Rude Awakening (1x1 with Peanut)

Posted

As some of you may know, Peanut and I are crazy about Roleplaying, and it's clear, since this is the second one on this site that belongs to us. And we aren't even done with the first one! Regardless, that won't stop us from starting this new roleplay, Rude Awakening!

Kinda dark and mysterious title, eh?

As stated in the title, this RP is one on one, no exceptions. Please refrain from posting in the RP. Instead, follow us on this new journey!

Peanut, my amazing friend, let's begin!

Namine blinked, her eyes roaming Roxas's form and lingering on his feet, which were off the ground. "...You've done this before?" she asked softly, looking to his face. Had he done this when he was in the Organization? It had to be then. Namine couldn't think of any other time he was off-world.

"Yeah," Roxas nodded. "A long time ago." Everyone could probably figure out it was during his time with the Organization; that was really the only time he was apart from everyone for an extended period of time. That and when he was a part of Sora on his adventure. He ignored those thoughts, finding them unimportant for the current moment. "It's easy," he assured Namine.

Namine lifted her hand to tuck back some of her hair, lowering her gaze. "Right," she said. Easy. She glanced over and saw Aqua hovering off the ground, a small squeal leaving the Master. She could do this. She just had to believe in it.

Roxas smiled, offering a hand to Namine. "Here," he said, though he wasn't sure what good his hand would do her. To fly, you had to have pretty strong faith: it couldn't just be, "I might be able to fly," it has to be, "I am able to fly." Hopefully if Namine saw him, Sora, and now Aqua off the ground, her faith would increase.

Namine gazed at the hand offered to her, and then to the sincere smile Roxas wore. He believed she could do it. The blonde lifted and slid her smaller hand into Roxas's, the contact making her heart flutter. If Roxas believed she could do it, she could. She took in the contact between them, and that was when her feet lifted off the ground, and her grasp on Roxas's hand tightened. "Huh?" she questioned, seeing pixie dust trail from her form to the ground. She...was flying?!

Roxas chuckled happily, keeping his grasp on Namine's hand. "There you go!" he encouraged. "Now, ready to soar  higher?" He'd bring her up with him easily, though he wouldn't go too high. He didn't know if Namine was afraid of heights or not.

Namine's wide eyes found Roxas, and she gripped his hand more at the question. "As long as you don't let go," she replied. She was afraid of heights. Even the glider scared her, so flying on her own would be equally terrifying, if not more. What if she stopped flying? What if she fell?

Roxas smiled softly, nodding. "I won't let go till you're ready," he said more gently. He would have offered his other hand, but that would have been counterproductive. Namine needed to have more faith in herself and her flying abilities; leaning too heavily on Roxas would hinder her from reaching the realization that she could completely fly on her own without fear of falling.

Namine smiled faintly and nodded to Roxas. "Alright," she said softly. "You lead." She would hold onto him until she was comfortable, and then she would ask him to let go. But...Namine wasn't sure she wanted that anymore. Now that she was holding Roxas's hand, she didn't want to let it go.

Lightning's eyes caught onto Roxas and Namine slowly ascending, the rose-haired girl having previously looked at Ven joking around with Sora by flying around him and Serah, Aqua, and Kairi trying to just grasp how to control themselves once they were flying. As for her and Riku, they were still on the ground. "Well?" she prompted, looking at the side of his face. What was he waiting for?

Riku watched his friends until Lightning spoke, and then he lowered his gaze to the ground. "I've never flown before," he said lowly. He wasn't sure how to even start. He'd been in a dark place lately, so where would he get faith and trust from? Apart from that, he wasn't going to put Lightning down until she knew she could fly; putting weight on her legs was a bad idea.

"Doesn't seem too hard though," Lightning said. It had been less than five minutes since Tinkerbell left and all but two of them were off the ground. "Want to put me down to get a handle on it?" She wasn't sure what she would do yet--Yeah, flying looked easy for everyone else, but she didn't trust people or things easily. This could be problematic for her.

"Is that a good idea? Your legs..." Riku looked over his shoulder at her, his hands still securing her legs against his waist. He didn't want to cause her pain by doing this. Maybe if he set her down somewhere... Like a rock or something. She could at least sit and feel the difference, right?

Lightning smiled to encourage Riku, though there was sadness behind it. "I'll survive," she said. She was used to being in pain now; it was a sad fact of reality that she couldn't deny. Besides, he had to put her down at some point--he couldn't hold her for all eternity, or until she finally convinced herself not to be in pain. What was wrong with her that she couldn't overcome the lie of pain?

Riku hesitated, frowning to himself as he pondered her words. Lightning would live through it, "it" being pain. He glanced up at the sky to see Kairi doing a slow flip in the air, and Serah giggling as she twirled. Lightning surely wanted to be up there with her sister. "Alright," he finally agreed, lowering her gently to the ground. He would be right next to her the entire time.

Lightning tried to ignore her dark thoughts, and for once, she was thankful for the physical pain; it was a good distraction, until she remembered why it was there in the first place. She released Riku's shoulders, putting weight on her feet for a second before she sat (or plopped) down on the grass.

Riku turned around when he heard Lightning fall to the ground, and he sighed. "That's why I didn't want to put you down," he said softly, kneeling down in front of her. He didn't want her just to fall, but what did he expect from her? Her legs hurt, so she wouldn't keep the weight on them. Hopefully she could find the faith to fly so she wouldn't be stuck sitting anymore.

Lightning shook her head, masking the pain on her face as she looked to Riku. "What? You didn't expect me to sit?" She was acting dumb, and on purpose, too. Her "sitting down" wasn't as light as she wanted it to be. A week ago, she could at least walk on her legs for very short periods of time. Now...nothing. She almost couldn't put weight on them at all. I'm messed up.

"Well, I brought you hear so you could fly," Riku stated, playing along. If they avoided the darker stuff, Lightning would be able to find her faith easier. "Why don't we focus on that instead of the sitting?" He would help Lightning fly first, then worry about himself. She came first, as usual.

"Alright, sure," Lightning nodded, silently appreciating how Riku played along with her stupidity. But she could see how her pain affected him: she could see the sorrow in his face. Surely he remembered what he said to the other day as well, about her lying to herself and creating the pain in her head. She sadly didn't forget.

"You've got the pixie dust, now all you need is that faith and trust," Riku said, smiling faintly to cover up his sorrow. He didn't like seeing Lightning hurt, but right now, it was inevitable. Until she flew, that is. He would help her if she needed him to.

"You need it too, genius," Lightning pointed out with a slight smirk to Riku. She wasn't going to put up with those dark thoughts and memories, not right now. Today, she was going to enjoy time with all of her friends and Serah, who now knew the truth about their father and was also chasing away dark thoughts by having fun.

"I'll have my faith when you've got yours," Riku said, tilting his head. When Lightning could fly, he would have faith that he could too. "Now think. There has to be something that makes you believe in yourself." Whatever it was, or whoever it was, it would help Lightning get off the ground and into the air.

"Nope, you're not getting off that easily," Lightning said, not letting the first thing slide. She wanted Riku to fly before she could. And also...What was she supposed to think of to believe in herself? Her self-confidence these days wasn't great. She glanced from her lap to Riku, though she immediately noticed something out of place. Sora and Ven were both behind him. They reached under his arms and grabbed him tight before they lifted off, taking Riku with them.

"Whoa, hey!" Riku cried, squirming in his friends' grasps. He looked on both sides, noticing that Sora and Ven were the perpetrators. "What're you doing?!" He didn't know how to fly yet! If they let him go, he would dive straight into the water. Considering how high they were going, it would be a painful landing.
