Rude Awakening (1x1 with Peanut)

Posted

As some of you may know, Peanut and I are crazy about Roleplaying, and it's clear, since this is the second one on this site that belongs to us. And we aren't even done with the first one! Regardless, that won't stop us from starting this new roleplay, Rude Awakening!

Kinda dark and mysterious title, eh?

As stated in the title, this RP is one on one, no exceptions. Please refrain from posting in the RP. Instead, follow us on this new journey!

Peanut, my amazing friend, let's begin!

Namine saw Roxas depart, and she took that as her cue. Certainly she could sneak into the back and congratulate him on his performance, right? Well, it was worth a shot. The girl rose from her seat and started out of the hall, pushing the door open behind her as another musician took the stage. She rounded a corner and started in the direction she was sure Roxas would be in. It was time he understood how well he had done, and not by a bunch of over-friendly fans.
Roxas entered the back room, relieved beyond belief to be out of the spotlight. Yet even as the other performers congratulated him, he felt as if he were in a daze. Did that seriously just happen? He did play the song perfectly and all, but nobody got the response that he had received. Was he really that good?

Namine passed a few musicians on her way toward the stage doors, nodding to them as they gazed at her. She wasn't sure what the looks on their faces were for, but she was flattered by them nonetheless. Clearly they had never seen a girl before; were they too wrapped up in their music to notice the opposite sex? Regardless, Namine saw a sign on the door that read "Backstage" and she opened it wordlessly, peeking in. Where was Roxas?
Roxas rubbed the back of his head sheepishly, chuckling at a joke somebody made about the screaming girls. "Yeah, I can't believe it," he agreed absently. He had girls cheering for him? And pretty girls at that. He heard the announcement from the stage after the last performer, saying that it was all over now. He wondered what happened to all the girls. But he didn't have to ponder it for long. He glanced towards the door and saw some of the girls there, behind Namine. He took it all in at once, blinking in surprise at their giggling.

Namine saw that Roxas's gaze wasn't resting on her, which made her small smile at finding him disappear. She looked behind her at the giggling, and that was when she forced to step aside. The girls suddenly rushed in, screaming Roxas's name. There weren't too many of them, but there were enough of them.
"Whoa!" Roxas cried automatically, suddenly finding himself standing apart from the rest of the musicians and surrounded by some of the fan-girls. He heard the compliments gushing from their mouths, and he felt overwhelmed right away. He never received attention from one girl before, let alone six at once. He blushed at it all, stuttering his thanks whenever he could actually get a word in. They were all nice...and beautiful, he couldn't help but notice.

Namine stood where she was, watching the girls surround Roxas and gush to him about his performance. She had wanted to do that, but on a more personal level. I guess...it'll have to wait, she realized, tucking some hair behind her ear as she turned to leave. She nearly collided with another musician, smiling weakly in apology. "Excuse me," she muttered, stepping past the boy and making her way down the hall. It was time she went back home, and focused on her studies. She had done enough focusing on Roxas's.

Roxas was swamped with the girls for a little while, and all of them basically threw their phone numbers at him. That certainly wasn't what he expected to get out of today. But by the time all the girls left, Roxas realized that Namine was long gone. Was he disappointed? No; he was too happy to be feeling anything negative tonight. He was on top of the world as he headed home with more confidence than he ever had before.

Thanksgiving

Riku watched as Kairi and Namine took care of getting the food all prepared. He made the turkey, but they put the finishing touches on it. He leaned against the counter as the girls did their thing, realizing that they were much better in his kitchen than he was. Everyone was at his place this year, even his parents. It had been an awkward phone call to the say the least, but he did it; the holiday was meant to be spent with family, so he wanted them there, despite their differences recently.

"So, what are we going to order when the turkey's no good?" Sora asked, jokingly smirking at Riku. He knew his best friend made the Turkey, and he didn't believe Riku was a good cook. Granted, his friend wasn't bad in the kitchen. He was living on his own after all, so of course he knew a little bit about cooking. Sora just liked teasing him about it.

Riku looked over this shoulder at Sora, lifting an eyebrow. He knew that was a jab he was meant to hear, and he only rolled his eyes before looking at the girls again. The turkey would be the best part of the meal, or so he hoped. When Sora stuffed his face, Riku would be saying "I told you so."

Locke chuckled a little, unable to help himself. Being around Sora always did make him feel a little lighter. But Riku was taking a leap at cooking the turkey, one of the most essential parts of the meal. Hopefully his son didn't screw up. On top of everything else...

"Wow, no scolding?" Roxas asked after a moment of silence. He glanced over at Sora, surprised. "It's your lucky day." His other half chuckled at the comment. The blond was sounding more like Sora these days with how relaxed he was, but that was perfectly alright with him. He was much more confident in himself after the recital, and the three dates that he had in the past week or two. He was finally his own person. As this conversation went on, he heard the knock on the front door.

