Rude Awakening (1x1 with Peanut)

Posted

As some of you may know, Peanut and I are crazy about Roleplaying, and it's clear, since this is the second one on this site that belongs to us. And we aren't even done with the first one! Regardless, that won't stop us from starting this new roleplay, Rude Awakening!

Kinda dark and mysterious title, eh?

As stated in the title, this RP is one on one, no exceptions. Please refrain from posting in the RP. Instead, follow us on this new journey!

Peanut, my amazing friend, let's begin!

Master Yen Sid watched both fighters dive for their weapons and then fight again. "We can only have one more Keyblade wielder," he said calmly, revealing his thoughts because he thought it was best. "If Seifer wins, we'll have a problem." Of course he sensed Lightning's power--it was obvious to him as a Master. But her power wasn't the same as strength. If she was weaker than Seifer, he would get a Keyblade and Lightning...he'd have to decide on.

A problem, Riku repeated in his head. That didn't sound entirely convincing, at least as good news. Which meant Lightning had to win. If she didn't, well... Master Yen Sid's indirect answers weren't comforting. It made Riku tense up.
Lightning grunted, feeling the tip of Seifer's gunblade cut a small scratch on her cheek. She jumped backwards to avoid the fullest extent of the swing, also sending an ice spell his way to slow him down. He was a cocky fighter and used a lot of dirty moves. Why wasn't Master Yen Sid calling the fight? Why would he want somebody like Seifer on this side? He didn't seem like a team player at all... Am I really that bad a fighter that Master Yen Sid is willing to replace me with this jerk?

Kairi lifted a hand and grabbed Riku's wrist as the dirty fight continued, her nerves getting the best of her. He didn't react, but she could sense his tense posture. He was nervous too, and Riku never got nervous. When would Master Yen Sid stop the fight? Would somebody have to be down on the ground and unable to fight back, or would this be...a fight to the death? No. No, it can't be. Master Yen Sid wouldn't do that....
Roxas ran up after a few more minutes, having been directed here by Sora while he was training with Ven in the field. He had gone to the field first because that was where he expected Seifer, but he had been wrong. At least he was in the right place now. "Guys," he panted, stopping by Riku, Kairi, and Master Yen Sid as he glanced into the training room nervously. Sure enough...There was Seifer fighting Lightning. But why were they even allowing this to happen? How couldn't they tell Seifer was bad?!

Riku turned his head sharply, hearing Kairi gasp Roxas's name. "What're you doing here?" he asked in confusion. He was supposed to be training on the Islands, and protecting Namine. Did he desert her again?!
"Is that Seifer in there?" Roxas asked, ignoring the obvious questions of why he was on that world and why he was short of breath. "He showed up on the Islands today and taunted me and Namine. He said he was going to try to become one of us, to sabotage us..." He looked up at Riku, eyebrows furrowed in seriousness. "He's one of the Thirteen." He was one of Xehanort's fighters.

Riku grunted at the words, his head turning sharply to see Seifer still attacking Lightning. Riku tore his wrist from Kairi's grasp. "This fight's over," he said, then hurrying out of the room. Master Yen Sid would have to strike him down to stop him from interfering. Riku wasn't about to let Lightning get herself killed. This was a set-up, and Riku wasn't about to let it slide.
Unaware of what was happening right outside the room, Lightning blocked Seifer's attack with her gunblade. It was a rough attack, one that made her stumble back a step. While that occurred, Seifer got his sword beneath hers and swung it upwards so harshly that Lightning lost her grip. Her wide eyes saw the weapon drop several feet to the side, her heart beginning to pound. Seifer just won; she couldn't get to her weapon because he had her cornered in a sense. So...what was going to happen now?

Seifer laughed. "Pretty little thing," he commented, a smirk on his lips. "Too bad that's all you have going for you. Say hello to your mother for me." He then swung his gunblade at her, but his attack was parried. He grunted, blinking when he saw the Master in his way. "Out of the way!"

"In your dreams," Riku replied, pressing back on Seifer's blade with his own. He was stronger, and that seemed to be enough. He pushed on Seifer's gunblade and kicked him in the chest, sending him away from both Riku and Lightning. It was then that Kairi came in, sending a powerful Light spell at Seifer to paralyze him. His cry of pain echoed through the room, but Riku only stayed in front of Lightning. Her guardian, as he promised.

Lightning's eyes were wide, for multiple reasons. They first became that size when she lost her weapon, but they remained that way when Seifer mentioned something she hadn't been expecting. Her mother. That had caught her so off guard she hadn't even lifted her arms to defend herself. Thank goodness Riku stepped in, though she wasn't sure how he had such impeccable timing. The surprise of seeing him in front of her and being saved by him was the third reason her eyes were larger than usual.

