Rude Awakening (1x1 with Peanut)

Posted

As some of you may know, Peanut and I are crazy about Roleplaying, and it's clear, since this is the second one on this site that belongs to us. And we aren't even done with the first one! Regardless, that won't stop us from starting this new roleplay, Rude Awakening!

Kinda dark and mysterious title, eh?

As stated in the title, this RP is one on one, no exceptions. Please refrain from posting in the RP. Instead, follow us on this new journey!

Peanut, my amazing friend, let's begin!

Namine looked up at Roxas once again, her eyes having been on her drawing when he stepped closer. Her gaze held curiosity, since she found it hard to believe that she and Roxas had somehow been thinking of the same thing. It was difficult to comprehend Roxas thinking of flowers anyway, but this? Namine wasn't sure what to say. "Um..." she said, shyly looking down at her drawing again. "I think it's safe to say that my sketches have gotten better since my Castle Oblivion and Twilight Town days." Their Twilight Town days, really, but she knew Roxas didn't like to think about back then.
Roxas chuckled faintly, surprising himself. Where did that come from? Nevertheless, he stood upright more and looked at Namine's face instead of the sketchpad. "I'd say so," he agreed. "Not that your drawings were that awful back then. They were just rushed." But this piece, no matter how long Namine did or didn't spend on it, didn't look rushed at all. It was a nice drawing.

"Mm," Namine hummed. "With good reason." She then lifted her eyes back to Roxas, seeing that he was looking at her as well. Back then, DiZ had pushed her to finish the process quickly, so he could get revenge on the Organization. She was a pawn in his game, but it worked out well in the end.
Roxas sensed that this conversation could head deeper into their past, which was the last thing that he wanted. He hated the past, and what it was trying to define for his future. As Sora's Nobody, it made sense that he would end up with Kairi's Nobody since the two of them were together. He didn't want to be governed by that though; he wanted to make his own choice. Still, he couldn't resist one comment to Namine, no matter how awkwardly it came out of his lips. "You should...keep drawing," he found himself saying. "You're really good."
  • Author
"Thank you," Namine replied. She found her faint smile returning. "You keep playing." His music was very nice, though she hadn't really expected such gentle music from Roxas. He had been so...tough lately, and distant--not only to her, but a lot of people, though he was obviously closest to Sora. It made sense, the two of them being one and the same. Regardless, he played beautifully, so music was definitely his forte.

"Uh, thanks," Roxas said, feeling a little shy that somebody actually liked his music. "I will." He nodded faintly automatically, still gripping the guitar case strap with one hand as the guitar was on his back. He would definitely keep playing, though today would be stuck in his mind for a while. His music was inspirational. How did that happen? And what did that mean for him and how he chose to share that music?

Namine's small smile remained, but after a moment of silence, she glanced down at her sketchpad. "I should finish my assignment," she said then, her voice quiet. She glanced up at Roxas shyly underneath her eyelashes. "Add some finishing touches and so on." She then lowered her gaze again, back to the lily. It wouldn't take long, of course; she knew what she was doing. But this gave Roxas an excuse to leave if he wanted to.
Roxas didn't know why, but at that moment, he was jealous that the lily was receiving more attention than he was. Since when did he care about getting Namine's attention? "Alright," he said, not showing any of that jealousy. "I guess I'll see you around." That seemed to be his cue to leave, so he'd take his exit. He started walking further down the hall, ready to go home.

Namine lifted a hand, even if Roxas couldn't see it. She watched him go for a moment, wondering what ever happened to the boy she met in Twilight Town. He had disappeared, but why? With college and work in the way, she knew she wouldn't have much time to dwell on it. Speaking of, Namine picked up her pencil again, returning to her drawing. Her blonde hair fell over her shoulder as she focused, wanting to get and keep her grades high this first semester. Hopefully nothing would get in the way of that.

Serah was so thrilled that by the end of her first week of school, she already made quite a few good friends. Everyone was so nice that they invited her to a get together at a boy named Noel's house. It was getting late now, but Serah had permission to stay until her sister Lightning was done with work and came to pick her up. Until then, it was just her and Noel. But Noel was a good guy, sweet and not being flirtatious at all. They were in the middle of playing Portal 2, a funny strategy game that Serah was doing absolutely terrible at. "I'm so lost!" she whined, though she laughed as she said it. She really wasn't that great at video games.

"That's okay," Noel said, smiling as he moved his character. "Here, I'll help you. See that red button to your left?" He lifted a hand and pointed at the television screen. "Go press that and I'll move us forward." He had to admit, he was happy such a pretty girl agreed to come over to his house. Most were too busy shopping or doing their nails to pay attention to guys, which he found ridiculous. Who cared that much about how they looked? Serah was different, though, which drew him in anyway.
"Okay," Serah agreed. She could do that. She tilted the joystick forward as her character moved, the red button right in sight. She saw a small gap that she needed to jump over to reach it, so she pressed the jump button before it. Or so she thought. "Oh no!" she squeaked. She pressed the wrong button, and now her character was plummeting to their death! She dropped the controller in her lap, lifting her hands to her face in embarrassment. Just as she did so, the doorbell rang. That was probably Lightning.

