Rude Awakening (1x1 with Peanut)

Posted

As some of you may know, Peanut and I are crazy about Roleplaying, and it's clear, since this is the second one on this site that belongs to us. And we aren't even done with the first one! Regardless, that won't stop us from starting this new roleplay, Rude Awakening!

Kinda dark and mysterious title, eh?

As stated in the title, this RP is one on one, no exceptions. Please refrain from posting in the RP. Instead, follow us on this new journey!

Peanut, my amazing friend, let's begin!

"Point being that your heart is a victim to the Darkness if you don't stop hiding behind your shell," Riku said, putting it bluntly. "Been there, and it nearly killed me. I doubt that's a fate you rea

Kairi looked over Sora's shoulder to see the list, and when she did, she looked to her friends. "Good work today, guys," she said with a smile. "Tomorrow, after Namine and Roxas leave?" She saw a few of them nod, and she did as well. She was looking forward to this. It would be challenging, but it would be worth it in the end.
Lightning nodded faintly, stealing a glimpse of Riku out of the corner of her eye. It had been a while since their fight, considering that it was supper time now. But he hadn't really spoken to her since their showdown. Was she right in her assumption? Was he really not alright with her training him?

Riku turned his head when a servant called to them. Dinner time, and right on schedule. He and his friends started toward the castle, though he went in silence. He was starving, but he always had been. Then again, he was always certain ways--stronger, more confident. But now that all seemed rocky, because of Lightning. Was he really that bad, that she had to teach him?
The next day, Lightning and Riku had the training room. If anyone else was training, they weren't currently doing it in that room. She was glad for that--that meant only Riku would be critiquing her teaching skills. If he actually showed up. He was five minutes late, and he was usually prompt...Should she have scolded him for that? As a teacher, she should have expected to see him on time.

Riku walked down the hall toward the training room, seeing that the door was left open. That meant that Lightning was probably waiting for him still. He sighed, running a hand through his hair briefly before he entered the room. He wasn't too thrilled about this. He was the Master... He wasn't supposed to be trained by a rookie.
Lightning's eyes were already set on the door, so she noticed Riku's presence immediately. "Do you have a reason for being late?" she asked quietly. He didn't look like he did, so...what did she do? Punish him? That would have been weird, considering that he probably shouldn't have been her student.

"No," Riku said lowly, turning and shutting the door behind him. Once it was shut, he flipped a switch by the door that let the people outside know that training was in session. Whatever training Riku had to do, anyway.
Lightning frowned, eyebrows furrowing. What did she do...? "Alright," she said quietly. "Sprint to the other side of the room and back to me." She had a theory with Riku that she wanted to test out. But sprinting could be seen as discipline but also formal training, depending on how Riku viewed it.

Riku blinked, though he then lifted an eyebrow. Lightning didn't just... "What?" he asked in surprise. He didn't hear her right. She didn't just tell him to sprint the length of the room, did she? Because that would be ridiculous.
"Sprint," Lightning repeated, eyeing Riku before she looked to where he was meant to go. "To that side of the room and then back to me." The room wasn't a mile long or anything silly like that. Besides, Riku should have been just fine running. He ran a marathon in the past. Granted, it was a lighter pace, but she had a reason for telling him to sprint instead.

Riku released a single-noted laugh without humor, unable to believe this. When he saw that Lightning was serious, he rolled his eyes and shook his head. Whatever. He set his footing and then sprinted across the room, touching the wall before making his way back to Lightning. He stopped next to her, barely winded from the exercise.
"Two more times across, then back to me," Lightning said. That's for the laugh. She was serious about this, but clearly Riku wasn't. She needed to get him to take her seriously somehow. That would only be done if she proved she had something to teach him. This time, there would be a catch. When he came to return to her, she'd run away.

Riku fought the urge to roll his eyes, insteading grinding his teeth together. Okay, fine. He did as Lightning said, running back and forth twice, on his last sprint back. This was ridiculous. He wasn't in gym class anymore.
When Riku was on his last bit, Lightning turned and ran away from him. This wasn't some game, though she feared that was how Riku would pursue it. He just needed to humor her. There was a method to her madness, whether he realized it or not. Now he just had to catch her.

Riku grunted slightly in surprise, eyebrows furrowing. "What are you doing?" he called, starting to run after Lightning. This wasn't cat and mouse they were playing here. He and Lightning were supposed to be training, not playing tag.
"I said come back to me," Lightning called, making a sharp left turn. "So come on." She wasn't going to make it that easy on him. And she wasn't about to be cornered either. Riku may have been good at distance moves, but she feared that when it came to precise moves, he wasn't cutting it. That was what she was testing now.

Riku followed Lightning's lead, turning and hurrying after her. But after a few minutes of pointless chasing, he decided to cut it short. He grunted, teleporting in front of Lightning and stopping her with his hands when she ran into him. He held her steady, looking down at her. Were they done now?
Lightning grunted, hitting Riku's chest roughly. Even if his hands kept her balanced, she was ticked off at him for cheating. "You're not taking this seriously at all, are you?" she snapped, glaring up at him. He just ended the exercise early while she was assessing him. And her fears had been right. His fine motor skills and quick movements weren't great.

"You're the one encouraging a game of tag," Riku quipped, voice low. He took his hands off of Lightning's upper arms, instead letting them fall to his sides. He didn't understand what she was doing. He knew he wasn't as quick as Sora, but so what? His strength made up for it.
"I was testing your general motor skills and finer motor skills," Lightning snapped again, defensive. "Those sharp turns of yours were awful. You focused too much on straight running and speed in your past training. The smaller, more precise movements are much slower than they should be." She glared up at him, daring for him to call the exercise stupid. She got a lot of information out of that.

"Alright, coach," Riku piped, lifting his hands slightly in a light shrug. He took a few steps back, though his eyes remained on Lightning. "What next?" He was a slow poke, he got it. But what did she plan on doing to improve that?
Light's eyes remained on Riku, glaring at him before she turned around and headed to the other side of the room. Though she was heading to the computer, it also could have appeared she was heading to the door. What would Riku think of that? Would he repent of the attitude and take her seriously?

Riku fought the urge to roll his eyes when Lightning walked away. Instead, he took a step forward. "Light, wait," he called, voice gentler than before. She couldn't walk away... Riku knew he was being a little harsh, but he didn't like this... Lightning was supposed to learn from him, not the other way around.
Lightning stopped by the computer, turning around to face Riku. "Save your energy," she said. "You're gonna need it." She flipped a switch and panels on the floor changed to blue and red. This was part of the next exercise, and he better have humored her with this one. She was trying to help him.

Riku looked at the floor in confusion, seeing them change colors. What was going on? He glanced back up at Lightning before taking a small step back, one of the floor panels turning red just then. Clearly this was an exercise...but what kind?