Kairi kept the Light spell going, her Keyblade pointed at Seifer as he continued to cry out in pain. She looked over at Riku in the meantime, who was still standing in front of Lightning. She caught the look he gave her, and she released the spell. She weakened Seifer, but killing him wasn't a mission today; he was one of the Thirteen. That meant that they had to wait for the final battle. Seifer cursed at her in an ugly manner, calling her an awful name or two before Riku zapped him with lightning to silence him.

"Shut up!" Riku ordered, keeping his place in front of Lightning. He would until Seifer calmed down, or left the world. He wouldn't let Seifer out of his sight, not after he tried to kill Lightning.

Roxas walked into the room, seeing Seifer lying on the ground. He wasn't even amused to see Seifer in pain. He was just ticked off that he was still alive after all the hurt that he caused, both with Namine and with Lightning now. He couldn't see the latter with Riku in the way, but he could definitely see Seifer on the ground. He wanted to end him more than anything...but he couldn't. Not today.

"I suggest you leave, Seifer," Kairi said softly, though her voice was strict. He shouldn't have taken her suggestion lightly. "Now." Before the others got here and decided what to do with him. She saw him look at all the people in the room, fury in his eyes.

"You'll get yours!" Seifer called, stumbling to his feet. A portal was summoned behind him, and he backed toward it. "All of you. You just wait!" He then disappeared into the portal, leaving the Keyblade wielders behind.

Roxas frowned in disgust, angry that he had to let Seifer go. But he'd save that anger for the day they met again and could fight for real. Right now, they were all pawns in Xehanort's game. Thirteen against seven...That was how it had to be. They couldn't go killing each other off out of pure spite.

Riku called a Cure spell to Lightning to heal any of her injuries, then allowing his Keyblade to disappear. He turned to face her, seeing the cut on her cheek heal up. He lifted a hand to wipe away the blood. "You okay?" he asked softly, his other hand resting on her shoulder. She was about to be killed... How could Master Yen Sid let that happen?
Lightning looked up at Riku, her eyes showing that she was a bit confused and dazed. What was the deal with Seifer? Why was Roxas here? How did he know about her mother...? But to Riku's question, she hummed faintly. She was okay. Thanks to him.

Riku wiped the rest of the blood away, catching Lightning's response. He then turned his head, looking over at the blond in the room. "Thanks, Roxas," he said, his tone showing his gratitude. If Roxas hadn't come in when he did, Lightning would have died and Seifer would've gotten what he wanted: the Keyblade, and access to the group's internal structure.
"Sure," Roxas said with a small nod, eyes serious. But he took a small step back, knowing that his work here was done. "I'm gonna go back to the Islands. Namine's alone..." He didn't like that he had to leave her even for a short while, so he wasn't going to make that time apart any longer. He'd return and make sure she was okay.

Kairi looked to her good friend, smiling slightly. "Right," she said with a nod. "Get home safely." The fact that he was protective of Namine was touching; he was keeping his promise and trying his hand at redemption. But...something told Kairi it was more than that.
Lightning looked past Riku and saw Roxas leave, though she noticed Master Yen Sid had stepped into the room at some point. She tensed because of it, practically able to see the disappointment in his eyes even if there was a good distance between them. What, was he disappointed Seifer was a phony that couldn't replace her or something like that? He only liked Lightning when it benefited him.

Riku turned, following Lightning's gaze to Master Yen Sid. He put an arm around Lightning to keep her close, though he silently glared at the Master in the room. Didn't he sense how much Darkness radiated from Seifer? Riku knew that Kairi could, but she hadn't said anything. She wasn't sure how to act in front of Master Yen Sid. While Riku was respectful, he said what he thought. And right now, he was thinking many things about Master Yen Sid's judgement.

Master Yen Sid saw Riku's fury and met it with his normal calm composure. "Ill-tempered or not," he started. "We needed to explore the possibility. Our seven need to be as strong as possible." He looked to Lightning at the mention, seeing how close Riku held her to him. How could Riku keep forgetting what Master Yen Sid kept telling him? The more he coddled Lightning, the weaker she was going to be.

"We're working on it," Riku practically growled. "Her Keyblade will come when the time is right." Master Yen Sid knew that. So why was he giving Lightning so much grief? What did Master Yen Sid want? He was the one who told Lightning to become a part of the Seven anyway. It was too late for him to change his mind.

"It's not the Keyblade I'm worried about," Master Yen Sid confessed, looking back to Riku as he spoke to him. "She has power but strength is another matter." She wasn't a warrior yet. The potential that he saw in her at the beginning seemed dimmed now that Riku was coddling her. Perhaps he made a mistake in his haste to complete their forces.
