Rude Awakening (1x1 with Peanut)

Posted

As some of you may know, Peanut and I are crazy about Roleplaying, and it's clear, since this is the second one on this site that belongs to us. And we aren't even done with the first one! Regardless, that won't stop us from starting this new roleplay, Rude Awakening!

Kinda dark and mysterious title, eh?

As stated in the title, this RP is one on one, no exceptions. Please refrain from posting in the RP. Instead, follow us on this new journey!

Peanut, my amazing friend, let's begin!

Namine was quick to look away, her eyes finding the screen again. Her heart was still racing as she took in the warmth of Roxas's hand on her shoulder. Her t-shirt was pretty thin, so the heat was noticeable. But...Namine liked it. While it threw her off at first, she liked it now. It was...comforting, in a way. It was Roxas.

Serah glanced over at Roxas and Namine, mainly because the two of them couldn't seem to stay quiet during the movie. But when she saw Namine under Roxas's arm, she smiled softly and glanced back at her sister. Namine and Roxas were in the pre-relationship stage, but Lightning and Riku were already in one. Why couldn't Lightning cuddle up to Riku like Namine was to Roxas?

Riku gazed at the screen, his arm behind Lightning on the beanbag. He'd seen this movie before, and the main showdown was approaching. But...his thoughts weren't really there. He wanted to be with Lightning, alone. Would they have another chance at this later?

Sora and the gang sat through the end of the movie in silence. The last hour was too intense for anyone to interrupt, and anyway, he had a feeling that a lot of people were distracted. He was, but probably not for the same reason as people like Riku and Roxas. As Lightning turned off the movie screen, Sora dropped the bombshell. "...Kairi and I were thinking that it's time to go home."

Lightning stopped where she was, her back to the rest of the room. Home. Of course she thought about going home a dozen times, but then she remembered why she left. She was going to be arrested for the "murder" of her father. And Riku stopped that arrest from happening. Whenever they went back, it would be trouble. Sometimes she questioned whether she wanted to go back at all to a world that was so cruel to her.

Riku looked over at his friends, who sat in the beanbag beside him. "...You're serious?" he asked lowly, hesitant. Going home, at least for him and Lightning, wasn't a good idea. They were in trouble with the authorities. Didn't his friends remember that? Better yet, had he ever told them?

Kairi nodded with a weak smile. "We've been gone long enough," she said, of her and Sora. She couldn't speak for the others. "The Islands are home." They belonged there, and wanted to raise a family together there. It was where they were meant to be.

Sora nodded as well, glancing over at Riku since he had the most concerns with going home. "I don't know what you guys want to do, but...We were thinking of going home tomorrow." It was sudden, but they were thinking about it a lot the past few days. With the Xehanort crisis over, it was time to go home.

"Are you taking my parents with you?" Riku asked then, that being one of his main concerns. He knew that his parents left to see him and Lightning, but what about their damage? Did Riku and Lightning's run-in with the law affect his parents? Surely the paparazzi were wondering where they were while they were gone, so his parents had to make up excuses. But...what would they go home to?

"They said they wanted to come," Sora nodded. They didn't know what to do with themselves in this castle. They saw Riku and Lightning start recover from their trauma, but other than that, they had no reason to be here. They couldn't avoid the paparazzi forever.

"...You're going too, right?" Kairi asked, sitting up a little in her seat. The Islands weren't the same without Riku. He was going with them, wasn't he? Where would he go otherwise? He couldn't stay in this castle forever.

Riku lowered his gaze, not sure how to answer. He didn't even know if he was welcome home after what happened at the apartment. The second he got there, he would be arrested.

"Kai," Sora said quietly, giving her a simple reminder through his tone. They talked about this before; Riku left the Islands on bad terms. He might not want to go back with them, no matter how badly they wanted him to.

Kairi looked to Sora before letting her eyes fall. Right...she thought, biting her lip. Riku was in trouble back home, Lightning too. They told them about it before, but she forgot until now. Riku couldn't stay away forever though! He belonged on the Islands!

"...It might be good to go home," Roxas said upon hearing the silence. He sort of wanted to stay and train harder, but at the same time, he wanted Namine to go home, and he wanted to be with her. It'd be good for her to go home and get back to normal life.

Riku glanced over at the blondes who still shared a chair, seeing Namine nod in agreement. He found Lightning at the silence that followed, wondering what she was thinking. He wouldn't go home without her. If she went, so did he.

While Lightning heard Ven suggest that he and Aqua would do some catching up with the worlds, she felt Riku's gaze on her back. Serah's too. There was this obvious tension in the room, and she knew that she was the cause of it. As Ven finished up his sentence, Lightning finally turned around and looked right at Riku. "...You should go home," she said quietly to him. The Islands was his home.

Riku leaned forward, eyes on Lightning's. "I go if you go," he told her, voice stern. He wasn't leaving without her. They were in this together, no matter what they faced. That was how it had always been with them. Riku wasn't quitting now.

Lightning's eyebrows automatically furrowed. She didn't like what Riku said. "Sorry," she said, looking to Sora and Kairi. "I'll convince Riku to come with you, but it'll take a minute." She walked towards her boyfriend, holding out a hand to help him stand up. They needed to talk.

Riku casted a look Sora and Kairi's way, seeing at least the latter look to him at the words. He didn't say anything, instead taking Lightning's hand and following her out of the movie room. Did they really need to discuss this? Riku wasn't leaving her, not after all they went through, and what they established tonight. They were staying together.

Lightning didn't bother walking far with Riku. Once they were out of the movie room, she shut the door and looked at him. "I want you to go home," she said firmly. That was where his friends and family would be, and that was where he belonged. She knew he was in trouble with the law because of what he did for her, but he could work his way out of it pretty easily because he was a Keyblade wielder.

"And I want to stay with you," Riku said, still keeping his grasp on Lightning's hand. Did she seriously think he was going to just leave her? Not a chance. Riku devoted himself to Lightning a long time ago. He wasn't going back on his word now.

Lightning glanced down at the ground. "If I go back, they'll..." She didn't have to finish that sentence. They'd lock her in jail and throw away the key. Riku could apologize for assaulting the officers; he could lie and say that he realized he made a horrible mistake. Just because she had to stay away didn't mean he had to.

"No they won't," Riku said, stepping forward and lifting his free hand to the side of Lightning's head. "I have the video. They can't do anything." All they could do was plead not guilty for her case. Lightning was going to be fine. She was going to be with him and be fine.

Light automatically softened when Riku set his hand on the side of her head. "What if that doesn't make a difference?" she said quietly. He had the evidence in her favor, but whatever video Seifer handed over was convincing enough to get her arrested immediately. What if they didn't even look at this one?

"Lightning," Riku said, voice soft. She didn't get it, did she? "I watched all of it. Twelve hours of footage are more than enough to prove your innocence." She was in the clear. Riku would defend her if this went to trial. Of course he would. He was in the very end of it, when he stopped her from stabbing Cedric after a few too many.

"What if they don't even watch it?" Light asked, keeping her gaze down on the ground. "What then?" Yeah, the footage showed that Cedric was clearly in the wrong and Lightning was the victim, but who said the police would watch it? They were convinced she was a murderer, so why bother looking at more evidence?

  • Author

"If anyone finds out they didn't include a significant amount of evidence like that, the case will fall through," Riku said, running his thumb over Lightning's pink hair. He couldn't believe that the police wouldn't look into his additional piece of evidence. What kind of law enforcement would that be?
