Rude Awakening (1x1 with Peanut)

Posted

As some of you may know, Peanut and I are crazy about Roleplaying, and it's clear, since this is the second one on this site that belongs to us. And we aren't even done with the first one! Regardless, that won't stop us from starting this new roleplay, Rude Awakening!

Kinda dark and mysterious title, eh?

As stated in the title, this RP is one on one, no exceptions. Please refrain from posting in the RP. Instead, follow us on this new journey!

Peanut, my amazing friend, let's begin!

Roxas could tell Namine wasn't thinking pleasant thoughts--it was obvious. "...You're an incredible girl, Namine," he stated softly. "You can beat this." It wouldn't be easy and it wouldn't be immediate, but someday, she would be okay again.

Namine smiled weakly, diverting her gaze. "You keep saying that," she told Roxas quietly. Roxas kept saying that she was incredible and strong... Did he really mean that, or was he just saying it to make her feel better? She somehow doubted it was the latter. He seemed true to his word.
"I'll say it as many times as it takes for you to realize it's true," Roxas said earnestly. Maybe she was feeling guilty about the past, but it was all okay, at least to him. She was just misguided and lonely--she wasn't a bad person deep inside. She made a mistake.

Namine's small smile remained, but her blush returned. She hummed softly, looking up at Roxas. "You know Sora would tease you for saying that," she pointed out softly. Sora was often one to get on Roxas or Riku if they got affectionate, though it was mostly Riku because of his relationship with Lightning. Roxas had only gotten it once or twice, when he went on dates.
Roxas smiled warmly, keeping his eyes on Namine. "Let him tease, then," he declared quietly. He wouldn't stop telling Namine the truth. She deserved to know that she wasn't a bad person for what happened in the past. In fact, she was the opposite. Incredible. He didn't need to be bewitched by a spell to see that.

Namine couldn't help but smile at that, her eyes on Roxas's. She nodded slightly, humming as well. If Roxas was set on keeping to his word and didn't mind any jokes along the way, there was nothing she could really do. He had always been set on doing his own thing. That was something she had never forgotten over the past few years.
Roxas nodded as well, his small smile remaining. He did, however, tear his eyes off Namine and look to Faye when she yapped ever so quietly. "What?" he teased in a baby voice. "You love attention, don't ya?" he walked over to the couch and poked at Faye with a finger, seeing her wag her little tail in pleasure.

Namine continued to smile at the interaction, but then she went over to where Roxas dropped the dog food. Faye was probably hungry after hanging out in Namine's bag for so long, so she would get a bowl and help the puppy out. It would distract her from thinking about Roxas, at least for a little while.

The next day

It was between training sessions the next day, and Lightning had her own program running in the training room so she could work on her own precision. Riku was busy. Master Yen Sid stopped in earlier and requested private counsel with the Masters. She hadn't seen him since then and it had been about half a day. Nevertheless, she could keep herself occupied. She stepped quickly and delicately, pleased with herself. Still got it.

Riku walked quietly to the training room, but he didn't go straight in. Instead, he went to the observing room, where there was a microphone set up so he could communicate with Lightning through that. She was in the middle of a session anyway, and he didn't want to interrupt that. But Master Yen Sid's words... They definitely disturbed what peace he thought he had. When at a good stopping point, Riku took the mike. "Light," he called softly. Was she ready for him to come train?
Lightning looked towards the window, and though she couldn't see Riku, she knew it was him. "C'mon in," she said, loud enough for him to hear but quiet all the same. He had spoken to her so softly that she didn't feel the need to raise her voice. Was something wrong?

Riku put the mike down and left the observation room, going around the corner and opening the door to the training room. He stepped in and shut the door behind him, then looking to the girl he cared so much for. If she knew about the news, he had a feeling she wouldn't like it. Her life would be...controlled forever. She wouldn't get choices, not like she had now.
Lightning noticed how Riku just stood there. That wasn't exactly a good sign. The fact that Master Yen Sid was here had her on edge all day since her last meeting with him hadn't been pleasant. But she was one of the seven--he couldn't possibly want anything more from her. So he must have wanted something from Riku and he was upset about it.

Riku caught the look Lightning was giving him, and he shrugged. "What's the plan?" he asked lowly. She had a plan for training today, or so he assumed. She always did. What would make today any different? Hopefully not Master Yen Sid's visit, because that affected Riku enough for the both of them.
"More of the basic stuff we started," Lightning said softly. "With some other tricks like flips thrown in." He knew how to do precise footsteps, but he needed to be on with flips and other things like that. That was what today's training was about.

Riku nodded, walking further into the room to where he needed to be. He knew how these exercises went by now; he stepped on the tiles with a specific color, but now there would be new things thrown in. Such as flips, like Lightning said. He was sure he could handle it.
Lightning and Riku began their training, and it didn't take Lightning long to see Riku's heart wasn't in it. She tried showing him things multiple times, but he still wasn't completing the moves. "I think we need to stop," she said after a little while. Today wasn't their day.
  • Author
Riku turned around, looking at Lightning as he stopped moving along the tiles. His expression seemed to say it all. What's wrong? Was he really doing that bad? He knew that he needed to be reminded, which was unlike him, but sometimes people just had an off today. And Riku's was definitely today.
Lightning normally would have smiled at Riku's clueless expression, but not today. She just kept her eyes on him and responded to his look. "Your heart isn't in it," she stated, approaching him. He couldn't very well perform these tasks unless he was focused.

Riku sighed, lifting a hand to run over his hair. "Right," he said softly. He guessed he wasn't into the training as much as he usually was, but that was for good reason. Master Yen Sid told the Masters something...upsetting, at least in Riku's eyes. He couldn't believe this...
Light slowed by Riku, running a hand over his arm as she walked past to the computer. She began shutting down the program. Once they spoke, maybe they could train again. But going on like this wasn't going to do them any good at all. What had Riku so off his game? He was worrying her.
  • Author
Riku closed his eyes at the touch, however small it was. How would Lightning feel about the new necessity to their war? She would be...off guard with it, he was sure, but would she accept it? The others all didn't have a choice, but she did. He was just hoping she made the right one.
Lightning finished her work and then looked to Riku. "Come on," she said, jerking her head towards the entrance and starting towards it. They would go for a walk and talk about this somewhere else, not in this room where they could be observed. Whatever this was must have been serious. She would have been even more alarmed to know Riku had been out of that meeting for hours before coming to see her.

Riku did as he was encouraged, leaving the room with Lightning and walking down the castle hall. He put his hands in his pockets, his eyes set on the path ahead. What was he supposed to say? He couldn't tell Lightning outright what they needed. That was too much pressure. She would need to make the decision for herself.
When Riku and Lightning rounded a corner, she saw another person who she was surprised to see. "Master Yen Sid," she said as she stopped. She tentatively dipped her head a little out of respect, though their last encounter hadn't been the best. He tried to guilt-trip her into joining the seven. Riku had been so incredibly furious at him for trying to recruit her...She'd never forget that anger.
