Rude Awakening (1x1 with Peanut)

Posted

As some of you may know, Peanut and I are crazy about Roleplaying, and it's clear, since this is the second one on this site that belongs to us. And we aren't even done with the first one! Regardless, that won't stop us from starting this new roleplay, Rude Awakening!

Kinda dark and mysterious title, eh?

As stated in the title, this RP is one on one, no exceptions. Please refrain from posting in the RP. Instead, follow us on this new journey!

Peanut, my amazing friend, let's begin!

Lightning nodded, stepping past Riku and heading over to the computer. "We're going back to the first exercise," she said, speaking loudly enough he could hear. "But this time you'll be going side to side." So in other words, he had to stay on the green tiles and make his way towards Lightning while he was moving to the side. He'd be dancing over his feet for a while till he got the hang of it.

Riku remained silent, watching Lightning for a moment. She was taking this very seriously, and he appreciated it. She was determined to help him get better, no matter what. The fact that she cared so much was...flattering. Nobody cared this much for Riku, ever.
Lightning set up the old program and saw the floor change so that all the yellows were gone and red and green replaced those tiles. She leaned her back against the wall, though she slid down to a sitting position to watch this one. She didn't exactly sleep well last night since she and Riku weren't on the best terms. Amazing how much he affected her now. She lifted a hand and waved for him to get started with the challenge and make his way to her.

Riku nodded a little before focusing on the tiles, beginning to move. This one required not only patience, but also great timing on his part. It was difficult, and his patience was tested every time he messed up. He would fight the urge to curse under his breath and keep going, but he didn't give up. This was no time for that, not when Xehanort's fight was so close.
"Every step you take, turn and face the opposite wall," Lightning called when Riku was halfway done. He'd constantly be rotating himself. Not only did he have to hit the right tiles, but he had to stay balanced with that extra movement. And of course, he knew that speed was a big part of this as well. That was obvious.

"Definitely not making this easy, are you Light?" Riku called, doing as she said. He doubted he would get dizzy; he did multiple flips when he was striking foes down. He would be okay, or so he assumed. This could get unpredictable quickly.
"Words like that only make me want to challenge you more," Light snickered from her spot. But at least Riku didn't think that this was easy. She was glad that he was being pushed and actually listening to her now, unlike when he first came in here. Maybe she was pressuring him so much because she was still a bit ticked at him for having an attitude with her.

"Bring it on, baby," Riku called with a smirk. He moved quickly around the room, spinning and stepping. Far from easy, but it would be worth the effort. He would get better and faster, to protect the things that mattered. His friends, his family, and Lightning.
Lightning's smirk remained at Riku's challenge. He was a fool for telling her to challenge him more. She turned up the speed and watched him begin to stumble around more, and then she turned it up further and noticed him trip over his own feet and land on his stomach right in front of her. That was when she laughed at him, just because he looked so silly.

Riku lifted his head a little, looking at the girl before him. "Hey, at least I made it," he said. And at least I made you laugh. That was probably the best part of the entire stumble. But he was getting faster, she had to admit that.
"Yeah, you made it," Lightning agreed with the same expression. She lifted a hand and ruffled Riku's hair lightly, seeing in his eyes that he was tired. She couldn't really blame him though--looking at the lights for so long was messing with her head as well. It was time that they took a breather so that somebody else could use the training room.

Riku squinted slightly at the gesture, but then he lowered his head with a sigh. He was beat. All of that stepping and dropping and turning... And the mental work along with it. Lightning pushed him to his limits today. He was ready to call it quits.
"C'mon, lazy," Lightning teased after a few more moments of playing with Riku's hair and smoothing it out. "I'm not carrying you out of here." She rose to her feet and turned to the computer, working on shutting down the program. They were done in here, at least for now. Somebody else was probably ready to use the room now.

Riku grunted, rising to his feet. He then stretched, knowing that he could definitely use this breather. What else could they do for the day, though? Relaxing sounded good to him, but then again, they didn't really have time for that. Xehanort was getting closer to his goals the more they sat around.
Lightning shut off the computer and then headed to the door, sure that Riku would follow on his own. He had already trained with Kairi--he did it that morning since Kairi was a morning person. It was probably mid-afternoon now if she had to take a guess at the time. She was going to train with Aqua after dinner with magic, but there really wasn't anything she could do to prepare for that.

Riku's longer legs allowed him to catch up with Lightning easily, and when he was beside her, he wrapped an arm around her. "Good job, coach," he said, walking down the hall with her. She worked him hard, and he was sure she was proud of herself. She had reason to be. A rookie was training a Master. That didn't exactly happen often.
"Hmph," Lightning hummed, gently leaning into Riku but not wrapping an arm around his lower back like she normally would have. "You know you have a lot of sucking up to do, right?" Like she briefly mentioned earlier, the attitude that he had really wasn't appreciated. He'd have to find some way to make it up to her, and it seemed like sucking up was going to be his method.

"Yeah, I know," Riku said. And he was perfectly okay with it. After all, it wasn't like he was just going to let Lightning be upset with him forever. How could he, especially when he was falling for her every day? It probably wasn't the best time, since Xehanort was still out there, but it couldn't really be helped. It was fate.
"Better get to it then," Lightning said, looking over at Riku as they walked. Her eyes showed that a challenge was being given, and knowing him, he'd accept it. He was never one to turn down a challenge, especially not one dealt out by her.

Riku met Lightning's gaze and simply smirked. He stopped walking and lifting Lightning from the floor, sweeping her off her feet. He held her to his chest and looked at her. "Good start?" he checked. Girls always liked being swept off their feet, but then again, Lightning was no ordinary girl.
"It's an alright start," Lightning said with a slight smirk, her arm going around his shoulders. She was sort of playing hard-to-get, only this time, she was playing hard-to-please. Riku couldn't just sweep her off her feet to please her and win her over again. She didn't know what she wanted exactly, but she'd let him do a sufficient amount of sucking up before she forgave him.

Riku's smirk remained as he started walking. "Where to, m'lady?" he asked lowly. He wasn't sure what they would do now that training was over, but he was up for anything. Food sounded great, but he would have to wait until dinner.
"You don't have anything romantic planned out yourself?" Lightning asked, shaking her head at Riku in mock disbelief. "It's gonna be hard to win me over again if things keep going like this." Of course Riku didn't really lose her--she loved him despite his ego and the frustration he directed at her recently. This was mostly fun and games.

"I won you over without romantics before, didn't I?" Riku asked, glancing at Lightning before focusing forward again. If he remembered correctly, all he had to do in the past was be himself. That seemed to do the trick.
"That's what you think," Lighting piped with the same teasing expression. Riku thought he won her over with romantic tricks before, but in reality, he won her over by being her friend. It was more than that though, since she now had other friends who were guys and she didn't fall for them. Riku was special.
