Rude Awakening (1x1 with Peanut)

Posted

As some of you may know, Peanut and I are crazy about Roleplaying, and it's clear, since this is the second one on this site that belongs to us. And we aren't even done with the first one! Regardless, that won't stop us from starting this new roleplay, Rude Awakening!

Kinda dark and mysterious title, eh?

As stated in the title, this RP is one on one, no exceptions. Please refrain from posting in the RP. Instead, follow us on this new journey!

Peanut, my amazing friend, let's begin!

"Uh, right," Roxas agreed, briefly glancing down at the dog. It was a "she" alright. She was gazing up at him now with those brown eyes, wagging her tiny little tail. When he didn't pet her, the dog took to sniffing his leg. "There was that guy that brought in a box of dogs," he said, looking back to Namine. "This little guy--er, girl--probably crawled out of the box somehow."

"And into my bag," Namine finished for him. Roxas was right. Now that she remembered, these were the puppies in the box. She sat back on her legs, brushing her hair back with one hand in worry. "I'm not supposed to have animals, Roxas." What was she going to do?

"She's pretty quiet," Roxas said, lowering his gaze to the dog again. "Maybe you could get away with it..." They couldn't take her back to the pet store--the shop owner said the puppies were too young to sell. He wouldn't take this dog just because he fell into someone else's hands. And if they sold a puppy too young on their own, he wasn't sure what would happen. It looked like they were stuck with her for a while.

Namine watched the little puppy in silence after that, seeing her look up at Roxas before turning her head to look at Namine. The blonde's eyes instantly softened and she cooed softly, running her hand over the puppy's soft coat. "She's so cute," she whispered. How could she let someone else have this puppy? She was already in love with her.
Roxas chuckled lightly at the change in mood, shaking his head. "You don't seem opposed to keeping her," he said. Namine was already falling in love with this puppy, and he could see why that was. She was pretty cute in both appearance and mannerisms.

"Of course I would like to keep her," Namine said, the small dog licking her hand. "But if I do, I'll be evicted." She couldn't have that happening. But...would Roxas help her out? He didn't seem opposed to the dog staying here either. She would be relatively small, it seemed, but Namine would have to check. The smaller the dog, the better.
Roxas shrugged casually. "Only if you get caught." They could keep the dog hidden--it wasn't like the owner of the apartments ever came into rooms. At least things didn't work that way in his apartment complex. How hard could it be to hide the little pooch? Namine could sneak her out in her backpack to do her business and whatnot...

Namine shook her head, not knowing how this would work. The puppy would get bigger...and then what? Namine couldn't sneak her out so easily once she was too big for her bag. And that would just be ridiculous. She sighed and rose to her feet, going back to the dishes. She wasn't sure what she would do.
Roxas lifted a hand, letting the puppy sniff around at his fingers as he continued speaking to Namine. "Maybe we could convince Sora and Kairi to take her when they get back," he said. Everything with Xehanort should have been over soon, or so he hoped. That reminded him...He had to train sometime so he was ready.
  • Author
"Maybe," Namine said, closing the dishwasher as she took out the last of the dishes. There weren't many, since it had just been her for the last year or so. She put them away in silence, not knowing what else to say. Sora and Kairi were struggling with money. Could they really handle a dog?
Roxas shrugged casually, taking this better than Namine was. There wasn't much they could do, so he was taking it in stride. They'd just have to take care of her for a little while. He began to pet her with a finger, eyeing her as she did. "We should at least name her," he said. Did Namine want that job?

Namine turned around, shutting a cabinet and then leaning against a counter. She looked at the puppy, who was absolutely loving the attention Roxas was giving her. She smiled weakly. "Okay," she said with a small nod. "What are you thinking?" Did Roxas have any names in mind?
Roxas looked up at Namine, laughing softly as he shook his head. "I was hoping you'd have some idea," he said. "I'm not good with this kind of stuff." He may have been creative in music, but in naming puppies...not so much. He found it incredible he could keep the puppy happy at all--coming up with a name was pushing it.
  • Author
Namine looked at Roxas for a moment, his smile capturing her attention, but then she tore her gaze from his. Instead, she gazed at the puppy. It took a moment, but one name finally came to her. "Faye," she said softly. It was gentle and pure, just like the puppy seemed to be.
Roxas hummed in satisfaction, running his whole hand down the dog's back. "Alright," he agreed, looking down at the pleased pooch. "Faye." Namine liked the name and he did too, so he wasn't about to go against it. Besides, she seemed upset about something. Probably the situation with Faye. How did he help though?
  • Author
Namine gazed at the puppy, who she and Roxas would now call Faye. She would take care of the puppy until everything was alright again, of course, since there was no other option. She was just scared that she would grow attached. Every time that happened, somebody always left her. Namine didn't want that kind of feeling again, even with a puppy.
Roxas rose to his feet, stretching a little bit. "I'll run to the store and get some dog food," he said as he started towards his shoes. "I won't be gone long." He wasn't worried about Namine's safety in that time--in fact, he wasn't too concerned about Organization members appearing at all. They had other problems after what happened in The World That Never Was.
  • Author
Namine nodded a little, looking at Roxas again. Hopefully Roxas would find a way to sneak the food inside and through the main lobby. She couldn't afford to be evicted; on top of everything else, that would be the last straw. She couldn't handle much more.
Roxas went to the store and returned in a short while, having easily hid the dog food in the jacket he took off and had over his arm. When he returned to Namine's apartment and stepped inside after unlocking it, he was alarmed. "Namine?" he immediately checked. There she was sitting on the couch with her sketchpad...crying.
  • Author
Namine lifted her head at the call of her name, but upon seeing Roxas, she immediately began to whipe her eyes. She had tried drawing Faye, who was asleep on the couch next to her, but...she couldn't do it. She couldn't even sketch a few lines without it turning into the Organization.
"No," Roxas immediately said, shaking his head as he shut the door and approached Namine. He dropped the food and the jacket, going to the couch and standing in front of her. "Namine..." She didn't need to hide her tears from him. It was alright for her to be upset, especially if she was upset for the reason he thought she was.
  • Author
"I'm okay," Namine said, voice soft in the quiet room. She didn't look up at Roxas, instead gazing down at her sketchpad. She gripped it tightly with both hands, fighting the urge to cry. The Organization wanted this for her, didn't they? They wanted to break her so she couldn't have any influence on things, like Roxas's memories, or Sora's or Riku's... They succeeded. Roxas was the only good thing out of her since she was with the Organization; she fixed him. But now, she couldn't do anything.
Roxas shook his head again, kneeling down in front of the blonde. "No, Namine," he said gently. He set a hand on her knee tentatively, seeing everything in her posture go against what she said. "You're not." She wasn't all right. So much for him making her happy...

The words were like a trigger. Namine closed her eyes and released a small sob, a tear falling from her eyes and landing on her sketchpad. Drawing was all she knew how to do; it was all she had ever known. Now that she couldn't do it, who was she?
Roxas felt his heart breaking at Namine's sorrow, which was very clear. "...Namine..." he said softly, running his thumb over her knee automatically. He understood why she was hurting--he would have felt the same if his music was taken away. It would have been awful.
