Rude Awakening (1x1 with Peanut)

Posted

As some of you may know, Peanut and I are crazy about Roleplaying, and it's clear, since this is the second one on this site that belongs to us. And we aren't even done with the first one! Regardless, that won't stop us from starting this new roleplay, Rude Awakening!

Kinda dark and mysterious title, eh?

As stated in the title, this RP is one on one, no exceptions. Please refrain from posting in the RP. Instead, follow us on this new journey!

Peanut, my amazing friend, let's begin!

When Roxas entered the room, he noticed that it was much like his. The only real difference was that it had two beds instead of one. He shrugged it off, looking towards the bathroom and then to Namine. "I could just wash it off myself, you know," he said. He was just teasing about having her wipe it off before.

Namine shrugged and headed toward the connected bathroom. "I'll clean up my own mess," she said, referring to the paint on Roxas's face. She would clean him up and he would be free to leave. She grabbed a washcloth and dampened it with warm water before returning to her friend, smiling faintly as she took in the paint on his face one more time. She really did regret not having her camera.

"As you wish," Roxas said with a slight shrug as he referenced one of his favorite movies. As soon as he recalled the connection between that line and the movie's implications behind it, he fought the urge to blush. When the character said "as you wish" to the girl he liked, he was really saying, "I love you."

Namine stopped in front of Roxas and hesitated. She glanced down at his chest before lifting her hands to his face. Her fingers rested along Roxas's strong jawline as the hand with the rag started to wipe at the paint on his cheek. Just like before, his skin was soft beneath her touch. What was different was their proximity. They were much closer than normal.

As soon as Roxas felt Namine's hand on his face, he forgot to breathe. He knew he liked her and all; the hand on his face was no huge revelation. More than anything, it was a motivator. Namine wasn't doing this because she liked him back--this was just to clean the mess that she made. So if Roxas wanted her to put her hand on his face because of intimacy, he'd have to become someone worthy of her love. He would do anything just to have the privilege to be at her side.

Namine forced herself to focus on her task and not Roxas's eyes or his mouth or his skin...or anything else. She bit her lip as she concentrated, or at least tried. Roxas was just so....handsome, and kind, and strong. Was this how Kairi felt every time she was with Sora? Or Lightning with Riku? Like she couldn't breathe, and it was hard to stay away?

When Roxas realized he was staring at Namine, he looked down and over at the floor. He wanted to be worthy of her...but he wasn't. He hurt her terribly in the past, even if he was a different person then. And he wasn't able to protect her when the time came. He was tired enough to sleep now, but having Namine close made him want to start training again immediately.

Namine cleaned off one spot on Roxas's cheek after a moment, though she then moved to the paint she put on his chin. She cleared her throat faintly to fill the silence. "You're a mess," she whispered, smiling gently. Roxas really needed to stay away from the finger paints next time. Hopefully there was a next time...

For Roxas, the first thing he thought of when he heard that whisper was how people often whispered when they were close to one another more than just physically. Sora and Kairi were always whispering to one another. Then he comprehended the words themselves. "Somebody wanted me to have a beard," he said quietly. "Guess I look better without one, huh?"

Namine's smile grew a little as she nodded, glancing up at Roxas's eyes before her eyes quickly darted back to his chin as she removed it of paint. "A clean face suits you," she replied softly. Roxas wasn't the fifteen year old boy she met in Twilight Town anymore. He was eighteen, more mature, and a young man. Somebody she wanted to be close to, a realization that surprised her and paused her movements.

Roxas shifted his gaze back to Namine when she stopped cleaning his face. He knew there was still some paint left; he could feel it. And the look on her face... "What?" he asked, instinctively tilting his head slightly in question. What was up?

Namine knew she was staring, but she couldn't help it. Roxas was just so...cute, when he tilted his head like that. She blinked after a moment and lowered her gaze, her hands near her chest as she stared at Roxas's shirt. How was she supposed to answer him? If she did, she would make a fool of herself.

