Rude Awakening (1x1 with Peanut)

Posted

As some of you may know, Peanut and I are crazy about Roleplaying, and it's clear, since this is the second one on this site that belongs to us. And we aren't even done with the first one! Regardless, that won't stop us from starting this new roleplay, Rude Awakening!

Kinda dark and mysterious title, eh?

As stated in the title, this RP is one on one, no exceptions. Please refrain from posting in the RP. Instead, follow us on this new journey!

Peanut, my amazing friend, let's begin!

Roxas gasped when he felt the gunblade slice across his chest, a cry of pain leaving him at the pain. He stumbled backwards, having to lift a hand to his chest to try and stop the blood-flow immediately. Why didn't he just stab Seifer while his back was to him?! Why wasn't he good for battle like he used to be?

"So lame," Seifer said with a shake of his head. "I knew you were too weak. You would have never been ready for the final battle, Roxas. Not with the way you're taking care of Namine. Worrying about her, fearing her safety, fearing her sanity. And now you're sleeping on her floor. Pathetic."

Namine forced herself to sit up. "Stop it," she hissed. She couldn't listen to Seifer degrade Roxas like that. Roxas was being a great friend, and her protector even if she didn't ask him to be. While Namine did feel guilty about him not training, she couldn't control his every thought and move, not like before. He had free will. She would never rob him of that, so why was Seifer making it seem that way?

"Can it, witch," Seifer snapped, glancing over his shoulder at her before starting toward Roxas. "I'm gonna finish this waste of space and take you where you belong--with me. I already ruined your friends' lives, that pathetic Riku and Cedric's stupid excuse for a daughter. I don't mind ruining yours."

"Stop!" Namine cried again, eyes widening. Riku and Lightning were hurt? No, it couldn't be! And Roxas... He wasn't going to die, not because of her! Even if she protested, Seifer still lifted his gunblade to deal the final blow, and just as he moved to do so, fear took over. "I said stop!" Namine shrieked, closing her eyes tightly. Not Roxas! Seifer wouldn't kill Roxas!

From his spot on the floor, Roxas heard Namine's crying. I can't give up...I can't... He opened his eyes, weakly glaring up at Seifer as he held a hand to his chest. Even so, the blood kept coming. If he moved his hand, it'd be over in seconds. But if  he didn't move, Seifer was going to have a very clear shot. It was hopeless.

Namine kept her eyes shut, anticipating a horrible cry of agony from Roxas...but she didn't hear it. Instead, there was a heavy thud just in front of her. She opened her eyes once a silence set in, and that was when she saw Seifer crumpled on the ground, beginning to fade away. Namine felt power coursing through her veins alongside the adrenaline and fear...and that power was too familiar. Riku's Replica flashed in her mind before she grasped what happened. I did this...she thought in fear, wide eyes locked on Seifer's fading form. I...crushed his heart.

Roxas blinked in surprise when Seifer's form crashed down right in front of him. He definitely  hadn't done that, and he hadn't done enough damage that Seifer would suddenly fade away. He looked down the hall to Namine just to make sure she was okay, but her expression showed clarity that his didn't. "...Namine...?" he called weakly. What happened?

The pain from the broken glass that dug into Namine's body was forgotten. Roxas's voice echoed in her ears. All she could do was watch Seifer finally disappear, eyes wide with terror. She killed him. She broke him just like she did Riku's Replica, by accident but by pure instinct to protect those she cared for. To protect Roxas. Namine lifted her eyes to his, those eyes normally warm and inviting, sincere and comforting. But not this time. She shook her head, scooting back against the glass around her on the floor.

Roxas tried to stand up, but he immediately realized what a mistake that was. He gasped in pain, squeezing his eyes shut. The immediate danger was gone; he had the time to heal himself thanks to whatever just happened. His hand on his chest briefly shone green before his entire torso did the same. The gash closed like nothing happened, and at that moment, he was at least thankful that his magic was still effective, unlike his combat skills.

Namine looked from Roxas to the spot where Seifer once rested. She couldn't believe this... The last time she did something so awful, it was to protect Sora from someone who was out of control. She guessed Seifer was the same way towards Roxas. But still...it horrified her that she had the ability to still do that. She crushed his heart. Like it was nothing.

Roxas rose, unsteady at first but also uncaring. He walked over to Namine, kneeling down in front of her. "What?" he asked gently, as if he hadn't been angry in battle just a minute ago. "Why are you looking like that?" He didn't know what happened; he never saw this before. But Namine looked so spooked that he felt the same.