Locke turned his head at the knock on the door, looking from there to his son, who had moved to get the door. "I'll get it, son," he said, rising from one of the few couches in the room. He was happy his son was well off, though he wished it happened under better circumstances; getting the money from his travels in Darkness wasn't okay with Locke, but it was something he had to deal with, as well as Celes. He approached the door and opened it, though the people he saw were who he thought he wouldn't see again.

Serah stood in front of the door, with Lightning slightly behind her. The latter was only surprised that Locke answered the door; Riku had warned her that his father was going to be here. But Serah only smiled at the man, unaware of the unspoken tension between Lightning and the man. "Hello again," she said with a polite nod. "It's nice to see you again." Behind her, Lightning nodded faintly out of politeness as well. She was going to try and get on the man's good side.

Locke smiled slightly, nodding. "You as well," he said. "Come in." He backed away and brought the door with him, though his eyes moved from the youngest sibling to the oldest. His son had forgotten to tell him that there were two more guests arriving.

"Thanks," Lightning said along with Serah, glancing at the man and seeing what Serah didn't as they passed. Tension. Loads of it. She gazed at him for a second longer than she should have before her eyes found everyone else, including Riku's mother, Celes. She looked surprised too, if not a bit dismayed. Glad to know we're welcome here. Not.

Riku leaned away from the counter when he saw who was here, and he briefly glared at his father for his obvious stare towards Lightning. "Hey guys," he said, walking into the living room to greet the two girls. "Thanks for coming." He invited them a few days ago, considering they would have been alone today. To him, that didn't sit well, which was why they were both here. With him, and his family.

"Thanks for inviting us," Serah said with a smile, nodding to Riku in appreciation. She knew what this day would have held if it had just been her and Lightning. This was much better--spending time with her new friends. She glanced past Riku and saw Noel, so she started over towards him as Lightning stopped by Riku.

"Yeah," Lightning agreed with a small nod. "Thanks." She stood a little closer to Riku, not meaning to give his parents the impression that they were together. She just didn't want them overhearing the question she spoke softly to him. "Are you sure this is a good idea?"

Locke took his seat beside his wife once more, though his eyes never left his son. Lightning stood awfully close to Riku, when the last time Locke spoke to his son, Riku said they were just friends, not romantically involved. The body language said otherwise, especially when his son reacted positively to it.

Riku leaned down a little to speak to Lightning only, a light smirk on his lips. "Don't worry about them," he told her gently. His parents would get over the fact that she was here. "This is your chance." Her chance to prove them wrong about her. Lightning could show them who she truly was, and not a bad influence like they thought she was.

Lightning nodded faintly. "If you're sure," she said softly. She herself wasn't positive about it. She had told Riku before that in this friendship of theirs, she didn't have much to offer him. She wasn't used to having friends in the first place. Hopefully she wouldn't let him down today. She heard the doorbell again and heard Sora go answer it and let his parents in. Hopefully they would talk to Riku's parents for a while and buy her some time so she could figure out how to get on their good side.

Riku lifted a hand, setting it on Lightning's shoulder. "I am," he said, looking her in the eye. She would be fine, he was sure of it. But until then... "Go ahead and make yourself at home." He squeezed her shoulder gently before making his way toward Sora's parents to say hello. His apartment was rather large for just one person, but it was home. Lightning was welcome to take a look around.
Lightning headed over towards Noel and Serah, meaning to join in and possibly break up whatever conversation they were having. She didn't like that the two of them were so mushy with each other at the age of fourteen. They weren't even a couple. Lightning wasn't allowing Serah to date until she was sixteen; surely Noel knew that. He should have backed off a bit. But...Lightning wasn't too harsh on them. It was nice that Serah had somebody care about her that way.

Kairi took the pleasure of saying grace for the large group, and once it was done, she announced that everyone could dig in. The turkey was already cut, so people could go ahead and grab the slices. She went for the potatoes herself, though her eyes danced around the people at the table with her. She sat next to her husband on one side, and on her other side was Sora's mother. But what really interested her was the fact that Riku sat beside Lightning and her sister. Kairi kept it to herself, but she was pretty sure there was chemistry between Riku and Lightning. She wouldn't call it out yet, but she had her hunches.

Celes smiled proudly at her son, choosing to not glare at Lightning beside Riku. She was better than Locke at putting on a polite expression. "You did good, Riku," she complimented after having a few bites of food. She hadn't been expecting his cooking skills to be up to this caliber. She hoped Riku realized that she was proud of him for who he was...just scared of what he could become again.

"Thanks, Mom," Riku replied with a small nod, still putting food on his plate. He glanced over at his father, who was nodding in agreement to his wife. It was like they were surprised, and that only made him want to roll his eyes. Man, so many people have faith in my cooking, he thought. Regardless, he was pleased that Sora would eat his words tonight, literally.