"Hey, it's cool," Noel said, reaching over and placing a hand on Serah's shoulder. He then looked behind them, toward the door. "One second, okay?" He then set his controller down and rose to his feet, hurrying toward the door. He opened it, smiling when he saw Serah's sister. "Oh, hey Lightning!" he greeted. Was she done with work already?
"Hi," Lightning greeted with a small nod. She was wearing a casual set of clothes now instead of her school uniform--brown pants stuffed into her knee-high boots and a white sleeveless white coat with a brown turtleneck underneath. Before she could even ask about Serah, she heard her sister's voice from the living room. She was laughing as she asked Lightning to come in and see what she just did in that video game. Are you making a fool out of yourself with games again, Serah? she thought, smiling faintly in amusement.

Noel turned his head at the laughter, and his eyes widened. "What'd you do?" he hollered in excitement, hurrying into the living room. He hauled himself over the couch and plopped down on the cushion, staring at the screen. Had Serah gotten them to the next level?

Serah was still laughing, but it wasn't because of Noel's misplaced optimism. "Look at my character!" she said through her laughter, glancing over her shoulder as Lightning came in and also observed the television screen. Her character was just floating there! It obviously wasn't supposed to happen, so that was what had Serah giggling.

"Glitch," Lightning muttered, though she was faintly amused by it as well. What game was this? She had never seen it before.

  • Author
"What?" Noel said, surprised. He picked up his controller and moved his character around, but it did nothing to bother Serah's character. "Portal 2 wasn't supposed to have any glitches... That's strange." He tilted his head, though he then looked over at the laughing girl beside him. "Hey, don't get too excited. This means we'll have to start over."

Serah still couldn't suppress the giggles, though she was dismayed at this news. "I quit!" she said through her laughter. She held out the cordless controller to her sister standing behind her. "Lightning, you do it." Her sister was great at video games! The expression she wore said that she didn't really want to, but Serah pleaded with her anyway. "Please!" Lightning was unable to resist the plea. She accepted the controller from Serah and humored her.

Noel smirked, turning his attention back to the screen. "Alright," he said in approval. Serah told him earlier Lightning was the better sister at video games, and right now, he had no choice but to take her word for it. He restarted the level, that way the glitch was removed.
Lightning sat down on the couch next to Serah, suspicious that her sister was in the middle next to Noel. Her sister was only fourteen; she didn't need a boyfriend. But she wouldn't ruin Serah's friendship because she was suspicious something more could have been going on. She and Noel made it through that level after some time, and then moved onto the next one that Noel had never beaten before. Now that Lightning understood the concept of the game, her logical mind really showed itself as she guided both of them through the puzzle.

Riku walked alongside Sora, listening to his friend tell one of his corny jokes that Kairi somehow found amusing. He rolled his eyes at the punchline, snickering nonetheless. He nudged his friend in the shoulder, urging him closer to his doorstep. Sora was here to pick up something from his mother, but Riku ended up tagging along. It was okay, though; his business for the day was done.
"Oh!" Sora remembered randomly. "Noel was supposed to have a bunch of friends over this afternoon after school. They should be gone by now though, so the xbox should be free. You in for a game while we're here?" He opened the door and stepped inside, expecting Riku to respond even as they walked in. But he already heard the xbox on, and Noel was playing the new Portal game. It sounded like he was doing co-op, too. Were his friends still over?

Riku stepped in after Sora, his eyebrow lifting at the sound of a familiar game. Noel had been playing it nonstop lately. "Sounds to me like we'll have to put that on hold," he stated, smirking. Noel was clearly still playing the xbox with his friends.
"Aw man!" Sora whined. The one time he came to his home and the xbox was taken. He was only here to get something from his mom, then he would go back to his apartment with Kairi. But he had been hoping that he and Riku could play a game like old times...He walked into the living room, and he did see that Noel wasn't alone. "Having fun, bro?" he asked, arching a brow in amusement. He was surprised the two girls were here to play games, but he instantly knew they must have been the two new girls. The school Noel went to was pretty small, so new people were pretty rare occurrences.

Noel glanced over his shoulder. "Oh, hey Sora," he greeted with a smile. He then nodded to the other guest. "What's up, Riku?" He returned his gaze to the screen, following Lightning's lead; she seemed to know what she was doing, even if this game was fairly new.

Riku jerked his chin to Noel in greeting, though his eyes were on the two pink-haired girls in the room. One of them he didn't recognize, but the other seemed familiar. Was that the girl who he argued with recently?