Namine blinked, looking from the floor to Roxas. Wasn't he scared of her, after seeing what she'd done? Sora had been furious with her, but only for a moment. Didn't Roxas feel some sort of negative emotion towards her after witnessing what just happened? "...I killed him," Namine admitted hoarsely, eyes glassy. She actually killed someone. She was a murderer.

"What're you talking about?" Roxas asked, surprised at the confession. First of all, what had she done? She hadn't attacked Seifer in any way; he would have seen it. His eyes were on Seifer till the very moment he collapsed and Namine wasn't there. How could she have killed him?

Namine gazed at Roxas for a moment, unable to believe that he didn't know what she did. Didn't Sora ever tell him? Did Sora even remember? "...I crushed his heart, Roxas," she said weakly. She crushed Seifer's heart with her powers, however it was possible with someone like him. And now he was dead.

Namine used her sorcery, Roxas realized. Well that was unexpected... "Okay Nam," he said quietly. "Let's get off this floor and go to the living room, okay?" They didn't need to sit in this hallway where it happened, and Namine didn't need to sit on the glass. It wasn't healthy for her to stay here.

Even in her state, the nickname Roxas gave Namine confused her. Regardless, she started to rise to her feet, though it hurt when she put a foot flat on the ground; she cut it on glass, as well as a few other parts of her body. Her hands trembled at the realization of what she'd done to Seifer, that she murdered someone, but she had to at least get to the couch.

Roxas led Namine to the couch, putting his hands on her shoulders lightly to guide her. She was obviously shaken up. She would have been shaken up whether he won the fight or not, but now she had a greater burden on her plate. And it was all because Roxas was weak... He gently sat her down, kneeling in front of her. "I still have some magic left," he told her gently, closing his eyes as he focused on a healing spell. Those cuts would go away in just a moment.

Namine only gazed at Roxas, examining his features. Despite having just fought a battle, he was still the genuine person she'd come to know. He was calm and collected, comforting when the time called for it. Just like in the past. She looked down when bits of glass left her body, the wounds healing just like Roxas promised.

Roxas opened his eyes, looking over Namine once just to make sure his spell did the trick. But now what? He knew how to heal physical wounds, but emotional ones were harder. He looked behind Namine and noticed a blanket draped over the couch, so he gently grabbed it. "Here," he said, gently placing it over her lap. She was shaking so aside from being afraid, maybe she was cold.

Namine closed her eyes at the gesture. "Roxas," she started softly, opening her eyes to look at him. "You don't have to be so nice to me." He could think she was a monster, or horrible, or whatever. She deserved it. Seifer may have deserved to die, but having his heart crushed... It was awful.

Roxas looked at Namine in surprise. "What do you mean?" he asked, taking his hands away from the blanket. Why shouldn't he be nice to her? She was his friend, after all--someone he really cared about. Maybe it was because of the connection to their Somebodies, but whenever Namine hurt, he wanted to help her, just like Sora would want with Kairi. But he also knew it was more than that.

Namine lowered her gaze to the blanket, her fingers curling into the fabric. "I mean, if you want to leave, it's okay," she said softly. "If you're freaked out, I'll understand. It's not every day that you see someone's heart get crushed by a witch." By her, of all people, The shy one, the quiet one, the weird one if someone added her power to the equation. Roxas could leave if he wanted. Namine would understand, but she would also be hurt. She never liked it when Roxas left.

Roxas's eyes softened in sadness. "Namine," he said quietly, instinctively reaching and setting a hand on one of hers. "I don't want to leave. I'm not freaked out." So what if she had powers like that? It wasn't like she went around using them and flaunting them. He knew Namine as Namine, not as a witch.

Namine lifted her eyes to meet Roxas's. "...You're not?" she asked quietly. His touch was enough to send her heart skipping, but to hear him say that he wasn't afraid of her, that he wouldn't leave... It was a relief, in a sense. Namine's biggest weakness was being alone. She hated it.

"Of course not," Roxas assured her quietly. "You're Namine. You're my friend." That was all that mattered to him, now or any day. Namine was a witch by her own definition--and the words of others too, but Roxas would never call her that. That wasn't who she was.

Namine smiled weakly, lowering her gaze to Roxas's larger hand atop her smaller one. "...Thank you," she said. She appreciated him saying that, even when he didn't have to. This was the real Roxas, not the Roxas she created when she screwed up, or the one she made like her because she was alone. This was his true form, and his true heart.

Roxas smiled weakly and nodded, noting the relief on Namine's face. But there was something still getting to him--something that made his smile fade. "He said...that he got to Riku and Lightning," he recalled quietly. Was it a bluff? Some more words to get him ticked off?
