Rude Awakening (1x1 with Peanut)

Posted

As some of you may know, Peanut and I are crazy about Roleplaying, and it's clear, since this is the second one on this site that belongs to us. And we aren't even done with the first one! Regardless, that won't stop us from starting this new roleplay, Rude Awakening!

Kinda dark and mysterious title, eh?

As stated in the title, this RP is one on one, no exceptions. Please refrain from posting in the RP. Instead, follow us on this new journey!

Peanut, my amazing friend, let's begin!

"Remember that promise I made a little while ago?" Zane asked, tilting his head. "I kept it. This isn't over, this conflict between us. I came to finish it." And he wasn't leaving until he did. Riku wasn't getting in the way this time.

Lightning's eyes remained narrowed. She knew what this meant; they all did. The conflict wouldn't be over until Zane felt he redeemed himself for the two times he was humiliated by her. He was going to use violence to end this. "Shame you won't be getting your way, then," she said lowly. "I know the only way you'll be satisfied is if you hit me, but you can't even touch me." She was too nimble and smart for him.

"We'll see about that," Zane commented, smirking. He'd been working on his agility lately, and he was sure he was better at brawls than before. He could do this, and he would. Getting beat by a girl did major crime to a man's ego. He was going to fix that tonight.

"What exactly do you plan to do?" Riku asked, arms crossed over his chest. He came to the gym, but why? There wasn't anything he could do here to prove his worth.

"Stuggle bats look friendly," Zane said, motioning toward the weapons not too far off. He would use those, if he could. But it wasn't like the Keyblade loser was going to stop him.

Lightning didn't bother looking over at Riku. She knew that he wouldn't approve of what she was about to do. "This conflict ends tonight," she agreed. "Whether you win or lose, you stay out of my life after this." That was her one condition to fighting him willingly. She was so sick of him bullying her. It was time for him to get lost.

"Fair enough, Farron." Zane smirked and headed on over to the Struggle bats, prepared to prove his worth. Lightning wouldn't ever forget him after tonight, he would be sure of that. She was going to feel pain.

Still refusing to look at Riku, Lightning stepped past him and started towards the bats. Her head wasn't pounding so much anymore and her balance was fine. She was wondering how this fight would end and when Zane would finally have to admit defeat, but she couldn't back out now. They would duel.

"Lightning," Riku called lowly. She couldn't be serious. She was suffering from a concussion and was going to go at it with Zane? She was nuts. And he wasn't about to have her suffer through worse when he was standing here.
Lightning stopped a few steps away from Riku, turning slightly to look at him. Zane was far enough away that he couldn't hear what she said quietly. "I'm sure he's going to fight dirty," she said softly, her voice not frightened. "Step in if you need to, but not a minute before that." This was her fight.

Riku's eyebrows furrowed, a frown set on his lips as well. "...Alright," he said after a minute, nodding a little. As soon as Lightning seemed like she wasn't going to be able to take on the fight with Zane, Riku was stepping in. He wouldn't hesitate.
Lightning nodded faintly before turning around and walking over to the area that she had fought in maybe an hour ago. She picked up a bat from its spot on the wall, twirling it once. Her motor skills were fine; she could do quick movements like she normally would. The concussion was only bad when it came to lights and sometimes noise. She could do this.

Zane swung the bat back and forth, prepared to take out all his frustration on the girl in front of him. He held grudges, and right now, she was at the top of his hit list. "Prepare for a knockout, Farron," he said, and not a second later, he moved in, not giving her the time to get ready. If she was so nimble, she could dodge his hits well. He would make sure to test her.

Oh, I'm ready for it, Lightning silently assured him. Your knockout. She jumped back, being cautious at first to get a feel for things. She wasn't going to be impulsive in this. And besides, wearing him out was probably a good idea. She'd let him throw his weight around for a little while before she became more aggressive.

Riku took a few steps forward, seeing how Zane jumped right into things. He watched in silence as Zane made moves toward Lightning, and she made her own. Her motor skills weren't affected by her injury, so she was moving just fine. It was where Zane was aiming, though, that set him off. He was going for Lightning's head a lot, or trying to make her fall. It was like Snow all over again.
As the fight went on, it rolled out as Lightning had expected. Zane was fighting dirty and trying to actually hurt her. Unlike her battle with Snow, she was prepared for more than just a sparring match. She blocked his bat and then swatted it away with her own, gritting her teeth. It had been a while but Zane wasn't showing any signs of exhaustion yet. He apparently had more stamina than she had originally predicted.

