Rude Awakening (1x1 with Peanut)

Posted

As some of you may know, Peanut and I are crazy about Roleplaying, and it's clear, since this is the second one on this site that belongs to us. And we aren't even done with the first one! Regardless, that won't stop us from starting this new roleplay, Rude Awakening!

Kinda dark and mysterious title, eh?

As stated in the title, this RP is one on one, no exceptions. Please refrain from posting in the RP. Instead, follow us on this new journey!

Peanut, my amazing friend, let's begin!

Namine's smile vanished at the reminder. "...He said he ruined their lives," she repeated, eyebrows furrowing. She didn't understand. What did that mean? What could Seifer have had on Riku and Lightning, of all people?

Roxas frowned, feeling the phone in his jean pocket. "I think...I'll give Riku a call," he said as he slowly rose to his feet. Riku may not have wanted to hear from him after Roxas ticked off Lightning, but he would have to deal. He was calling because he was worried.

Namine nodded slightly, glancing up at Roxas before she got more comfortable on the couch. She would let Roxas do what he had to. She would at least try to get cozy enough to relax; sleep wasn't coming to her tonight.

Roxas walked across the room, staying within Namine's sight purposely so that she would know she wasn't alone. As soon as Riku answered the phone, Roxas threw a question at him. "Hey. Are you and Lightning okay?" he asked, mostly relieved just to hear Riku's voice. He didn't sound happy, but at least he was alive and answering the phone.

"...As okay as we can be right now, I guess," Riku answered, more than confused. "Why?" There was suspicion in his voice, naturally. Roxas sounded a bit relieved, but mostly panicked. What was going on?

Roxas lowered his voice, looking away from Namine briefly. "Seifer showed up at Namine's tonight," he said quietly. "I was here and all but...Anyway, he said something about you guys. I wanted to make sure you were good."

Riku blinked. "Seifer?" he repeated in shock. What was he doing around Roxas and Namine? And...why did he mention him and Lightning? Riku frowned when he made a quick connection. "...Is he gone?" If he was, Riku needed to check in on something.

"Yeah, he's...gone," Roxas said cautiously, briefly glancing at Namine. He didn't want to say "dead" or "killed" because he didn't want to set her off somehow. He really didn't know how to help her at all and he didn't want to make any stupid mistakes by saying something idiotic.

Namine felt Roxas's gaze on her, and heard the hesitance in his voice. She looked over in time to meet his eyes, but then she quickly looked away. When he said gone, he meant dead. Dead because of her.

"Okay," Riku said, taking the hint from Roxas's tone of voice that Seifer was eliminated. "Did he leave anything behind?" If Seifer was the one who was working with Jihl, Riku could keep the authorities away.

"Did he leave anything behind?" Roxas blinked. He had no clue what that even meant...What would he have left behind in the first place? He glanced at Namine before he started to the hallway, seeing something lying there. "Actually...yeah. There's a cd here. What is it?"

"Don't lose that disc," Riku said immediately, glancing to his bedroom door. Lightning was out cold. She would have no idea he was gone. "I'm on my way over." He needed that disc, and he needed to see what was on it.

"Okay..." Roxas said, sticking the cd case in his back pocket. "But what is it?" he asked again. Riku was being secretive as always--something that always annoyed Roxas. He didn't give him any answers last time he saw him, so maybe he would be more talkative now.

"Something that could help Lightning," Riku said, grabbing his shoes and throwing them on. "I'll explain when I get there. See you soon." Riku lowered his phone from his shoulder and ended the call, returning to his room and checking on Lightning one more time. Still asleep. He stepped away quietly and left the apartment, Namine's apartment his newest destination.

Roxas looked down at the phone, unable to stop Riku from hanging up. He sighed and returned to the living room, shaking his head in disbelief. "He's as cryptic as ever," he said to the girl on the couch. "I wish he could just be clear for once..." The whole "mysterious" thing may have been attractive to girls, but to him, it was just annoying.

