Rude Awakening (1x1 with Peanut)

Posted

As some of you may know, Peanut and I are crazy about Roleplaying, and it's clear, since this is the second one on this site that belongs to us. And we aren't even done with the first one! Regardless, that won't stop us from starting this new roleplay, Rude Awakening!

Kinda dark and mysterious title, eh?

As stated in the title, this RP is one on one, no exceptions. Please refrain from posting in the RP. Instead, follow us on this new journey!

Peanut, my amazing friend, let's begin!

Riku smirked again, unable to help it. "You really think you can intimidate me into telling you something, don't you?" he asked, amused. It wasn't happening, and Lightning should have known that. Especially by how he dodged the order, again.
"Hoping," Lightning corrected with a slight smirk. She was hoping that she could intimidate him, but she seriously doubted that it was going to work on him. He hadn't seen her angry too often. With Zane that first night, she had been angry, but he had never seen the full brunt of it. If he had, he would have been running for the hills.

Riku's smirk only remained as he lifted one of his hands, lightly nudging under Lightning's chin. "Keep trying, kid," he said, then winking at the girl before him. He then turned, starting to leave the kitchen. He wasn't saying anything.
Lightning despised the name, but she wasn't about to start a fight now. She ducked around Riku and stood in the doorway. She arched a brow at him, blocking his way. "Okay," she said. "I will." She would keep trying to get him to talk. He was just convincing her that whatever he had been thinking was important.

Riku chuckled, shaking his head a little before lifting a hand to run through his hair. When he pulled his hand away, his hair was slightly messed up, not that he really cared. This girl was relentless. Besides, what he was thinking wasn't that important.
Lightning thought Riku was actually...adorable with his hair a bit frazzled. But she wasn't about to show it. "I'll let up if you offer me something in return," she said with the same small smirk. If he offered her something like staying for another hour, or watching a movie with her tomorrow after school, she'd let him off the hook.

"And that would be?" Riku asked, tilting his head a little. Lightning was making a deal with him now? Interesting. She clearly wanted to get something her way today, not that he blamed her.
Lightning tried to keep her smirk the same, but it turned towards a genuine smile as she gazed at Riku. "More time with you, friend," she said. That was her condition. Riku had to know by now that Lightning didn't have any real friends except for him. Spending time with him was enjoyable.

Riku was slightly surprised by the request, but after a second or two, he accepted. His smirk turned into a small smile as he lifted a hand, ruffling Lightning's hair gently. "Fine," he said. He guessed he could hang out with her more...though that wasn't necessarily a bad thing at all.
Lightning scoffed lightly at Riku's action, lifting a hand to fix her pink hair. "Alright then," she said. She stepped to the side so that Riku could step past her if he wanted to. They had a deal now. He could keep his secret and she would spend a little more time with him. Both of them got something they wanted out of this.

"Let's start today," Riku said, stepping past Lightning toward the living room. He plopped down on the couch and looked over his shoulder at Lightning, smirking again. While he was here, they might as well do something interesting. He was through talking.
"If you insist," Lightning responded with a smirk. She followed Riku to the couch and sat down next to him, wondering if he had anything specific in mind. If they were going to make a habit out of getting together, they had to come up with ideas other than watching movies to make it worthwhile and enjoyable. That's not true. Just being in the same room as him is fine.

Riku held out a hand, seeing that the remote was closer to Lightning. "Remote," he demanded softly. He was controlling the television this time around. She made him watch a movie last time, but they were watching sports today.
Lightning arched a brow at the demand, but she did as Riku requested. Sports, she assumed. She supposed that he could have chosen something worse. At least he hated chick flicks as much as she did. But of course, what sane guy would like chick flicks?

Riku turned the TV on and flipped it instantly to sports, realizing that it had been on the soap channel. He assumed once again that it was Serah who had been watching the TV last; he already knew Lightning hated chick flicks. He let his arm rest on the back of the couch as he instantly became consumed by the Blitzball tournament on the screen, focusing intently.