Zane made a jab at Lightning, but at the last second, he switched things up. After faking her out, he lifted his bat and grunted as he threw it at her head with all his strength. She was going down, and she was going down hard.

Everything unfolded too quickly. Lightning realized at one moment that the jab was a fake, but she didn't see the bat going to the side of her head. She suspected it was with Zane's style of fighting though. Then it hit her, a lot harder than Snow's had earlier. At least it felt that way. The last thing she saw within her vision was Zane before she blacked out and fell down to the ground. Out of the match, and out of consciousness.

Riku grunted in surprise, though his eyes instantly narrowed. His heart rate increased as he sprinted to Lightning's side, kneeling down next to her as Zane stood his ground. "Lightning?" he called softly, placing a hand on the side of her head. Her concussion just got worse, he was sure of it.
Lightning didn't respond to Riku, not feeling his hand softly on her head either. The struggle bat was loosely in her hand now, basically just sitting underneath her hand now. Normally this blow wouldn't have knocked her out; it only would have made her feel dazed. But with a concussion already haunting her, it caused this. She'd come to in a few seconds though.

Riku ground his teeth together naturally, infuriated with Zane's behavior. "Are you crazy?" he hollered, turning his head to glare at the boy who hurt Lightning. "She's already suffering from a concussion, idiot." But he was sure that didn't matter to Zane, and he was proven right, since the kid started laughing.

"Pathetic," Zane said, twirling his bat in his hand. "Just shows how headstrong she is...or not." He chuckled again at his own humor, but also at Riku's anger. Why was he so protective of somebody so worthless? It didn't make sense.

Lightning winced, the loud noises ringing in her ears. A low, nearly inaudible, moan left her lips as she started returning to consciousness. The voices of Riku and Zane registered to her, but not what they were saying. She felt something warm on the side of her head, and it wasn't just warmth from the wound being pained. Riku's hand was lingering there.

Riku glared at Zane, fury in his eyes. "Get out of here," he hissed. "Now." He didn't want him on his property anymore; he wasn't welcome, ever. Zane needed to go and leave Lightning alone, for good.

"And if I don't?" Zane challenged, lifting an eyebrow in amusement. This Riku guy seriously thought he could take Zane down? He wasn't scared of a Keyblade wielder. He could clearly handle himself just fine.

Riku focused on Lightning, his hand lingering on the side of her head, his fingers in her hair slightly. "Trust me, you don't want to know," he warned, voice low. He was serious. Zane needed to get out of the gym, now. If he didn't, he would suffer the consequences.

Lightning peeked her eyes open, seeing a blurry world before her. Even a few seconds out was disorienting. But it was the concussion making things worst. After a moment or two, the doubling images came together and she saw Zane standing a few feet away with a bat in his hand. Mostly she saw his legs at this angle though. ...He knocked me out, she realized. I shouldn't have accepted his challenge today.

"Oh look," Zane said, disregarding Riku's warning. "Farron's waking up." Let's see how she's doing. He took a step toward her, but grunted when he felt a rough grip on his leg. "Hey, back off!"

"I could say the same to you," Riku said, pushing the kid back. If he came toward Lightning again, he would pay. Zane did enough damage already to Lightning's life; he didn't need to do anymore. And he wouldn't, especially when Riku was around.

"Don't threaten me, Keyblade loser," Zane spat. "I'll do what I want, and this waste of space deserves what she gets." He moved forward again, bringing his leg back to kick Lightning in the side.

Riku grabbed Zane's foot with both hands this time, and he looked from it up to the boy. "What did I tell you?" he asked lowly, his voice threatening. But then he used his strength to push the kid back, a grunt leaving him from the force. Zane fell and landed a few feet away, bumping into the other Struggle bats and causing them to fall from their places.

Lightning winced at the loud crash, momentarily shutting her eyes. But then she opened them again despite her pounding head. She couldn't just lay here. She set a hand on the ground and pushed herself off her side maybe an inch. Zane was still here; no way was she going to stay down.

Riku glanced over at Lightning when he saw her sit up, and he lifted a hand to sit on her shoulder. But his eyes found Zane again, who was getting back up. Was he going to take the hint and leave? Or was he going to be reckless and try to fight a Keyblade wielder?