Roxas maintained his position, his eyes locked onto Namine's face even if she wouldn't return his gaze. He didn't get what was going on at all, and he didn't want to prod her too much. He was more cautious with Namine than he was with anyone else because she was the last person he wanted to hurt. It wasn't because of any weakness that she had, though she did make herself vulnerable by having an open heart. That heart was what made him fall for her.

Namine took in a silent breath and forced herself to clean the green stripes of paint that went from Roxas's forehead to just below his eyes. She chose to not answer his earlier question, mostly because she didn't know how to answer. How could she? Could she tell him that she thought he was cute? No...the implications of that would chase him away, wouldn't they? Roxas didn't want to date her. The proof was all the dates he went on back home. No, Namine wasn't on his radar.

Roxas didn't ask Namine again what the look was for; if she wanted to tell him, then she would have. He stayed silent and let her finish her work, the rest of the paint only taking a few minutes to come off. When she withdrew the rag for the final time, he could tell just by the feel of his face that he was cleaned up. "Guess that's it then," he said with a bit of a sigh. As soon as he spoke it, he kicked himself. His tone sounded disappointed that it was all gone--that Namine wouldn't put her hand on his face anymore. Idiot. You can't come off strong with her; it'll push her away!

Roxas's tone with the words had Namine questioning if he wanted to leave, but she chose to ignore it. Why would he want to stay with her? They were friends, of course, but he spent all day with her in the art room. He needed his rest. "That's it," she replied with a nod, smiling weakly as she kept the rag in her hands. Roxas was free to return to his room now. He needed and deserved the sleep.

"Well...thanks," Roxas said, trying to correct the tone he hadn't censored before. He was thanking her for cleaning of his face, but it was more than that. He was thanking her for giving him a break from his stress, for wanting to spend time with him, for...well, a lot of things. He had a lot to thank her for.

"Sure," Namine replied with a faint smile, her eyes on Roxas's clean face. A face that had matured over the past few years and sometimes left Namine staring. "Next time we'll steer clear of the finger paints." If there was a next time. If Roxas decided to join her in the art room again--their art room, as she liked to call it--maybe she could show him how to do something else less messy.

"If you thought I was bad at that, I can't wait to show you how bad I am at everything else," Roxas chuckled. He was completely horrible at even finger painting, so whatever else Namine had in store for him would most certainly be another opportunity to showcase his terrible art skills.

Namine's eyes brightened, unbeknownst to her, at the implication. So Roxas would return to the art room again? He would do art with her? Her smile grew slightly as she fought the urge to giggle. "Alright," she replied with a nod. "Can't wait." However long they were on this world, she guessed she could look forward to their next get-together.

"Me neither," Roxas replied with a genuine smile. Namine's eyes just shone when he said he would go to the art room with her. He thought maybe he was reading into it too much, but today...felt like a date. They spent all day together, just the two of them. He felt such attraction to her...Was today a date after all? Was their next get-together a date?

Namine found herself gazing at Roxas longer than she probably should have, mostly because of that smile. Again with the handsomeness. She lowered her gaze to the floor, tightening her grasp on the rag in her hands. So Roxas was excited to see her again...in the art room of course. That was nice to know. Instead of bugging Kairi all the time, she had someone else she could spend time with. Roxas.

Roxas began to blush, unable to help it with those thoughts of his and the words that escaped his lips. "I had a lot of fun today, Namine," he told her quietly, glancing from her face to the floor and then back again. Gosh, it felt so much like saying goodbye after a date. And he knew how most dates ended: a quick kiss on the cheek. But was this even a date? ...Was it appropriate to give her a kiss on the cheek, even if it was just a "thank you"?

Namine closed her eyes at the words, able to hear the smile in Roxas's voice. That was such a good thing to hear after all the hurt she caused him. She lifted her head and saw the blush on his cheeks, able to see the rosiness clearly since she cleaned his face. "Me too," she replied. It was all thanks to him. If he hadn't made the art room, she probably would have still been stressing about Seifer.

Roxas stared at Namine's face when her eyes were closed. This was it. This was their goodbye. It was now or never... He leaned towards her and gave her a quick kiss on the cheek before he withdrew, his cheeks even more red after the action was over. "...Goodnight."
