Rude Awakening (1x1 with Peanut)

Posted

As some of you may know, Peanut and I are crazy about Roleplaying, and it's clear, since this is the second one on this site that belongs to us. And we aren't even done with the first one! Regardless, that won't stop us from starting this new roleplay, Rude Awakening!

Kinda dark and mysterious title, eh?

As stated in the title, this RP is one on one, no exceptions. Please refrain from posting in the RP. Instead, follow us on this new journey!

Peanut, my amazing friend, let's begin!

"I can be a little selfish," Riku said with a crooked smile. He kept Lightning close as chatter filled the area around them, the city bustling despite the drizzle of rain. He hadn't even thought of shielding Lightning's eyes, and thankfully he didn't have a reason to. That man was just shady, and creepy. At least the rest of the shops didn't seem that way.

"No kidding," Lightning said, squeezing Riku with the hand that was resting close to his side. "Serah'd be appalled to see such selfishness." Actually, Serah would have been appalled at the merchant. She probably would have kicked him away in surprise, which would not have been good at all.

"I would have gotten scolded, for sure," Riku agreed with a nod. At Lightning's squeeze, he felt...different. Lighter, more like himself. He felt good again. Could he consider their trip into the city into a date? He'd never officially taken her on one as a couple... They were still a couple, right?

"I hope you have plans to make up for that blunder," Lightning taunted lightly. She looked around, noticing most people were naturally out of the way of their path. That was good, considering that she and Riku couldn't be separated. It wasn't as if she was strong enough to walk on her own just yet.

"I've got a few," Riku said, smirking as he looked down at Lightning. She wasn't much shorter than him, so he didn't have a hard time supporting her. She was easy to support anyway, as light as she was. Her hair was sticking to her forehead, much like his was, but Riku lifted a hand to brush Lightning's damp bangs away from her eyes.

"You want to make sure nothing shields my eyes next time we run into a shady merchant?" Lightning guessed with Riku's most recent action. It didn't work extremely well anyway; her hair was stubborn and sticking to her face in certain places because of the rain. Now that she thought about it, Riku's was too, but his laid more naturally than hers did when it was wet.

Riku released a small "hmph" in amusement. "No. If that happens again, I'll put you first," he said, his eyes flitting over her figure. "But...you could use some new clothes. How's a toga sound?" He lifted an eyebrow, curious. Lightning in a toga... He wasn't sure if he would laugh or be shocked. They would just have to find out.

"A toga?" Light laughed. "Yeah right." But as she made that comment, the rain began to come down harder again. A chill ran down her spine, the coolness of the rain and of her clothes getting to her for a brief second. Even so, wearing a toga seemed weird, even if it was dry, warmer clothing.

Riku smiled despite the rain, looking around. "Look," he said, pointing to a close shop. "There's a toga shop right there. Let's go." Riku gave Lightning's side a squeeze and started forward in the rain, sure that the downpour was just for a few minutes, like the last one. Regardless, Riku wanted to see Lightning in a toga. He was too curious to pass on this opportunity.

"Looks like I don't have much of a choice," Lightning retorted, coming along with Riku. He knew that she couldn't go anywhere on her own, and even if she could, she wouldn't leave him in the city. It wasn't that she was scared for herself getting lost or running into shady people--she could handle those. She was more worried about Riku being lost and being unwilling to ask for directions.

Riku guided Lightning to the shop where the saleswoman helped her find a toga. Riku waited patiently, leaning against the nearest wall inside. He watched shoppers come and go, but he was anticipating Lightning's reveal. He was sure she would look gorgeous; she always did.

Lightning dressed in the changing room, surprised that such a different culture would be so similar to others in terms of shopping. Nevertheless, she took off her wet clothing and put on the creamy white toga dress. It wasn't a typical toga with one arm strap and the fabric draping across it: it had two sleeves that went down to her elbows. There was a large slit on both the sleeves, revealing her arms and shoulders. Gold, brown, and white beads adorned those slits and the neckline, the brown color complimented by the brown belt that fit at her waist. It went all the way down to the floor, and just as Lightning was inspecting it, a female shopkeeper burst into the room.

