Rude Awakening (1x1 with Peanut)

Posted

As some of you may know, Peanut and I are crazy about Roleplaying, and it's clear, since this is the second one on this site that belongs to us. And we aren't even done with the first one! Regardless, that won't stop us from starting this new roleplay, Rude Awakening!

Kinda dark and mysterious title, eh?

As stated in the title, this RP is one on one, no exceptions. Please refrain from posting in the RP. Instead, follow us on this new journey!

Peanut, my amazing friend, let's begin!

"Point being that your heart is a victim to the Darkness if you don't stop hiding behind your shell," Riku said, putting it bluntly. "Been there, and it nearly killed me. I doubt that's a fate you rea

"Helping you find your faith," Sora piped. "We'll give you ten seconds before we let you go." It wouldn't be that bad of a drop if he couldn't fly; he'd just get soaking wet. Sora hoped for both his and Riku's sake that he found his faith quickly so that Riku didn't get angry and beat him up. "Ten..."

"You're not serious!" Riku said in disbelief, but by the look on Sora's face, he definitely was. The silver-haired Master looked down, seeing the ground below. They weren't flying anywhere, just hovering over the water about fifty feet in the air. If I don't think of something fast, not only will I get soaked, but I'll be humiliated, he thought, hearing Kairi encourage him from where she hovered a little ways off.

Sora smirked, noticing that everyone was a member of the audience. He was doing Riku a favor; he often thought best when he was put under pressure. And he was counting slowly to give Riku a chance to actually think. "Seven.......Six.......Five...." Riku better have thought of something or had an inkling of an idea by then; his time was running out.

"Sora!" Riku hollered in warning. This was not the time for games. If Riku did manage to fly--which was a big if by this point--he was going to hunt Sora down and kill him for this. Ven would be in trouble too, for tagging along. Riku searched his mind in panic, trying to think of something, anything, that would help him fly. He had to. Sora wasn't giving him a choice.

Sora looked over at Ven, confirming with one look that they weren't giving this up just because of Riku's protesting. And now he reached the bottom of his count. "Two........One.......Zero!" he cried. He and Ven released Riku's arms at the same time, also backing away so they wouldn't be hit by flailing arms or anything.

"Sora!" Riku cried again, his stomach rising to his throat as he plummeted for the water. He didn't flail too badly, only slightly from the initial shock. But now he had to think of something to trigger his flying ability, and he had to think fast. He told Lightning to think of something that helped her believe in herself, and for him the first thing that came to mind was a person. Lightning. She believed in him when he was in a dark place recently, and she trusted him. If Riku could fly, she would find the faith in herself to do the same. Riku squeezed his eyes shut as the water got closer, bracing for impact as he lifted his arms to help shield his face from the water, but his feet never touched the water. After a few seconds of waiting, he opened his eyes and looked down, a grunt of surprise leaving him as his eyes widened. Riku was flying.

While Serah let out a cheer, Sora let out a sigh of both relief and terror. "Kairiiiiii!" he cried, quickly flying towards her and hovering behind her. Protect me! He knew going into this that Riku was going to kill him, but he still thought it was a good idea for some reason. Not anymore.

Kairi glanced behind her, but then her eyes found Riku, who was looking at Sora from his spot just above the water. "Uh...I don't think I'll be able to stop him," she said softly, and a little nervously. Sora was kind of asking for punishment with that move, though. She couldn't really stop Riku from wanting to exact revenge.

"You...are so...dead," Riku said, grinding his teeth together as he glared at Sora. Once he figured out how to move around while flying, and after Lightning got to fly on her own, he would hunt Sora down and make him regret dropping him. Ventus too.

"Not in front of the wife, please?" Sora begged of Riku. Despite Kairi's words, he wasn't going to be moving away from her anytime soon. She had at least some chance of being a good defense; Riku would never accidentally hurt Kairi, so he wouldn't roughhouse near her. She was his last hope.

Riku rolled his eyes and grunted in aggravation, his sight resting on the girl who still sat on the grass. He wasn't too far from her now that he was above the water and not fifty feet in the air. His aggravation melted away upon seeing her, and he smiled faintly, shrugging. He was flying...as weird as that was.

