Rude Awakening (1x1 with Peanut)

Posted

As some of you may know, Peanut and I are crazy about Roleplaying, and it's clear, since this is the second one on this site that belongs to us. And we aren't even done with the first one! Regardless, that won't stop us from starting this new roleplay, Rude Awakening!

Kinda dark and mysterious title, eh?

As stated in the title, this RP is one on one, no exceptions. Please refrain from posting in the RP. Instead, follow us on this new journey!

Peanut, my amazing friend, let's begin!

"Point being that your heart is a victim to the Darkness if you don't stop hiding behind your shell," Riku said, putting it bluntly. "Been there, and it nearly killed me. I doubt that's a fate you rea

A slight smile tugged at Lightning's lips as she nodded to him. She jerked her head towards the couch and started over, trusting he would follow. It didn't matter that he was still wet; it was just water, and they weren't sitting on a fancy couch here. It'd dry out eventually. Besides, she learned a long time ago that material possessions were nothing compared to other things.

Riku followed Lightning's lead, though he used one hand to set the towel down on the couch once he was there. He sat down on it, considerate enough of Lightning's things even in his fury. He wasn't even sure what to do now that he was here, actually. What did he say?
Lightning lifted her mug to her lips and took a sip, just staring at the blank TV. A flash of lightning appeared outside the window, but it didn't startle her. Just because the storm was raging didn't mean Lightning had to do the same. She was beginning to adopt her sister's patience when it came to other people. Specifically, the one person beside her. Riku would talk when he was ready.

Riku stared down at the mug in his hands, but he figured he needed to at least apologize. "...Sorry," he said lowly. "For dropping in like this." He knew that Lightning probably wasn't a fan of unwanted visitors. She seemed like the type to hate that kind of thing.
Lightning shrugged, realizing that Riku was a lot like her. He apologized whenever he was feeling down, too. "I've done worse things in our friendship," she said, looking over at him after she leaned forward on the couch. She had yelled at him before, and tried to push him away emotionally. This unexpected house call was nothing compared to any of that.

Riku simply looked at Lightning, not sure what to say to that. He didn't mind helping out with that though, with the problems Lightning faced beforehand. He just hoped she didn't feel uncomfortable because he dropped by. He was supposed to be strong and able to handle these types of things on his own. But today, it was different.
Lightning studied Riku, but only for a few seconds. That was long enough. She shifted her gaze to the window to her left. "Thunder storms are nice, huh?" she asked rhetorically. "In a place like this where it's always nice and sunny, a storm thrown in once in a while is sort of like some force releasing some unseen anger. It always seems more pleasant after a storm." Meaning, that Riku was normally okay, but it was alright that he had some anger today. He'd feel better after releasing it all, even if it was like a huge storm.

Riku glanced over at the window before his eyes found Lightning again, the young man lifting an eyebrow. "...Do I sense an analogy in there somewhere?" he asked out of curiosity. That seemed too cryptic for just talking. There was meaning behind that.

Lightning nodded faintly. "You do," she said, continuing to look out the window. "Since you sensed it, maybe you can tell me what it means." She already understood the meaning, obviously. But it was time now for Riku to figure it out, and apply it to himself if he wanted to. If not, then her house was still open to him.

Riku looked down at the mug in his hands. "...Being angry is okay," he said, applying it how he saw it. He guessed that was right, but he didn't want to get back to being angry all the time. He had that enough a few years ago.
Lightning nodded faintly once again. "Guess you have some brain along with that brawn," she joked, glancing over at him. Of course, she already suspected that Riku was intelligent, just because of how he was. He was organized to run the Guardian Corps after all, and he had the wisdom to handle her. Intelligence and wisdom often went together, but not always.

Riku couldn't help but smirk at that, glancing over at Lightning and making eye contact with her. "Some," he agreed with the smallest of nods. When girls looked at him, the first thing they saw was his physical features, and only knew that he was the Keyblade wielder. But...there was more to him than that. Lightning realized that, and that was what made her different than other girls. His parents never gave her the chance to prove that, though.
Lightning smirked faintly, encouraged that Riku could at least do that much when he was ticked off. He was better than she was, being able to find things humorous even in anger. She could learn a lot from him. "So what's your brain thinking?" she asked, turning the conversation a little more serious but still giving Riku the chance to back out of this. "Is this a storm--a time to unleash anger-- or is it something else?" She wasn't sure how far to take the analogy, but she'd roll with it if he did the same.

Riku looked away at that, smirk slowly fading. "...There's a valid reason for it this time," he admitted, referring to his anger. He wasn't angry for no reason; there wasn't any built up inside. He had an excuse to unleash the anger, and it was because of the people who caused it: his parents.
Lightning nodded, looking at the TV once again as her hands circled around the mug in her lap. "You seem to get angry for the right reasons at any time," she said, assuring him that she didn't think it was inappropriate. If Riku was angry, then he had a right to be angry. From what she could tell, he really wasn't an over dramatic person.

"Maybe," Riku said, lowering his cup from his lips after taking a small drink. But for some reason, this felt different. He hadn't ever been this furious with his parents before. He had stormed out of the house before, sure, but the discussion had never gotten so hurtful as it did today.
Lightning didn't bother responding to the comment, figuring that she didn't need to. At this point, the conversation was in Riku's hands. If he wanted to talk about what made him so angry, then he could do that. She'd stay here for a while. It wasn't as if she had any plans for the rest of the day except dwelling in the past.

Riku lifted a hand to ruffle his messy hair, not doing it much justice. "...My parents think you're a bad influence on me," he revealed, his voice tight as the anger returned. "What a joke." If anyone was a bad influence, it was Riku. He was the one who went through Darkness, after all. He was the worst of them all.
Lightning looked back over at Riku, surprised. This involved her? How did her parents come to the conclusion that she was a bad influence on him? They only met her last night. "...How am I a bad influence?" she asked, too stunned to let the silence linger and allow Riku to elaborate. What did she do wrong this time?

"They're convinced you have 'issues,'" Riku stated, lifting a hand to put in air quotes on the appropriate word. He rolled his eyes, looking over at the other side of the room. "Just because you walked out yesterday. I would have explained the situation, but it wasn't my place." So he didn't. But he didn't think it would have mattered anyway. His parents were judging Lightning too harshly. "So, they argued with me when I defended you, naturally."
Lightning was still stunned. She had "issues"? What did that even mean? "...Maybe you shouldn't have defended me," she said, looking down at her tea. "I do have issues." Granted, Riku's parents were wrong to judge her based on what happened last night, and to do it so harshly. But she wished she hadn't driven a wedge between Riku and his parents.

"Issues or not, they know I'll defend my friends," Riku replied, eyebrows furrowing. "They knew that, and yet they kept pushing it." They even said Lightning was traveling the road to Darkness, and that ticked Riku off more than anything.
Lightning took up silence again, lifting her tea to her lips. This was less centered around her now; it was more about Riku's parents pressing him when they knew that they shouldn't have. She would have been ticked off too if anybody ever treated her that way.

"Safe to say, today sucked," Riku said, taking another drink of his tea. The weather didn't help much, but it did fit the setting. He was upset, so a thunderstorm was nearly the perfect way to represent that. But...he still couldn't get over it... His parents thought he was going astray again.
"Sorry to hear that," Lightning said genuinely. "And sorry I played a part in it." She didn't like that Riku and his parents were arguing over her, but she had to say that even with her confidence level, she was on Riku's side. She had her issues, but she wasn't a bad influence on him. He seemed to enjoy his time with her enough; her depression wasn't contagious.
