Rude Awakening (1x1 with Peanut)

Posted

As some of you may know, Peanut and I are crazy about Roleplaying, and it's clear, since this is the second one on this site that belongs to us. And we aren't even done with the first one! Regardless, that won't stop us from starting this new roleplay, Rude Awakening!

Kinda dark and mysterious title, eh?

As stated in the title, this RP is one on one, no exceptions. Please refrain from posting in the RP. Instead, follow us on this new journey!

Peanut, my amazing friend, let's begin!

Roxas smiled softly down at the picture, surprised. "I never would have been able to think of that," he said, referring to the moon connecting to both cows and beds. He looked over at Namine in awe and admiration. "That's the mark of a true artist." She was creative--more so than he or the average Joe was.

Namine smiled faintly, humming at the words. She then shrugged. "I've had years of practice," she explained softly, blue eyes finding Roxas. He was sweet, and kind. And he made her smile. She didn't think he realized how grateful she was for that. Roxas was healing her.

"You can't teach creativity, Nam," Roxas pointed out with a genuine and gentle smile. "That's a part of who you are." She was naturally creative and artistic, though Kairi herself wasn't that into art. She could appreciate paintings and such, but she didn't do anything except occasional photography as far as Roxas knew. That just emphasized that Namine's creativity was there because she was Namine.

Namine was sure her cheeks were red now, and that she looked ridiculous with the red cheeks and the blue nose. Her smile grew slightly as she gazed at Roxas, acknowledging and accepting his words. All that time of drawing for the Organization and DiZ was technically practice, but it was also her abilities. She was creative, just like Roxas said, even if her shyness kept her from embracing that creativity completely.

"Alright," Roxas said as he clapped his hands together as he let Namine's blush slide. "I think my first masterpiece is done. Onto the next, right?" He still had no clue what to draw; maybe he'd actually try a cow this time. Maybe Namine could actually tell what it was this time since she had cows on the mind.

Namine turned her attention to the supplies when Roxas did, grabbing her first sheet of paper and moving it to the side. She grabbed a new one for herself and Roxas, pursing her lips as she pondered on what they should draw. "...How about I do you and you do me?" she asked. Self portraits. It would be an interesting result, she was sure.

"Uh...You sure you want me to do you?" Roxas chuckled. She saw how his last piece of art turned out; it didn't resemble what he was trying to draw at all. But at least Namine wouldn't be offended when his picture of her turned out completely awful; it wasn't because she was ugly (because she most certainly was not) but because he couldn't draw.

"Mm," Namine hummed with a faint nod, already getting to work on her portrait of Roxas. She had yellow paint on her finger tips that she brushed against the paper in curved lines, working on his hair. She was sure she could do this easy enough, but she was mostly curious as to how Roxas would do. She wouldn't be offended by his portrayal of her, of course, since this kind of art wasn't his thing. But Namine would like to see it.

Roxas smiled quietly to himself as he watched Namine get to work. She was so into it already--it was cute. "Alright," he agreed, looking at Namine a moment more before he went for some black paint. He guessed he wanted to draw an outline of her face and then work from there. He'd try to at least make it resemble her, unlike his bed-cow.

Namine and Roxas worked in silence for a long time, the only thing they could hear being the sound of each other's breathing and their fingers against the paper. Namine was busy mixing shades of blue to get the right color for Roxas, the girl sneaking glances in his direction to make sure her work was accurate. She didn't look at Roxas's paper, though, wanting to be surprised when he was finished. They were both almost done.

Roxas looked down at his picture, deciding that it was the best he was going to do. All in all, it wasn't terrible. The hair was bigger than it was on Namine's head, her eyes a tad lopsided and nose nearly invisible, but he almost got the smile right (well, if she was wearing bright red lipstick, anyway). He sighed, leaning back in his chair as he released a breath.

Namine finished up Roxas's eyes and decided that she too was done. She wiped her hands off on a paper towel and then lifted her painting by the corners, hiding it from Roxas's view. "...Okay," she said, turning to him and looking at his face instead of his art. "You ready?" She was excited to see his portrayal of her, and show him her portrayal of him.

