Rude Awakening (1x1 with Peanut)

Posted

As some of you may know, Peanut and I are crazy about Roleplaying, and it's clear, since this is the second one on this site that belongs to us. And we aren't even done with the first one! Regardless, that won't stop us from starting this new roleplay, Rude Awakening!

Kinda dark and mysterious title, eh?

As stated in the title, this RP is one on one, no exceptions. Please refrain from posting in the RP. Instead, follow us on this new journey!

Peanut, my amazing friend, let's begin!

"Lightning," the girl said, saying her name. But she had already known his. He was a classmate and popular at school. Outgoing, blond-haired and blue eyed--the dream of all the girls there. Oh, and being tall and muscular helped his case as well. But it made no difference to Lightning. She wasn't looking for a boy. She glanced down at her gloves and began to take them off while Snow got the equipment.

Snow smirked as his back was to Lightning. She was nearly as striking as her name. He grabbed the Struggle bats and turned back to join her, the space around them open for the two of them to battle. He was curious as to what Lightning could do; she seemed tough.
Lightning outstretched a hand to catch the Struggle bat once her gloves were off and where they belonged. She thought she saw the traces of a smile on Snow's face, but her expression was serious as always. This was going to be a tough fight; he definitely had size on his side.

Once Lightning had a hold on her bat, Snow twirled his in his hand, showing off as usual. "Don't hold back now," he encouraged. He was a tough guy; he could take a few hits. He stood in place, his bat out at his side as he prepared for Lightning to close in.
Lightning started walking around the circular area they were in, sword down by her side and an arm in front of her stomach as she kept her eyes on Snow. She was just pacing for now, but studying him as well. Size, height, and weight were three huge advantages. But hopefully his size would make him clumsy so that she could get close and disarm him. As she thought these things, she realized the gym got quieter. After seeing Lightning wrestle Riku before, the others wanted to see her fight with the bat.

Riku lifted his head when everything was silent in the gym, his eyebrows furrowing as he looked around. What was everyone doing? He opened his mouth to speak, but that was when he saw the two who were the center of attention: Lightning and Snow. Riku was suddenly intrigued, locating the Struggle bats in each of their grasps.

Looks like I have to make the first move, Lightning thought. She stopped pacing around the circle. So be it. She closed the short distance between them, swinging her bat and fully expecting to meet Snow's. She needed to get a feel for how he fought if she was going to win this. Even if she was inexperienced in fighting, she knew strategy because she was very logical.

Riku stood upright when Lightning made the first move, seeing Snow block the swing and make one of his own at the girl's side. The nineteen year old moved around the counter and observed from a distance, interested. Clearly Snow wasn't like him; he would fight a girl.
Lightning jumped to the side, swinging her bat at Snow's torso. So, he was going to try and knock her off balance and then disarm her. Good thing she was quick enough to evade attacks like that one. As long as she was light on her feet, she had a chance at beating him.

Snow hissed at the pain that enveloped his stomach, and he brought a hand to it as he jumped away. He ground his teeth, seeing that Lightning really wasn't holding back. Good, he needed competition. "Nice shot," he said, recovering quickly as he lowered his hand to his side. He was taller and heavier, with more brawn. Of course she would move faster than him.
Lightning nodded ever so slightly at the compliment. But she wasn't about to let Snow get the upper hand. While his hand was still going down to his side, she jabbed her sword forward and caught underneath his right arm, putting both hands on the hilt as she pushed it upward in hopes that his grip was loose on the bat. Maybe she could end this quickly.

Snow felt his arm going up, but that was when he allowed himself to drop to the ground. He landed on his side and then swept his feet out, aiming for Lightning's legs. His sword hit the floor a few feet away, but he would be able to grab it quickly once she hit the floor.
Lightning grunted when she fell down onto her side, though she wasn't down for long. She ignored her throbbing legs and rose again, balanced enough but not well enough to go right for Snow. She kept her grip on her blade tight, studying him. He was more agile than she had originally expected.

