Rude Awakening (1x1 with Peanut)

Posted

As some of you may know, Peanut and I are crazy about Roleplaying, and it's clear, since this is the second one on this site that belongs to us. And we aren't even done with the first one! Regardless, that won't stop us from starting this new roleplay, Rude Awakening!

Kinda dark and mysterious title, eh?

As stated in the title, this RP is one on one, no exceptions. Please refrain from posting in the RP. Instead, follow us on this new journey!

Peanut, my amazing friend, let's begin!

Roxas found himself chuckling again, seeing Namine's expression. "You look like a kid in a candy store," he stated, approaching the puppies that were in the front window. He reached out and pulled out of the puppies out, holding her out for Namine to take. Since she didn't seem to know where to start, he thought he would help her out.

Namine turned when Roxas walked to the puppies, her eyes following him. When he took one of the puppies out of the pen, her eyes softened. The little thing was so cute! She took her with a small smile, eyes moving to Roxas. "Better than being sad, right?" she asked softly, the puppy sniffing her hair and skin. It only made her smile more; it tickled.
"I'd say it's an improvement," Roxas agreed with a smirk. That puppy sure did like Namine--she kept on moving her head closer to Namine's so that she could lick her on the face. But the dog's tongue was too small; she kept on trying to lick her and coming up short. Even Roxas had to smile at that.

That smirk made Namine blush a little, the girl finding the look....attractive. Her eyes diverted to the play pen for the puppies, and she saw one pawing at the glass. "Go on," she said to Roxas, motioning with her her head toward the puppy that wanted him. He had to participate too.
"Nuh uh," Roxas said, shaking his head in defiance. "I can't get cute with the puppies. Sora would never let me live it down..." And Riku, if Riku actually liked Roxas after everything, would also tease him for it. Riku kept his feelings concealed because of everything with Xehanort, which made sense. Roxas had a lot of people to win over again, especially the girl in front of him.

"Come on," Namine begged softly, taking a step closer to Roxas and the pen. "I won't tell." She looked from him to the puppy and then back again. He brought her here; that was cute enough. Namine would keep this little outing between the two of them if that was what Roxas preferred.
Roxas glanced at Namine, at the puppies, and then back again. And then back to the pen. Okay, maybe he had another reason for not holding a puppy...He really wasn't sure what to do. Sure, he passed the one off to Namine, but that was it. He could try to hold one though, just to make her happier. He reached down and picked one up, who was looking at him expectantly. The pup wanted to be cuddled with...

Namine held her puppy with one hand when she saw Roxas hesitate, and that was when the puppy she was holding started to lick her cheek. She smiled at the gesture, and at how Roxas was with his puppy. So...innocent and clueless. It was actually kind of...cute. "Here," she said, using her free hand and putting it against Roxas's. She gently started pressing it so he would know to hold the puppy closer, not at arms length.
"Um," Roxas said dumbly, looking from Namine's hand to the puppy as both got closer. But he let her guide him until the puppy was close enough to do its next action. He lifted a paw and set it on Roxas's nose, drawing out a nervous smile from the blond. Alright, this was a cute moment he got dragged into.

Namine couldn't help but laugh softly, smiling at the look on Roxas's face. She took her hand away from Roxas's and held her own puppy, allowing it to lick her face as she watched her friend. That was what she could call him now--her friend. He was genuine and nice to her, and she didn't make him that way. Roxas's friendship was real this time.
"Alright," Roxas admitted after a few moments, looking to Namine as his dog lowered his paw off his nose. "He's cute." Even he had to admit that. Granted, he wasn't really a tough guy anymore. He was genuinely a kind, caring, and compassionate person. But cute with animals? Not so much, or so he would have thought.

Namine smiled up at Roxas before her eyes darted back to the puppy in her arms. It wanted the puppy in Roxas's arms, leaning away from Namine and straining its neck to reach him. Namine stepped forward, closer to Roxas so her puppy could reach her friend. The two puppies began sniffing at each other, and one of them sneezed. Namine couldn't help but chuckle a little. How cute!
Roxas found himself chuckling softly as well, the blond shaking his head. Pets were something else. He could see now why so many people wanted puppies--somehow, their actions just made you smile. Even for people who were previously so sad, like Namine. He glanced up at her, seeing her smile. That was so good to see.

Namine felt Roxas's eyes on her, something she had been feeling a lot of lately. Which was strange. She looked up at him, her small smile remaining at his expression. He seemed happy. But what made him that way? Was it her happiness, however temporary it was?
Roxas shrugged lightly at Namine's expression, deciding to not conceal the truth. "It's nice to see you smile again," he said quietly. If she thought he wished her sorrow, she was crazy. Yes, she manipulated him into liking her. Loneliness was one of her greatest weaknesses. But she had been a true friend before that, and saved his life. He wasn't befriending her completely out of obligation--it was something he wanted to do.

Namine felt her blush return, but only slightly. She glanced down at their puppies before her eyes found Roxas again. "You too," she said with a faint nod. It was good to see Roxas smile too. He always did have a great smile. The world deserved to see it.
Roxas nodded faintly, smiling in the same manner back at Namine. When the puppy in his arms yapped, though, he returned his gaze to him. "What?" he scolded lightly, speaking in a baby voice. As soon as he realized that, he blinked in horror.

Namine couldn't help but laugh, the look on Roxas's face causing that laughter. He was good at doing that today. He brought her here, after all. He was making her day better already, and it hadn't been even an hour since he caught her in the commons area.
Roxas looked up at Namine and scowled lightly before putting the puppy back into the pen. "That's it," he said, lifting his hands. "We're out of here. I can't embarrass myself anymore..." But if that was what it took to get Namine laughing, he'd probably do it. She had a nice laugh.

Namine's laughter quieted as she shook her head. "Not until we see the kittens and the bunnies," she said softly. She stepped past Roxas to put her puppy down as well. Once it was out of her hands, it ran to play with the others. Namine stood upright and looked to Roxas, smiling expectantly. She was staying until she saw the kittens and bunnies, and she hoped Roxas hung around with her.
"Oh boy," Roxas mumbled, though his tone was lighthearted as he looked to the rest of the shop. "What did I get myself into this time?" He knew Namine would want him to hold the other animals, and he would. All it would cost her was a smile and he'd do it gladly.

Namine's smile remained, as it had for the past few minutes. "A cute situation," she said in response. That was what all of this was; cute. She stepped over to where the kittens were in their own little pen, though this one was more like a cage since the kittens could jump higher than the puppies. She bent down in front of the pen and placed her finger through the gate, where a kitten sniffed her fingertip. Just like the puppies, the kittens were adorable as well.
Roxas shook his head lightly, following Namine to the kittens. "This really better stay between us," he said, holding out a finger for another kitten to sniff. Sora really would tease him if he found out about Roxas not only bringing Namine here, but also participating in this cute situation.

"Promise," Namine said, turning her head. She looked at Roxas, taking in this site. He was so...gentle, kind. It was different than how he had been for the past couple years. It was a good different, though, but it was also familiar. Familiar in the way that she knew it, since he had been this way when they were in Twilight Town together.
"If I find out you break that promise, I'll get you back somehow," Roxas teased, glancing over at the girl. He wasn't sure exactly what he would do though. Nothing too serious; Namine was in a delicate state right now and he didn't want to hurt her. Amazing how much that rang true. He didn't just want her safe--he wanted to be the one to ensure that she was that way. Why would he feel that way though?