Namine found the words amusing, and she smiled faintly. "...That's Riku for you," she said, glancing up at Roxas. "He'll never change." Or maybe he would, at least in letting others in. Lightning reached him in ways that Sora and Kairi only could, but she went even deeper than that. It was strange what love could do to people.

"Yeah, guess so," Roxas agreed. He pulled the disc out of his back pocket before he sat down on the couch next to Namine. "Anyway, he said he's coming over. As soon as he found out Seifer left something behind, he insisted on it. Weird,  right?" But then again, nothing about this situation was normal.

Namine shrugged a little. "Seifer did say he did something to ruin their lives, right? Maybe that has something to do with it," she figured, motioning to the disc. How it involved the couple was beyond Namine, but as soon as Riku showed up, she and Roxas would find out the truth.

"He said something about it helping Lightning," Roxas recalled aloud, "so that makes sense." He was growing exceedingly curious about what was on the disc, but Riku would be ticked if he watched it before he got there, so it was best just to wait it out. He was guessing Riku was hurrying over on his glider anyway, so he'd be there soon.

Namine wasn't sure how to respond to that, but that was when she heard a knock on her door. A part of her was frightened by the sudden noise, but she relaxed and made to move off the couch. "That was quick," she murmured. Riku must have been really worried about that disc.

"Wow..." Roxas said in awe. He never thought Riku would appear that quickly. He got up off the couch to get the door, seeing the silver-haired teen right there. "Didn't trust me with the disc for five minutes, huh?" he joked, holding it up for him to see. What was on here that was so important?

Riku didn't smile even the slightest bit at the joke, snatching the disc from Roxas's hand and stepping past him to enter the apartment. Once he was a few feet in, he noticed Namine by the couch. Her appearance slowed him, and the state of her apartment had him stopping in his tracks. "...What happened?" he asked, forgetting the disc for a moment. Seifer was here, obviously. What'd he do?

Namine glanced briefly at the hallway Riku had seen, but then she clasped her hands. It was a long story, and one she didn't really want to tell. She would let Roxas do that, if he found it fitting. Instead, Namine returned to her spot on the couch, drawing her knees close to her chest and covering herself with the blanket. She would let the boys talk.

Roxas briefly glanced at Namine, but then he looked to Riku as he shook his head. "Tell you later." Not in front of Namine. He hoped that was conveyed in his expression, and he hoped Riku took the hint not to ask more questions. He didn't want to see Namine upset again. She was okay for now since they were distracted by Riku and Lightning, but once she started thinking about Seifer again--Roxas didn't want to picture Namine that way again.

Riku nodded faintly to Roxas before rounding the couch near Namine. As he passed her, he lightly placed a hand on her blonde hair. She must have gone through hell, Roxas too. He hated it had to come to this, for whatever reason; Seifer must have had a score to settle with the blondes. Regardless, Riku approached the television and placed the disc in the DVD player. It was time he found out what exactly Seifer was carrying around, though he had an idea.

Roxas sat down next to Namine, though he was uneasy. How was she going to react to whatever was on the disc? What was going to pop up on that screen, anyway? "...You don't need to see this, you know," he said quietly. If she wanted to step out, he would join her...if she wanted him to.

Namine looked from Riku to Roxas as the former turned the television on. Roxas was right, she didn't have to watch this, and she didn't need to; it didn't concern her. She opened her mouth to speak, but that was when the video began. Her light blue eyes darted to the screen as Riku took a seat on the recliner near her. All that appeared on the screen was a shot of a destroyed, bloody kitchen. Glancing over at Riku, Namine saw him shift uncomfortably. But...why? That was when Seifer appeared, and Namine found herself stiffening immediately.

"You're kidding, right?" Seifer said, smirking with pride. "You seriously thought that I'd walk around with evidence against Cedric? You're such idiots. The video's already gone, Keyblade Loser. Turned it into the authorities just before visiting Blondie and the little witch. Good luck saving Lightning now."