That Friday Evening

It had been short notice, but Serah was really excited when Noel invited her to go to a concert with him. It was mostly orchestra music, which he apparently wasn't a big fan of. But his family and Riku's were coming to this event together, and since Noel is friends with Serah and Riku with Lightning, somebody came up with the idea to invite the sisters. Serah wore a light purple dress that went to her knees, a black belt across the middle of it. It was dressier than Lightning's outfit, even if her sister did look nice. She wore black pants and a light blue blouse that complimented her eyes. She looked older than her seventeen years, but when didn't she? Serah glanced in the mirror one more time, wondering where Riku and Noel were. They were supposed to pick up her and Lightning.

Noel looked over at Riku, pulling at the sleeves of his grey dress shirt. "Riku, does this look right?" he asked, then glancing down at his outfit. He wore black pants and shoes, and the dress shirt because his mother told him to. He didn't know what to wear to these types of things, but he thought his mother dressed him like he was twelve. That was why he asked Riku's opinion. Noel wanted to look good for Serah, someone special to him.

Riku chuckled, placing a hand on Noel's shoulder as they left the elevator. "Noel, relax," he said. "You look fine." Riku wore a black dress shirt himself, though his sleeves were rolled up to just below his elbows. He felt it was less uncomfortable and less dressy that way; it wasn't like this was a date or anything....

Lightning sat on the couch in the living room, arms folded across her chest as she heard Serah rush into the room. "You left your bracelet in the kitchen," she reminded her. "Your one shoe is under the kitchen table and the other is right here." Again she heard Serah rushing, though it was in a new direction now. Jeez. She's acting like this is a date or something. It better not have been. Serah was too young to date.

Riku glanced over at Noel again when they were in front of the apartment door, and the younger boy nodded to him before Riku knocked on the door. He then put his hands in his pockets, waiting patiently. He thought he heard scrambling on the other side of the door, his trained ears picking up on it; he assumed it was Serah, since Lightning wasn't the high maintenance type.
"Oooo," Serah whined in a huff, coming over to the couch and slipping on the second shoe. She stepped over Lightning's feet and walked to the door, standing in front of it for one second to compose herself before she opened it. As soon as she did and saw who was on the other side, she smiled. "Noel. Riku." They both clean up really nicely. Especially Noel.

"Hi, Serah," Noel greeted with a smile, noticing Riku nod to the younger Farron out of the corner of his eye. He knew she was beautiful the moment he saw her, but this only further proved his point. "You look great!"

Riku fought the urge to smile, barely smirking instead. Noel had a crush on Serah, that much was obvious, but Riku wasn't going to pick on him for it...yet. The nineteen year old looked past Serah and into the apartment, seeing pink hair near the couch. He lifted an eyebrow slightly. Was Lightning coming?

"Thanks!" Serah blushed. She followed Riku's gaze to the couch, seeing Lightning rise up and walk over. She nearly laughed at something that happened earlier: Lightning complaining and walking around in that outfit like she was a man in a dress. But now her walk was different. She was still Lightning, but more graceful and light on her feet instead of stomping around in anger because she wasn't allowed to wear her normal outfit. Riku really does have a good influence on her.

Riku's eyebrow lowered as he gazed at Lightning, his eyes running over her outfit. That wasn't something he was expecting, but then again, what had he been? He nodded to her in greeting, his eyes finding hers. "No dress, I see," he said. He doubted she would wear one anyway.
"No tie, I see," Lightning said smoothly in return, standing behind Serah and to the side. She and Riku were both toned down compared to Serah and Noel, who couldn't stop looking at each other. But Riku did look good, even in that. He looked good in anything.

Riku shrugged, his hands still in his pockets. "Not my thing," he said, smirking slightly. Had he even worn a tie? Probably not. He threw a fit when he was younger, when his mother tried getting him to wear one. It just wasn't his style, much like dresses weren't Lightning's.
