Rude Awakening (1x1 with Peanut)

Posted

As some of you may know, Peanut and I are crazy about Roleplaying, and it's clear, since this is the second one on this site that belongs to us. And we aren't even done with the first one! Regardless, that won't stop us from starting this new roleplay, Rude Awakening!

Kinda dark and mysterious title, eh?

As stated in the title, this RP is one on one, no exceptions. Please refrain from posting in the RP. Instead, follow us on this new journey!

Peanut, my amazing friend, let's begin!

"Point being that your heart is a victim to the Darkness if you don't stop hiding behind your shell," Riku said, putting it bluntly. "Been there, and it nearly killed me. I doubt that's a fate you rea

"What do you have planned for later?" Riku asked, lowering his gaze to their hands near each other. Certainly this wasn't it. Riku knew Lightning, and he was sure she planned this ahead of time. And it wouldn't be any easier than the last exercise. She was going to work him for what he was worth.
"That's for me to know and you to find out," Lightning stated simply. She wasn't going to tell him the plans ahead of time and spoil things for him. Besides, she decided she might need to make some adjustments. She wanted it to be as challenging as possible.

"Well," Riku said, running his hand along Lightning's arm. "Are you going to reward me for my efforts, or is that gonna have to wait?" He imagined she had something for him to do now; after all, time was crunched. Xehanort wouldn't give them much more time to prepare for the war, since he waited long enough. It was do or die.
"Tell you what," Lightning piped, taking back her arms. "You get the privilege of standing here and holding me while I redo the program. Sound good?" Of course, he wouldn't know what she was doing. He'd figure it out when she gave him instruction.

Riku whirled around instantly, wrapping his arms around Lightning and holding her close. "Alright with me," he muttered in Lightning's ear. As if he was going to pass up that opportunity. Who knew how much time he and Lightning had left together?
Lightning smiled, turning a bit towards the keyboard while in Riku's arms. "About time you stopped sassing me," she stated, opening up the program on the computer. She could multitask easily as long as he didn't start tickling her. He wouldn't though; this was still their training time. It was serious business.

Riku only smiled, turning his head and placing a kiss into Lightning's hair as he held her. Once he pulled back, he leaned his jaw against the side of her head and watched her work. Whatever program she was pulling up, he didn't really think twice about it; his mind was on the girl in his arms. She was stronger than he remembered, but still the same. Still the Lightning he fell for.
"I expect an apology," Lightning said after a few moments, typing something into the computer at the same time. He was a jerk to her the past day--well, not really a jerk, but he wasn't the same as he had been before he let his ego get to him. Hopefully he learned his lesson. If not, she'd beat him till he got it.

Riku tensed a little at the words, but after a moment, he sighed. "Right..." he said softly. "Sorry for earlier. You know how I can be sometimes." It was unfortunate that he was that way with her, but...he couldn't help it. His ego got in the way of a lot of things in the past, and that was one of the things that led him to Darkness. But Riku wouldn't be traveling that path again. Ever.
"You'll just need to find a way to make it up to me," Lightning responded softly. He had his excuse, but she didn't want excuses. She wanted repentance. He made a mistake of disrespecting her and rolling his eyes at her. That was a very stupid move of his.

"Right," Riku said again, his hold on Lightning loosening slightly. He wasn't sure what he could exactly do, but he figured the best step to make towards it was by training hard under her watch. Lightning never did like laziness, and Riku wasn't about to get his rear kicked into gear because he felt like testing her. As he realized before, this was helping him get better, gain speed. He needed it for the war that was coming up.
Lightning finished her work after a few minutes, stepping out of Riku's arms once the program was running. And it actually worked the way she imagined it. "Hmph," she hummed, walking to the other side of the room. This was definitely going to be hard.

Riku turned a little, following Lightning with his eyes. That hum was somewhat descriptive of what was to come, because it seemed satisfied. Knowing Lightning, Riku had a feeling that his hunch was correct; this was going to be even more difficult than the last test.
"Change of pace," Lightning said, stopping by the other wall and leaning her back against it. "Each color you step on has different meaning. Red means you need to freeze. Yellow, stand on your toes. Green is come at me fast as you can. Mess up and I knock you back however far I want to." Maybe it wasn't fair, but this was her session. Nobody said it would be fair.

Riku lifted an eyebrow slightly at the instructions, but once he saw the colors flashing along the floor, he smirked. He set his feet and looked to Lightning. "Game on," he said lowly, confidently. He doubted this would be a piece of cake, but he would take it regardless. Lightning was his teacher this time around, and her rules were meant to be followed. He would respect that.
Lightning fought the urge to smirk at Riku's confidence. It was like he was challenging her to make it harder... "If it's too easy, I'll yell out instruction's that you need to follow right away." Whether she told him to drop, do a back flip, whatever...He had to do it. And he had to do it to her satisfaction.

Riku lifted his hand, giving Lightning a mock salute before focusing on the program. Just as she said, with every color, he did something different. He worked on speed when it was green, and when the panel turned red, he froze. Yellow, he stood on his toes, learning to balance himself better that way. Of course, it didn't go without some screw-ups. Lightning made sure to correct him on those.
"I'm waiting, Riku," Lightning taunted gently. She could have barked it at him and been a very mean teacher, but she wouldn't be heartless towards him. She knew how that frustrated her in her own training. No, Riku just needed a little nudge in the right direction, that was all. A little more of a challenge for him to accept.

Riku glanced over at Lightning, but then he realized he couldn't do that or he would mess up. He moved from tile to tile, waiting for the green ones. When he saw them, he sprinted toward Lightning immediately. She was his prize for training, or so he believed. That was good enough for him.
Lightning smirked, seeing Riku hop from green tile to green tile as he raced towards her. "Drop!" she ordered suddenly. He was moving quicker now, but that didn't mean that he could be unprepared for other commands and actions. Though she doubted he would have to drop to his stomach in a real battle, he still needed to have the ability to do it.

Due to his past with fighting, when a call came that urgent and loud, Riku didn't hesitate. He dropped to the floor immediately, looking at Lightning with alarmed eyes. What did she tell him to do that for? He almost wanted to glance behind him to see if anything was wrong, but that would be ridiculous. Lightning would have been on the defensive if that was the case.
"Good," Light praised, her smirk remaining. Riku was only a few yards away from her now, but she thought she registered alarm in his expression. No, it was probably just him being alert. She had caught him off guard after all. "Back up and towards me." She wouldn't force him to stay on his stomach, though she could have done it. He actually obeyed all her orders now.

Riku got back on his feet quickly, lowering his eyes from Lightning to the tiles. He moved from one to the other, and when he finally reached Lightning, he stopped right in front of her. Done, he thought. That exercise was over...for now.
Lightning lifted her eyes to Riku, and though pride shone in them, her next words were serious. "Need a break?" If he did, then they'd take one. Riku knew his limits well after all. And he wouldn't be slacking off at a critical time like this with the threat of Xehanort.

Riku shook his head. "No," he said, keeping eye contact. "Let's keep going." He wanted to get better, faster, stronger. It was for the good of not only himself, but also his friends. If he was quicker, he could help them if need be. It would benefit everyone.