"Gorgeous!" the boisterous lady boomed. "But your hair!" She spun Lightning around and sat her down on the dressing room's chair, pulling hair clips out of her dress pockets to do Lightning's hair in a beautiful way that was normal to the locals.

Riku heard the saleswoman burst into applause about something, and he imagined it had to do with Lightning. He turned his head, looking in that direction as he remained against the wall. She really did look beautiful, didn't she? Now he really couldn't wait to see her.

Lightning was too stunned to protest to the actions of the enthusiastic shopkeeper. Within five minutes, Lightning had two thin braids on either side of her head going back and leading into the bun that was by her neck. The shopkeeper spoke all the way through, saying that she was a gorgeous girl and wanted to devote all day to playing with her hair but she needed to be on the floor. The woman pulled Lightning to her feet once she was done, opening up the curtains dramatically to show her creation to the world. "Beautiful," the shopkeeper said one last time, walking away as Lightning kept a hand against the wall in a daze. What just happened?

Riku looked over toward the changing room again, and he had to blink to make sure he was seeing things correctly. Lightning? he thought in shock, pushing himself away from the wall. He felt his lips part in surprise. The gown...and the hair... She looked...beautiful, just like the lady said. No, better than beautiful. She was breathtaking.

Lightning heard someone breathe the words, "a goddess," and her eyes instinctively went over to the young man who spoke those words. But he was with another young woman, who promptly walked away in fury when he complimented someone other than her. Lightning looked away as the man struggled to rationalize with the girl, her focus soon going to rest on the stunned Riku. She didn't know how she looked; there was no mirror in the room. She was guessing she looked okay, judging by the stranger's remark.

Riku wanted to tell the stranger to get lost at his remark, but he couldn't tear his eyes away from Lightning. "...Light," he said, breathless. He was speechless. Didn't she realize how great she looked? He'd never seen someone so beautiful...ever.

Lightning couldn't decipher the look in Riku's eyes; he hardly looked at her with that specific expression. She couldn't even begin to figure out what he was thinking, but even so, her cheeks turned pink. Maybe...he didn't like it. "....No good?" she checked after a moment.

"N-no, no!" Riku insisted quickly, shaking his head. He took a few steps forward, his movements slow. "No, it's...perfect." She looked perfect. She always had, in fact, but...this was too good to pass up. He had to get it for her. She didn't really have a choice anymore.

Lightning glanced down at the dress, seeing the fabric lay nicely. But... "This dress may not be good for the rain, though," she said rationally, lifting her gaze up to Riku again as he was closer. The dress was an off-white color, and few were brave enough to wear white in the rain. She was brave in many aspects, but she wasn't stupid enough to do that.

Riku shrugged. "Then we'll avoid it," he said in compromise. Lightning was wearing that toga. Riku would buy her a coat or jacket or top layer of some sort that they sold around here to make sure she kept it. He already knew what costume she'd be wearing for Halloween this year. This was it.

"Riku," Lightning said, giving him a look that told him to be reasonable. How were they supposed to avoid the rain? Yeah, they could walk underneath some awnings in the marketplace, but they wouldn't always have something to protect them.

Riku rolled his eyes and put his hands on his hips, looking past Lightning to her changing room. "Then put your old clothes on, but I'm still buying the dress," he said, giving her a look in return. They could pick up one for Serah as well while they were here.

Lightning kept the look, putting one of her hands on her hip to imitate Riku. "Wasn't the purpose of this trip to get dry clothes to wear immediately?" If the dress wasn't good for the rain and she wasn't going to wear it immediately, then there wasn't much point in buying it. Why was Riku being so irrational?

Riku looked away and found more items in the shop. He then motioned with his head to a poncho, which would cover the dress nicely. "That should work," he said with a proud smirk. "Now grab your clothes, and help me find something for Serah." He walked over and grabbed the burgundy poncho from the table, not even bothering to check the price. He had enough.