Snow rolled to the side, picking up his bat at the same time. He rose to his feet smoothly and got back into his stance, smirking proudly. "You know, I'd be glad to teach you that move," he said. "But only if you agree to go on a date with me."

Riku lifted an eyebrow, his arms crossed over his chest as he stood behind the crowd gather around Lightning and Snow. Was he really hitting on Lightning? Not gonna fly, Snow.

Lightning only blinked at the words. Seriously? He thought he could woo her? Well he was wrong. "Not interested," she said. She quickly closed the distance once again, swinging the bat at him. She didn't want to date somebody at all, and especially not him. He seemed cocky if he dared to ask her out like this.

Snow met Lightning's bat with his own, and he looked down at her with the same smirk. "Oh, c'mon. Don't be intimidated!" he pushed her off him with his strength. "I don't bite!" He then closed the distance, swinging his Struggle bat in a backhanded strike.
Lightning managed to deflect that attack as well. She couldn't see Riku from where she was standing; she didn't even know that he was watching this. Yet he popped up in the back of her mind. She furrowed her eyebrows and let her actions be her response. She initiated another attack, and then another, and then another. The match was getting more heated by the minute, and even though it continued onward, she felt like she could still win this. She just needed an opportunity to hit his wrist again.

Riku watched the fight with focused eyes, studying both Lightning and Snow. They both occasionally got hit by the other's bat, but it was a pretty even match. Snow's size and build made up for his speed, while Lightning's agility made up for her weaker hits. Two polar opposites were going against each other, which made this even more interesting. But....Riku felt something strike a nerve, and after a few seconds of thinking about it, he realized what it was. Jealousy. But I'm never... I never get... Riku's eyebrows furrowed as the fight continued, Snow's flirtatious nature aggravating him. But...why?

Lightning eventually saw an opportunity to end this. Unlike Snow, she was only utilizing her bat, not kicking him like he had kicked her. This was supposed to be a fight with only the bats. Hopefully she could end it now with this move. She stepped close and jabbed her bat at his wrist, knowing that if she disarmed him now, he'd be too tired to go for the bat quickly enough to get past her.

Snow saw Lightning coming for him, but his grip was tight on the bat, something she probably didn't predict. He winced at the pain in his wrist, but he got past it, instead swinging. And right for Lightning's head.
Lightning saw the bat coming too late. This was supposed to be more like sparring; head shots weren't allowed if they were playing by Struggle rules! She grunted roughly when the bat hit her with Snow's full force behind it. For only a second, she blacked out. Or did she actually lose consciousness in that one second? Because one moment the bat hit her head, and the next she realized she was almost to the ground. At the last moment, she put out an arm to stop herself from lying on her side on the ground. That had hurt. A lot.

Riku blinked, grunting in surprise. He heard the sound of the bat making contact with Lightning's head, and once she hit the ground, he moved. "That's enough," he ordered firmly, pushing his way through the recruits. A few backed away at the sound of his voice, and he knelt down on the ground next to Lightning. "Stay down. Don't move," he told her, his voice more gentle with her, though aggravation was still present. But was that the jealousy? Or anger?
Lightning glanced over at Riku, who was blurry for a few moments. The double images came together after a second, though her head was still pounding furiously. "I'm fine," she said through her teeth. No need to baby her. But what was Snow thinking?! She thought they were going to do this by the rules of Struggle.

Riku ignored Lightning's words, knowing that he wasn't going to take any risks. "Snow, you know the Struggle rules," he said lowly, looking over to the boy, who seemed panicked. "What were you thinking aiming for her head?" Not only had Snow been flirting with Lightning, but he hit her in the head and knocked her down. Two strikes.

"I...I'm sorry!" Snow tried. "I just swung. I didn't..." I didn't think about it. He just swung his bat and hoped to land a hit. Clearly that was a mistake.

Lightning shut her eyes to hopefully make the pounding dull. The bright lights and loud noises didn't help. But she didn't think she was suffering from anything but a hit to the head. She always did hear that she was thick-headed, so she doubted that anything was wrong. Except...she did feel a little nauseousness.
