Rude Awakening (1x1 with Peanut)

Posted

As some of you may know, Peanut and I are crazy about Roleplaying, and it's clear, since this is the second one on this site that belongs to us. And we aren't even done with the first one! Regardless, that won't stop us from starting this new roleplay, Rude Awakening!

Kinda dark and mysterious title, eh?

As stated in the title, this RP is one on one, no exceptions. Please refrain from posting in the RP. Instead, follow us on this new journey!

Peanut, my amazing friend, let's begin!

"Fair enough," Namine said with a small nod. She kept her eyes on Roxas's, allowing the eye contact to continue. His eyes were so pretty... So reassuring. It was just like she thought back in Twilight Town. The way he looked at her always made her feel safe, even when she was in trouble. Namine tore her gaze from Roxas after a moment, feeling a paw against her fingertip. She cooed softly at the kitten that was lingering by her hand, and she quietly opened the gate to hold the kitten in her arms.
Roxas glanced away, blushing for some reason when Namine focused on the kitten. He caught something new in her eyes now--not just sorrow or gratitude for being cheered up. It was closer to how Riku and Lightning gazed at each other for a long time. And they all knew where that led. How could Namine feel that way about him after all he did though? It was crazy to assume that could happen...

Namine held the kitten in her grasp lightly before she held it out for Roxas. "Here," she said softly. He was holding this kitten and she would get another. He would hold him, right? The kitten was too cute to resist, at least in Namine's eyes.
"Oh boy," Roxas murmured again, though he did accept the kitten. The way he saw it, this was Namine's day. After what he did, he didn't necessarily deserve to be happy. But he was happy, being here in their home world and being together at a place so happy. He wouldn't have traded this away.

Namine smiled again, looking at the sight before her. Roxas was so gentle with the kitten, who didn't know any better than to place its paws on his shirt and lean up to sniff his face. It was a cute sight, and if she had a camera, she would have taken a picture. But since she didn't, she took another kitten out of the pen to be held. Its fur was soft against her hands, and it purred as it rubbed its head against her chin. How sweet...
"Looks like you might leave this store with a new friend," Roxas chuckled, looking from his kitten to Namine. She got along with all the animals so well that it seemed like she wanted to take them all home with her. They actually were pretty cute...

Namine hummed softly in acknowledgement. "I would love to take any of them home," she told Roxas softly. She meant the kittens or the puppies, maybe even a bunny, but... "I can't, though. The apartment complex doesn't allow animals." But it was definitely lonely living on her own. She only saw people when she was at school, and sometimes she and Roxas met up. They had only been home for a day, so it hadn't happened yet.

Roxas hummed sympathetically, taking a hand away from his kitten. "Might be better that way," he said. "A pet would probably get lonely while you're at school." Their classes kept both of them busy. Well, before they were whisked away anyway.

Namine gazed at the kitten in her grasp, but then she set it back in its pen. Roxas was right. Loneliness was a common theme with her, so she doubted it would be any different in her household. She looked over at him and smiled weakly, nodding in agreement.
"Onto the bunnies, then," Roxas said softly, putting his kitten away as well. There were other animals in the store too, but Namine seemed to be only interested in these three pets. Whatever she wanted to do was fine with him.

Namine tilted her head a little. "Are you sure?" she asked. They didn't have to stay, after all. If Roxas wanted to leave, they could. Especially if he had class. Namine didn't want to keep him from his studies.
Roxas smiled faintly, jerking his head towards the last fury critters. "Of course I am," he said. He already missed over two weeks of classes. One more day wasn't going to kill him. Besides, it was only class. Some things were more important.

Namine smiled weakly as well, nodding to Roxas before she rose to her feet. She really did appreciate his kindness, and when they went over to the bunnies, she saw it focused on the creatures. He was so good with them, gentle and caring. The old Roxas, the one who was so angry all the time, wouldn't have tolerated this visit.
An hour or two later, Roxas and Namine found their way back to the girl's apartment. He was staying with her, after all. He promised to keep her safe, and that was what he was going to do. But he also hoped to keep her happy, like she had been at the pet store. "I didn't think I'd be able to tear you away from that place," he joked lightly, slipping off his shoes and heading to the couch. Namine loved that store.

Namine smiled, placing her keys on the counter and setting her bag down on the ground. "Mm," she hummed. "They were just so little, so innocent..." It reminded her of how she was a couple years ago, locked up in her own cage--the white room in Castle Oblivion. And then again in Twilight Town. Once that realization had come to her, Namine had willingly left the store. The similarity was too much for her to handle.
"I'm not even going there," Roxas said lightly. He would get sidetracked into talking about the cuteness of the animals and he would never hear the end of it. But yes...they were innocent looking and little. The rabbit that nibbled on his finger wasn't so innocent though--that had hurt.

Namine didn't say anything, agreeing in silence. It was best not to go there. Roxas was right about that. But he didn't know her inner thoughts, which was a good thing. She had a feeling he would scold her for thinking of the past, especially since it was supposed to be put behind her a long time ago. But now that she couldn't draw--and if she did, she drew the Organization--things were worse. How was she supposed to let that go?
Roxas heard something like a whimper, and he couldn't see Namine's face fully from where he was. "You say something?" he asked. He definitely just heard something, though it didn't quite sound...right. He didn't know how to explain it.

"No," Namine replied, continuing to put the clean dishes in their proper places. She didn't know where the question came from, since she hadn't said anything. But her thoughts were loud and clear, at least to her. She was a mess, but she couldn't let Roxas know. He would... Well, she wasn't sure what he would do.
Roxas heard the noise again, though it sounded more like a little...woof. "Are you sure?" he asked, rising to his feet and heading over towards the blonde. "I keep hearing something..." Maybe it wasn't her, but something was making noise. He just didn't know what it was.
  • Author
Namine stopped putting the dishes away, turning to where Roxas's voice was coming from. Her eyebrows furrowed slightly in confusion at his insistence, but that was when she heard it too. A small whimper. Eyes widening, she looked to her bag, seeing it move a little. "Roxas," she said in worry, approaching her bag and kneeling down next to it. Why was it moving? Why was it making noise? There couldn't be a...puppy in there, right?
Roxas's eyes widened as well, the blond kneeling down next to it beside Namine. He reached for it and gently opened the flap. He was startled when he noticed what had been causing the bag to move. A little puppy.

Namine gasped softly, eyes widening at the sight before her. A puppy snuck into her bag? She watched as the little thing hopped out of her bag and started sniffing the wooden floor, but she was only silent. How could this be happening? Did she accidentally....steal a puppy from the store?
Roxas's eyes were the same size as Namine's, though he was calmer than she was. "He wasn't in the displays," he said. They didn't have this breed of dog at the store--they had breeds like Labradors and Golden Retrievers. This dog didn't fit that category, so he wasn't stolen from the store. But...Roxas noticed a man bring in a box of puppies to get rid of. Did one of those puppies somehow find its way into Namine's bag?
  • Author
Namine felt a bit of relief at the words, since it meant she didn't take one from the store. But this one... "You mean she," she corrected. This puppy was a girl, and it was clearly a pretty breed. Whatever it was. Namine wasn't sure.