"Oh. Hang on," Roxas said as he opened his eyes. He reached for a paper towel and wiped off his hands before he too grabbed the edges of his paper, holding it up so Namine couldn't see it. "Show each other at the same time?" he suggested. He'd look at her picture of him (and surely stare because it was bound to be amazing) and she could laugh at his picture of her.

Namine nodded with a faint smile. "On three," she encouraged softly. "One...two...three." She turned her paper around, her eyes leaving Roxas's as she instead looked to his painting. She wasn't sure what to expect, but it would be cute.

Roxas flipped his paper around at the same time as Namine, his eyes immediately landing on her painting of him. Even with finger-paints, Namine was able to do incredible things. She blended colors to get every tone of him right--his hair, his eyes, his lips--And she managed to do it within a fairly short amount of time. And there was something else he noticed: she drew him with a smile.

Namine saw the red lips that she apparently had and the lopsided eyes, but she chuckled at the sight. It was so cute! "Aww," she cooed, looking from the painting to Roxas. "It's great." There wasn't that much time of working, but Roxas did well. This was new to him, so of course it wouldn't be perfect, but Namine appreciated his portrayal, even if it wasn't accurate.

Roxas lifted a hand, scratching at his cheek as he smiled weakly. "So it doesn't look like a cow this time?" he joked, though his mind was still divided between two subjects. Namine drew him smiling. He thought that he frowned a lot, so he was surprised that she drew him with such a content expression. Why would she do that? He wasn't offended--just curious.

Namine shook her head, her eyes leaving Roxas's to look at her portrait. It actually looked like what he meant it to this time. Everyone would be able to tell that it was Namine in the picture, not a cow or anything of the sort. Namine was following up with an earlier thought, however; she was definitely putting these up back home. They were too precious.

Roxas lowered his hand, setting the picture in his lap as he did so. "I wanna ask you something," he said after a moment. "If that's okay." He didn't feel like it was an offensive question or anything that would make Namine upset; he was just genuinely curious about why she drew him the way that she did.

Namine's smile faltered slightly at the tone of Roxas's voice, but she otherwise set her picture back on the table. "Sure," she replied, setting her hands in her lap as she turned to face him. Was he upset with the idea of drawing each other? Did she offend him with her painting?

Roxas shook his head slightly, smiling faintly to reassure Namine. "It's not like that," he said. She didn't have a reason to be nervous. "It's just...Most of the time I've known you, I haven't really been a happy person. So I just wondered why you drew me with a smile, that's all." He had maybe one idea for why that was, but he'd wait to hear Namine's response before jumping to conclusions.

Namine felt her cheeks get hot at the words, and she lowered her gaze to her hands in her lap. "Oh," she said softly. "Well...the smile was for who you are now, Roxas. You weren't a happy person because of me...and it's okay to be upset about it, because I did a terrible thing, but..." Namine shrugged slightly, glancing up at the boy before her. "I just...like you like this. You're the guy I met in Twilight Town." That person was someone she admired.

Roxas smiled, though there was some sadness behind it. He hadn't meant to make Namine feel guilty for anything, but she didn't seem sad enough about it for him to further that part of the conversation. Instead, he brought up something else. "I like me like that too," he said quietly. "And that's because of you too." Yes, she messed up the first time with his personality and heart, but she saved him too. She saved his true self.

Namine closed her eyes and released a soft breath. Yes, she fixed Roxas, but...it was terrible to think of it that way. There was nothing wrong with him; he just had tangled chains in his heart, something she caused. He was fine apart from her interference. "Right," she replied quietly. After all the hurt she'd inflicted, she helped Roxas return to how he wanted to be, who he was meant to be.

Roxas saw that sad expression on Namine's face and wanted to fix it. Forgetting his shyness for now, he told her the truth boldly. "It's more than just what you did with your powers," he said gently. "You as a person make me...want to be better. And you make me smile. No small feat for a grump like me, right?" he joked, tilting his head to try and get a better view of Namine's face.
