Rude Awakening (1x1 with Peanut)

Posted

As some of you may know, Peanut and I are crazy about Roleplaying, and it's clear, since this is the second one on this site that belongs to us. And we aren't even done with the first one! Regardless, that won't stop us from starting this new roleplay, Rude Awakening!

Kinda dark and mysterious title, eh?

As stated in the title, this RP is one on one, no exceptions. Please refrain from posting in the RP. Instead, follow us on this new journey!

Peanut, my amazing friend, let's begin!

Roxas looked at Namine, momentarily catching a difference in how she looked at him. But mainly, he studied her to see how she looked. He really hadn't seen her much except for meals. But now she looked different--like she was coping better. "What's up?" he asked then, though there was no impatience in his voice.

Namine twined her fingers as she took a few steps forward, glancing down at the floor. "Um..." she began softly, then looking up at Roxas. "...Kairi showed me the art room." Roxas put it together for Namine, which was both unexpected and unnecessary. Namine was okay... Not great, but she was coping well enough to get by.

Roxas looked to the floor then. He expected Kairi would take Namine to the art room by now, so that wasn't a huge surprise. What was a surprise was that Namine came here to talk to him about it. Was it not a good move? Did it hurt her? "Oh, uh, yeah," he murmured. "I thought maybe..." Maybe it'd help you.

Namine smiled faintly, not expecting Roxas to be so...nervous. She closed the distance between them with a small step forward and wrapped her arms around him, not minding that he was sweaty from his training. All she wanted was to show her appreciation. Roxas had to have spent a lot of time on that room; it was full of all kinds of things. He didn't have to, but he did...and that was heartwarming.

Roxas blinked in surprise, looking down at the girl who wrapped her arms around him. He was first surprised that she hugged him, then he was surprised when she hugged him when he was sweaty. He dared to lift a hand, setting it on the back of Namine's blonde head. Her hair is soft...

Namine's heart rate sped up at Roxas's gesture, but she kept her chin on his shoulder, closing her eyes. "...Thank you," she said softly. After all she'd done to him in the past, all the wrong she did, he was a good friend. Even better, she didn't make him that way; he was her friend willingly, and that meant more than he knew.

"Oh, uh, sure," Roxas said with a slight nod. He lifted his other hand, wrapping it lightly around her back. Again, his heart soared just because he had the privilege of holding her in his arms. He thought maybe she wouldn't want to be near him after he failed her, but he was wrong. Strangely, he was okay with being wrong this time.

Namine smiled a little more, but after a moment, that smile faded as she relaxed in Roxas's arms. The last time she had been like this... It was when he escorted her out of The Castle That Never Was when he came to rescue her, after deserting her. That Roxas was gone, and this Roxas was great. She really liked him, a lot more than she thought was possible at this point.

Roxas held onto Namine, glad to have a reason to. After all, she initiated the hug, so she'd pull away when she wanted to. The fact that she didn't yet... "I'm glad you like it," he said quietly. "But what're you doing here? I figured you'd already be sucked into a huge project." There was plenty up there for her to work with.

Namine opened her eyes at the words, pulling back and slowly allowing her hands to leave Roxas's back. "That's the thing..." she began with a faint smile, her cheeks burning with sudden embarrassment. "...I wanted you to come with me." Being alone was her biggest weakness, but it wasn't that this time. Namine wanted Roxas to experience the art room along with her, since he went through so much trouble making it. She didn't think anyone else belonged there but the two of them.

Roxas took on the habit of Sora for a moment, lifting a hand and pointing a finger at his chest. "Me?" he repeated quietly, taking in the implications of that. He instructed Kairi to stay with Namine in the art room so she wasn't alone (not that he had room to order Kairi around, but still), so it wasn't that she was lonely. She wanted him.

Namine giggled softly at Roxas's face, nodding. "Yes. You," she confirmed. She wanted him to join her in the art room. And who knew? Maybe she could show him how to sketch something, or paint. While his music was great, she wouldn't mind teaching him another side of the arts.

Roxas lowered his hand, still taking everything in. "What about Kairi?" he asked then. "I told her to stay with you. N-not that I ordered her around, because you know Kairi won't take that from me." Or anyone. But especially not Roxas, since he made so many mistakes. He wondered if she forgave him yet for all he did wrong.

Namine shrugged faintly. "I'm not the one she really needs to worry about anymore," she said, smile fading. "She wanted to find Riku. He needs her more." Riku was a wreck, though none of them understood why. Namine had her suspicions, but it wasn't her place to interfere. The only people who could were Sora and Kairi.

"Yeah...Riku," Roxas frowned. Obviously he was still ticked at the silver-haired teen; he could have warned him about the Organization instead of keeping him and Namine in the dark. But he couldn't blame him completely; Roxas had to own up to his failure in battle. That was his own fault.

Namine noticed Roxas's frown and decided Riku wasn't a good subject to dwell on. "So..." she began after a moment, biting her lip as she glanced away. "...Will you come with me?" Her eyes found the boy in front of her, wondering what he would say. He didn't have to. There was a reason he told Kairi to be with her, she guessed, so if Roxas didn't want to, he could easily decline. Namine would just go on her own.

Roxas smiled genuinely. "Sure," he said. "If you want me to." I'd do it just to see you smile. After everything that happened, it was good to see her getting excited about art again and going out of her way to socialize with him. It just showed that she was getting better.

Namine's eyes brightened at the answer, unbeknownst to her, but she smiled nonetheless. "Great," she said with a nod. "Let's go then." She glanced from Roxas to the ground shyly as she turned and started toward the art room. She didn't bother telling Roxas to clean up; he would probably get paint or clay all over himself while they were there anyway.

Roxas followed behind Namine, smiling faintly to himself. Art was definitely good for her. Even if she had a hard time drawing after the Organization, there were other kinds of art that she could still be excited about. It was a good decision to put that room together. Stepping inside of it and seeing all the options she could utilize only reassured him further that he came up with a good idea.

Namine couldn't help but smile as she looked around at all the options open to her. She approached the clay area, curious eyes darting over the setup. "What do you want to do first?" she asked, turning to look at Roxas. She didn't mind what they did, just as long as drawing wasn't involved. She hadn't been able to draw for weeks.

Roxas shrugged, though he was inwardly surprised. She wanted him to do art with her? He wasn't good at anything like that. But instead, he  wore a soft smile and told her, "Your room, your choice." Whatever she wanted to do, he'd do it with her the best he could. At least she'd probably be able to laugh at his terrible art skills.

Namine linked her hands behind her back and looked around, seeing a table set up with paints. She smiled instantly. "...How about some painting?" she asked, walking toward the table. Finger-painting, it seemed. Even better. She was sure Roxas could at least handle that.

"Painting," Roxas chuckled as he started over. "A perfect place to show off my lack of artistic skill." Of course, he didn't say that bitterly--it was just a joke. He didn't care if he embarrassed himself in front of Namine with art. Any other kind of embarrassment though wouldn't have been pleasant. Like what happened with Seifer.

Namine looked up at Roxas, her smile remaining. He laughed...and it was a beautiful sound. "Finger-painting won't be bad, I hope. You can at least handle that, right?" she teased, pulling out one of the chairs nearby and getting the supplies together. There were large pieces of paper and tons of colors to choose from. She and Roxas would enjoy this, she was sure.

"You'd be surprised," Roxas smirked. "And my painting will be sitting beside a masterpiece. That won't help my case." He looked to Namine, allowing her to gather everything. He didn't really know what to do. He put the room together for her but he didn't actually know what to do with everything. He didn't want to mess anything up.