Lightning shrugged slightly in return, a smirk already lingering on her face do to Sora and Ven's actions. She had to admit that they were hilarious just now, and their methods worked. They got Riku to fly in less than one minute: an impressive feat.

Riku looked down at his feet, wondering how exactly he was supposed to move. Did he just...think about going up and then it happened? He swallowed and decided that was his only choice, because Sora definitely wasn't going to offer his assistance now. Riku thought about moving up and that was exactly what he did, the young man rising above the water before he forced himself forward. Carefully he descended to touch the ground next to Lightning, looking over his form briefly to see that the pixie dust had faded now that he was touching land. Well...at least he had some handle on it.

"Nice job," Lightning praised, still smirking and holding back a laugh. If Riku heard her laugh at him, she wasn't sure how he'd react. She doubted that he would pick her up and hover her over the water though; he was too kindhearted to put her in that type of situation, especially with her legs being this way.

Riku caught that smirk, and he gave Lightning a look. "Yeah," he said, walking forward the few feet left between them and looking down at her. "...Your turn." He flew, and now she was the only one left. He wondered how they could make it work, but at the very least, he could have her fly with him. She at least would be off the ground that way.

"My turn to be held over the water? No thanks." But of course, Lightning knew what he was saying. He wanted her to fly along with him and everyone else. She was the last one, after all, and though everyone was trying to hide it, she knew that they were waiting to see her fly too.

Riku smiled a little at the joke, but otherwise held out his hand. He would take her with him, and whenever she was ready, he would let her go. Roxas and Namine were still hand in hand, but Namine was more scared of heights than Lightning. Lightning would have an easier time dealing with the height, but he wasn't sure about the faith.

Lightning hid her nervousness, reaching up to grab hold of Riku's hand. This was going to be painful until she got the hang of flying; she'd have to stand up on her own two legs before take-off and put up with that pain. But still, she had to try...if not for herself, then for Riku. He just put off kicking Sora's butt to help her; that was a big deal.

"It'll hurt just for a second," Riku promised. That was an oath he could keep. As soon as Lightning was on her feet, he would take her into the sky where she was weightless. She wouldn't have to worry about her legs hurting at all when she was in the sky.

"Okay," Lightning said. She shouldn't have been surprised that Riku looked through her and saw her concerns. With her legs, it was pretty obvious. She reached up and grabbed his other hand, working quickly so that the pain would be over just as well. She bent her legs and set her feet on the ground before she pulled herself up with her upper-body strength, the pain dizzying her for a moment.

Once Lightning was on her feet, Riku didn't waste any time pulling her quickly but gently to his chest. Once his arms were around her, he lifted off the ground and took her into the air by only a few feet. He stopped there, the two of them about five feet off the ground. Was she alright?

"Tch," Lightning winced, eyebrows furrowed and eyes shut as her face hid in Riku's shoulder. That was worse than she expected it to be. But thankfully all the weight was off them now, and the pain would start to go away soon. But there was one good thing that came out of this: being in Riku's secure arms.

Riku hovered off the ground, staying put mostly because his thoughts were focused on Lightning. "Light...?" he whispered softly. Was she alright? He doubted it, but he at least needed to know that she was okay in the air. If not...he guessed he needed to put her back down.

"I'm okay," Lightning said, forcing herself to get composed quickly. "I'm okay, see?" She lifted her face out of Riku's shoulder and looked up at him, forcing a smile. But it was very superficial; the pain was still there. She just needed a minute to get over that, and then she'd be better.

Riku's eyebrows furrowed and he frowned. Lightning didn't need to hide anything from him. When did she ever think she had to? Most recently, maybe, because Riku was weak. But...he was alright now, and she would be too. Riku really just wanted her to forget the pain and have fun today, with Serah and him and their friends. Lightning deserved it, after all the good she'd done and all she suffered.

Lightning's superficial smile turned into a more genuine smile as she dared to lift one of her hands and flick his nose. "I hope that wasn't as painful as Tinkerbell's kick," she said as she placed her hand onto his shoulder. She highly doubted it was, considering Riku physically recoiled to the fairy's kick.
