Rude Awakening (1x1 with Peanut)

Posted

As some of you may know, Peanut and I are crazy about Roleplaying, and it's clear, since this is the second one on this site that belongs to us. And we aren't even done with the first one! Regardless, that won't stop us from starting this new roleplay, Rude Awakening!

Kinda dark and mysterious title, eh?

As stated in the title, this RP is one on one, no exceptions. Please refrain from posting in the RP. Instead, follow us on this new journey!

Peanut, my amazing friend, let's begin!

"I can't draw anything, Roxas," Namine whimpered throug her tears. She hiccuped, the breath also being taken from her at Roxas's touch. He was so...gentle with her, like he used to be. "I tried drawing Faye, but all I did was...was..." I only drew them, she wanted to say. But she couldn't. Admitting it out loud just sounded worse.
Roxas shushed Namine, lifting his free hand towards the sketchpad. Her hold on it loosened as she broke down, so he was able to slide it out of her grasp and turn it upside down on the ground so they couldn't see the the picture. He already knew what was wrong; she didn't need to say it.

"...I keep drawing them," Namine said through her sobs. "I can't draw anything else." She lifted her hands to her face, muffling her sobs as she did so. What else could she do but quit drawing? What the Organization did to her... It haunted her, and now she couldn't draw anything. She was stuck, and corrupted.
"Maybe you just need some time..." Roxas suggested quietly, continuing to run his thumb over her knee. They were just returning to Destiny Islands now and a lot had happened. He knew she wanted to draw to cope with that, but it looked like she needed another coping method for now.

Namine sniffled, wiping under her eyes again as she looked at the boy in front of her. "What else do I do?" she asked weakly. Drawing was all she knew... If she couldn't do that, she wasn't sure what she could do in its place. "If I can't draw, I'm going to fail my classes. I'll get kicked out of school."
"You'll be able to draw again someday," Roxas said quietly, setting his free hand on the dog to keep her still so that she wouldn't bother Namine. She was having a bad enough day as it was. "I know you will." Namine loved to draw--it was her passion. She couldn't lose that ability now. He refused to believe the Organization broke her completely.

"Roxas..." Namine said, gazing at him. Her eyes were gentle, but soon they turned hard. "You weren't there." He wasn't there for her. He wasn't there when she was kicked and punched and slapped. Deprived of food and water. He wasn't there through any of it, because he decided to leave her.
Roxas blinked, hearing coldness in Namine's tone. But... "You're right," he agreed softly. "I wasn't. But I am now." Let me fix this, please... She was his friend. He didn't want her suffering anymore because of what he did. He wanted to help...

Namine released a small breath, though it sounded like a sob. She pushed herself up from the couch, stepping to the side to get away from Roxas. "You weren't there," she said again, her back to her friend as she took a few steps away. "You left me..." Roxas abandoned her because of a mistake. She hadn't meant to mess up his heart, but he took it out on her like she did.
Roxas looked to the dog, who was still under his hand and not pursuing Namine for that reason. I know, he thought again, sad. But he liked to think of himself as a different person. He felt completely new, so he hated he was responsible for other actions his old self did. He hated what he did to Namine...

Tears fell from Namine's eyes as she glared at the floor. "You left me by myself," she said again, though her voice was thick with sorrow and fear. She clasped her hands together in front of her. "You left me, Roxas. You left me while they hit me a-and kicked me..." A sob left her as she shook her head. "They talked about doing awful things to me--perverse, sexual things. And you didn't even care!" He didn't think about what would happen to her if he left. Roxas just took off.
Roxas rose to his feet, startled at Namine's words and tone. "Enough," he said firmly, surprised at his own anger. But...he started over to Namine, setting his hands on her shoulders as he spoke to her in a weaker but heartwarming voice. "I care now." He obviously cared, or he wouldn't be here with her. He cared so, so much...

Namine cowered slightly at the firm order, but when she felt Roxas's hands on her shoulders, she wasn't sure what to do. She kept her back to him, crying silently. She had been so scared, and he didn't know how many times she called out to him, until one of the Organization members told her that he abandoned her. She had been...heartbroken.

"Namine," Roxas said weakly while keeping his hands where they were. "I'm so, so sorry. I don't want to fix things to redeem myself. I just want you to be okay..." If she considered him to be an enemy, then it was okay. As long as she was alright.

Namine sniffled quietly, opening her eyes to gaze at the floor. She wasn't sure what she could do to get better. Drawing wasn't an option anymore, so what else was there? All of her friends were gone, and Roxas had other friends besides her. He knew that just as well as she did.
Roxas kept his hands where they were, his grip gentle. Namine wouldn't look at him, which was understandable. "I know you're strong enough to overcome this," he said quietly, leaning forward a little to look at her face. "You're one of the strongest people I know..." He knew about Castle Oblivion, and how she fixed Sora's memories. But she was a strong person too in order to make it to where she was.

Namine turned her head slightly when she sensed movement, and that was when her eyes locked onto Roxas's. The close proximity made her hesitate for a moment, but then she lifted a hand to wipe under her eye, her gaze back on the floor. How did Roxas think she was strong? If she was really strong, she would have stood up to the Organization.
Roxas shook his head softly, seeing Namine didn't believe him. "You did what was right with Sora despite whatever Marluxia threatened," he said quietly. "I've seen you at school, too, befriending people others bully...You're so brave, Namine. Brave and strong and...incredible." She was kind to him despite how he treated her in the past. How was he worthy of being her friend?

Namine wiped at one of her cheeks, but that was when she felt the heat against her skin. "Roxas..." she said softly. He was actually making her blush. Namine was a shy person in general, so hearing compliments like this... It was different.
Roxas kept his eyes on Namine, seeing that she didn't know how to take what he said. "I know who you are," he said quietly, continuing despite seeing her expression. "And I know that you're strong enough to overcome even this." She could do it...he knew she could. "You just need to believe it..."

Namine wasn't sure what to say, other than... "Thank you," she whispered, looking over her shoulder at Roxas. She appreciated his words. Of course, he was still her friend, even after everything. But...it would be a while before she got over what happened. Nobody forgot that kind of treatment.
Roxas nodded slightly, keeping his gaze on Namine for a few moments. He slowly took his hands away, figuring that was enough. She had a right to be upset with him after what he did. He wouldn't be close if she didn't want him to be.

Namine closed her eyes when Roxas took his hands away. She was surprised to feel...empty at the loss. His hands had been so warm... "Sorry," she said, turning to face him. She shouldn't have yelled at him like she did; he was a...different person after what she revealed to him. They both had their faults.
Roxas blinked, shaking his head immediately at the look in Namine's eyes. "I'm the one who's sorry," he stated quietly. He left her behind and she got hurt because of it. He may have been different, but still. Namine didn't need to be apologizing to him for being angry.

"...Right," Namine said with a small nod, her eyes staying locked on Roxas. He was in the wrong on multiple levels, but then again, so was she. They never talked about what she did to him in the past--how she messed up his heart and tricked him into being friends with her because she was lonely. She guessed they were even on those levels.
