sora and summoning his Keyblade to his hand. "Right, Sora?" He couldn't remember how many times they did this in the past, but it was enough to last them a lifetime. But of course, challenging each other was something they always just did. That wasn't ever going to change.
"Not quite," Sora smirked, summoning his Keyblade and getting into position. "This time, I'm gonna win." In the past, Riku almost always won their competitions. But not today. Training purposes aside, he looked forward to facing his friend again. It would definitely be a match to remember.

Riku got into his stance, one hand out in front of him as the other held the Keyblade. "We'll see about that," he said with a crooked smile. Sora could try, but Riku would try harder. He waved his fingers at Sora, silently encouraging him to come toward him. Come on.
Lightning watched the battle unfold, eyes stunned. The two of them were really in sync with each other, even if they were facing as enemies would. They both knew the other's moves so well that they could counter it easily. That cycle continued throughout the whole battle, though Lightning believed she actually noticed a weakness in Riku. He wasn't extremely quick.

"Is that all you got?" Riku called to Sora, a few feet separating them. But then Riku teleported behind his best friend, swinging at his back. Of course, Sora could dodge it. He was quick on his feet, as he always had been.
While Sora dodged the attack and sent a spell at Riku, Lightning believed she realized Sora's weakness as well. He didn't excel in one thing. He was very balanced over all, but that was just it. He didn't have one trump card that he could pull out, no special category he could excel in. Did that count as weakness?

When Sora and Riku were blade to blade, trying to push each other away, Kairi knew that the fight was done. "Alright, you two," she said. "Time's up." It had been ten minutes, so they were done fighting each other. At least for right now. It would happen again, sometime in the future, Kairi was sure. Those two never did give it up.
Sora snickered at his best friend, patting him on the shoulder as he walked back towards Kairi. Riku hadn't won the fight, but neither had Sora. Seemed like both of them would need to train more and try this fight again to see who would win. He wondered what everyone pinpointed their weaknesses as though.

Aqua realized it was her turn, and she looked to her oldest friend. "Ready, Ven?" she called. It was their turn now. And as soon as that was done, Aqua would go against Riku. Master against Master. But this fight was Ventus was bound to be good too. When was the last time she and Ventus had a sparring match?
Roxas watched the fight between Aqua and Ventus, immediately noticing how Ven seemed extremely fast compared to Aqua. But it wasn't just Ven that made Aqua look slow; when she faced off against Riku, she also didn't seem that quick. Her magic was extraordinary though. How did she know all those spells?

Riku placed a hand on Aqua's shoulder as they walked back to the group, knowing that everyone had their weaknesses pin-pointed now. The only thing left to do was work on it in their separate pairings. They would have to determine the pairings carefully; perfecting these mistakes would be crucial to overcoming Xehanort in the final battle.
With specific weaknesses in mind, new pairings were put against each other. Riku and Kairi, for one thing. It seemed to Roxas that Riku would mentor Kairi and get her stronger. Sora could help Aqua with her speed, so they were matched against each other. After being paired up with Aqua, Lightning realized that the Master would teach her magic. As for Lightning...Aqua thought she had something to teach Riku, so they were paired up to begin their fight right now. But Light was afraid Riku would be egotistical about having her teach him, since she was pretty new at this. But that would only happen depending on how this battle went.

Riku stood opposite Lightning, weapon in hand. The last time they were facing off against each other, it was Lightning against his simulation. But it was real now. He doubted she would be happy with this, but...he wasn't entirely happy with the fact that she was teaching him something. Wasn't he the one who had been fighting since he was young, even with a toy sword? He stared at Lightning, though his ego was telling him this was stupid. Riku was the more experienced one.

Sora noticed Lightning charge right in after the fight began, though he was a bit surprised she was bold enough to approach him head on. Most people found Riku extremely intimidating, and rightfully so. His friend was a good fighter. But then again, he saw earlier that Lightning was as well. He was impressed with her.

Riku's eyes hardened with Lightning came in toward him, and he didn't hesitate parrying her attacks. She was faster than he anticipated, but he managed to block her attacks anyway. But that was the thing; he managed. That wasn't very good.
Light fought Riku for a good few minutes, though she eventually had to go on the defensive. She didn't know what the others on the sideline were perceiving but it was only encouraging them to be Riku's teacher. She was so light on her feet, so graceful and calculated with dodging attacks. But with that grace came speed. That was something Riku needed.

Riku swung at Lightning again, but when his blade missed, he grunted in aggravation. He jumped back, some distance separating him and Lightning as he breathed heavily. He gripped his sword tightly out of frustration, glancing from his friends to Lightning. What the hell? he wondered. Was he really that slow?
"Good job, guys," Sora called, deciding that it was time to end the fight. He had shared a look with Aqua, and they both seemed to agree who would be Riku's teacher. While Riku taught Lightning a lot recently, he hadn't focused on developing the strengths that she already had. He missed out on a vital part of her strengths while trying to instill her with his strengths.

Riku sent his weapon away, lifting his arm to run across his forehead. He worked up a sweat during that match, and now it was Sora and Aqua's turn. He nodded to them as he headed over to the sidelines. He crossed his arms as soon as he was standing still, seeing Aqua go to get into position. Of course, he wasn't forgetting about what he just went through. But he would have to push it aside to help his friends.

Lightning noticed Riku appeared a bit ticked off, so she sat a few feet away and watched the rest of the fights. Roxas didn't fight anymore since he wasn't sticking around, but by the end of the day, they developed their list. In the first column, teachers were written. In the second, their students. It read as follows:

Aqua--Lightning

Lightning--Riku

Riku--Kairi

Kairi--Ven

Ven--Sora

Sora--Aqua
