Rude Awakening (1x1 with Peanut)

Posted

As some of you may know, Peanut and I are crazy about Roleplaying, and it's clear, since this is the second one on this site that belongs to us. And we aren't even done with the first one! Regardless, that won't stop us from starting this new roleplay, Rude Awakening!

Kinda dark and mysterious title, eh?

As stated in the title, this RP is one on one, no exceptions. Please refrain from posting in the RP. Instead, follow us on this new journey!

Peanut, my amazing friend, let's begin!

Namine looked up at Roxas from her spot, patting the chair beside her. "You'll be fine," she encouraged him. They were both Nobodies that grew hearts of their own, true Somebodies she supposed. But both of them lacked a childhood, so for Roxas this was new. Namine had experience due to her artistic hobbies, of course, which meant that she was happy to share this with someone. Especially Roxas.

Roxas took the cue and sat beside Namine, the table already set. Sheets rested in front of each of them and the paints were open. "So 'finger painting'," he chuckled. "I'm guessing the name fits, right?" How awkward would it have been if "finger painting" wasn't what it sounded like?

Namine giggled softly and wordlessly began to pour some red paint onto a plate, leaving more room for other colors. "It fits," she agreed. She then set the red paint down and dipped her finger into the bit she put on the plate. Once she had a good amount on her finger, she dabbed her finger against the paper, creating a small flower. "Just like that, see?"

"Easy," Roxas smirked. Easy enough to be summarized in two sentences: Put finger in paint. Put finger on paper. Simple. He dipped his index finger into the red paint and began to run it across the paper, though he had no clue what to draw yet.

Namine poured some more paint on the plate before her and Roxas, and she watched him throughout her own painting. She wasn't sure what he was drawing, but he nearly spilled paint on himself when he tried pouring some more; that had her laughing. When she calmed herself down and they actually focused on making "masterpieces", she noticed that his was...different. "...Is that a cow?" she asked after a moment. Namine wasn't sure what he was trying to make, even if it was green. A cow was her only logical answer.

Roxas glanced over at Namine, and then back to his picture. A cow? How did she reach that conclusion? "...No," he said, setting a hand on the blank side of the paper. "It's a bed." It had the four legs, the big middle to sleep on and a headboard. But apparently it was more of a cow than anything else.

Namine smiled instantly, fighting chuckles, but they ultimately overcame her. She closed her eyes as she laughed at the answer to her question, and the truth to Roxas's painting. There was no way that was a bed! She could have sworn it had eyes and everything! While she was painting flowers and suns and terrible finger-versions of her friends, he was working so hard on a bed. It was hilarious, but it was also very cute.

Roxas scowled after a few moments, though he was amused. Alright, so his bed was pretty pathetic. He chuckled along with her, lifting his messy hand to his face. "Alright, so I'm a terrible artist," he said. He ran a ringer over his cheek, drawing a green line vertically. "Think I can make it as a make-up artist?" How'd the line on his face took? It probably looked more like a bed than his picture did.

Namine glanced over, but she only chuckled harder. As she laughed at Roxas's "makeup," she used what pink paint she had left on her fingers to add to it. "Only if you apply some blush," she teased among her giggles, dabbing her fingers against his cheek. Roxas's skin was soft under her touch, not that she expected anything less. Roxas always sported a clean face.

A real blush accompanied the one that Namine painted on, but Roxas ignored it for now and laughed. "I feel so pretty," he told the girl before him. "Why haven't I tried make-up before?" It was so weird, being comfortable like this. He always used to be so serious but now, he loved to laugh, and he loved making others laugh. Especially Namine.

"Because Sora would tease you for it, for one," Namine said, taking her hand back. She looked at Roxas with bright eyes, amused by his antics. This was the Roxas she first met, the one she wanted to meet "at least once." But things were different now, different than she thought they would be in the beginning. That was a very good thing.

"Yeah, he'd never let me live it down," Roxas agreed. "But what if--" He reached a hand towards Namine's face, lightly poking her nose with a blue finger, "--I did other people's make-up?" Maybe he could get away with that. He smirked at the dot of blue on her nose and the look on her precious face.

Namine blinked when Roxas poked her nose, then looking to him in surprise. "Roxas!" she said in shock. She knew that painting meant you couldn't quit without leaving with some marks, but this was just ridiculous. Regardless, she found it amusing in the end.

"It looks good on you, Nam," Roxas assured her with a soft smirk. "It matches your eyes." I blended the colors just right so that they would perfectly match your eyes, he joked further in his mind, though he really had no responsibility for the blending of the paint. It didn't go perfectly with Namine's eyes, but she still looked beautiful.

That smirk had Namine's heart racing, as did the use of the nickname. She looked away as blood rushed to her cheeks, flustered. What was happening? She had never felt this way before... What did it mean? She dipped her finger in more paint and wordlessly reached over, running her finger over Roxas's chin as it became streaked with orange paint. Hopefully he didn't see how flustered she was.

Roxas's eyes widened at the actions at first, but then he embraced the action. "I always wanted a beard," he said as he puffed out his chest. He probably didn't look more manly even if he did have a "beard" now, but he felt more confident with how she comfortably touched his face.

Namine glanced over at Roxas and couldn't help but chuckle, shaking her head. "Sora's rubbing off on you," she said. She wasn't sure whether that was good or not, either, but it probably was. Roxas was so serious lately; he needed to have some fun. Namine was glad she could help make that happen.

"The paint's the only thing rubbing off on me right now," Roxas joked. "And it's about to rub off on you, too." He reached forward, prepared to give Namine large green freckles on her cheeks. Even if he did do that, she'd still be absolutely gorgeous.

"What?" Namine gasped, and she leaned away. "No!" She cowered away, shielding her face with her hands. The paint was already dry on her nose; she didn't need anymore on her face! But knowing Roxas, he would probably push it. She did paint his face twice, after all.

Roxas smiled, backing off. "All right," he said, lifting his hands in surrender. "I won't...on one condition." There was just one little thing that he wanted from Namine and if he had that, he'd have no reason to paint her face. He'd tell her the condition as soon as she looked at him.

  • Author

Namine lowered her hands cautiously, looking over at Roxas as she slowly sat upright. "What is it?" she asked. She wasn't sure what that condition was, but by Roxas's face, she felt that she was going to be surprised. But...he always surprised her. Lately that was all he did, and for the better, it seemed.

"Don't make me paint a smile on your face," Roxas said quietly, a small smile present on his lips. "Trust me, neither of us want that with my lousy paint skills." Your smile looks much better than anything I could paint on, he was basically saying. He was blushing faintly, but hopefully the paint on his cheeks hid that somewhat.

Namine did what Roxas told her to, and that was to smile. As if she couldn't with a sweet comment like that. She saw something in his eyes that stunned her, but she recovered and lowered her gaze to the table, lightly nudging him with her elbow. "They aren't lousy," she told him gently. His painting skills were sloppy but cute. She wanted to save their paintings and hang them up back home.

"Right," Roxas laughed. "Tell that to my bed-cow." He wasn't afraid to admit that he wasn't good at painting or other types of art; it was already obvious. And with how much he made Namine smile in the past hour, he'd gladly be horrid at art just to make her laugh.

"The bed-cow is cute," Namine complimented with a faint smile. After a second of looking at the painting, she dipped her finger in yellow paint and drew a crescent moon. It could go either way; cows were associated with the moon for some reason, but a bed was for another. The painting could be interpreted however someone wanted it to be.
