Rude Awakening (1x1 with Peanut)

Posted

As some of you may know, Peanut and I are crazy about Roleplaying, and it's clear, since this is the second one on this site that belongs to us. And we aren't even done with the first one! Regardless, that won't stop us from starting this new roleplay, Rude Awakening!

Kinda dark and mysterious title, eh?

As stated in the title, this RP is one on one, no exceptions. Please refrain from posting in the RP. Instead, follow us on this new journey!

Peanut, my amazing friend, let's begin!

Once the door was shut, Lightning scoffed and stared at the ground. What a jerk. Couldn't she have just one day of peace around here? Apparently not. She was starting to wonder if she was a really horrible person and deserved all this, because there were few other explanations to explain all the horrible things in her life.

Riku locked the door and turned to Lightning, gazing at her in silence for a moment. But upon seeing her expression, he tried to offer encouragement. "Don't worry," he told her gently. "He can't make you do anything." And if he came back, he'd have to deal with Riku.
Lightning looked up at Riku and nodded. "I know," she said, hands lowering to her sides. "It just ticks me off that I'm back less than twenty-four hours and I'm being harassed about the situation." She actually was pretty angry at it, now that she let it settle in. She was angry about everything and needed an outlet. Not a verbal one. She felt like punching something.

Riku ran a hand through his shorter hair, unsure of what to say to that. It was unfortunate that the kook knew where he lived, and that Lightning was staying here. Clearly he got some connections and tracked both of them here. Naturally, a bad vibe came from this, and Riku didn't like it.
"I think I decided what I want to do for the day," Lightning declared after a few moments. She glanced over at Riku. "Can I use the gym?" It would be good to get some stress out on a punching bag or something. Plus, working out always helped her think better. Maybe she could piece together what exactly she wanted for the future.

Riku lowered his hand, nodding. "Yeah," he said. He had to get to work, so he couldn't go with. But he trusted Lightning to at least lock the place up when she was finished. He turned and started toward one of the counters, where he kept his keys. He would give her the one to the gym.
Lightning followed Riku with her eyes for a few moments, but then looked back towards the door. There was a small piece of paper slipped underneath it. She bent down and picked it up, though she recognized what it was before she was even upright again. Cecil had been kind enough to slip in a business card in case she changed her mind.

Riku detached the gym key from his bike keys. He looked over at Lightning from where he stood and furrowed his eyebrows, seeing that she was looking at something. He approached her, standing slightly behind her to look over her shoulder. Once he saw the name, he smirked. "Hmph," he grunted softly. Should've known.
Lightning heard Riku's grunt of disgust, and she agreed. This was ridiculous. "Whatever," she muttered, slipping it into her pocket because there weren't any trash cans nearby. She'd discard it later. All that she could do now was hope that Cecil wasn't waiting for them to open the door. If he was, he'd have serious problems with Riku.

Riku changed the subject, lifting his hand and holding out the key over Lightning's shoulder since he was so close. "Here," he said softly. "It's the key to the gym." He trusted her to lock it up and make sure everything was in the correct order before she left.
"You can skip the rest of the lecture," Lightning said after she nodded and took the key. "I won't talk to strangers and the party won't be any bigger than fifty people." Of course she was just joking, even if her tone was the same as it always was--calm. Besides, who would she even invite to a party? It wasn't as if she had any friends other than Riku and his group.

Riku's smirk returned as he released another small "hmph." He lifted his hand and tapped under Lightning's chin with his finger. "Funny," he told her quietly, though it was clear that he was being sarcastic. But he knew she wouldn't do anything to the gym; she was better than that.
Though Lightning got a lot of feelings at the simple gesture, she kept them to herself. She arched a brow and continued the conversation. "I make one joke and you put it down? Ouch. Remind me not to joke around you again." She never really made jokes; she was a serious person. In fact, she didn't know where that joke came from just now. Did Riku really help her feel that much lighthearted?

Riku chuckled a little and nodded. "Noted," he said. He gazed at Lightning a little longer before he turned around, starting back toward the hall. He had to get ready for work. He was sure Lightning would be here by the time he got back.
Lightning watched Riku go for a few moments, but then she decided it was time to leave. She grabbed her coat from next to the door and walked out into the hallway. Thankfully, Cecil Zimmerman was gone. He'd probably be back sooner rather than later. With that in mind, she shut the door behind her and headed down the hall. It was time to work out some frustration.

Namine left the music hall just after her friend's performance, knowing that she had to make it back there fast in order to beat the other girls. Roxas had yet another recital, though this one was much smaller than the last. Regardless, she walked by a few other musicians, one of which tossed a wolf-whistle her way. She made a face of disgust, hating to be degraded in such a way, before she opened the backstage door. "...Roxas?"
Roxas lowered the hand-towel that he used to wipe away some of his sweat, the blond leaning forward on a seat and facing the door. He may have come across as confident on the stage, but he had still been a bit nervous. He was surprised when somebody called his name, though. Already? Didn't expect the girls to come back so quick. But it was only one girl--Namine. "Hey, Namine," he greeted with a small nod and a wave.

Namine smiled, shutting the door behind her. Wow, you actually see me this time, she thought, though bitterly. Last time, Roxas hadn't even made eye contact with her, since the other girls were all he could stare at. For a reason unknown to her, it made her angry. She pushed past it, though. "Hey," she greeted softly, starting toward her friend.
As Namine came towards him, Roxas glanced back to see the door open. Of course there were a ton of girls there. How Namine had beaten the rush, he didn't know. But maybe it wasn't good she did, because now she was going to be trampled. He rose to his feet in preparation, but the girls didn't come at him. Instead, one screamed "There he is!" and ran over to a guy on the opposite side of the room. Roxas blinked in surprise, seeing one of his classmates get flooded with the girls that had followed Roxas around for so long. Wait...what? I thought they were my fans!

Namine stepped out of the way slightly, though she did jump at the sudden scream. She watched the girls run to the other boy, and while he was attractive, she didn't think he did better than Roxas. But, it wasn't like her opinion would really matter to those girls in the first place.
Roxas realized something in that instant: those girls had never been loyal to him. They followed him around because of how "cute" he was at the first performance, with his sheepish smile when he was done and how he was rubbing his hair. He was more confident today, but he was old news now. "...I guess my fifteen minutes of fame are up," he said quietly, watching those girls and the guy singer they were gushing over.

Namine turned her head to look at Roxas, her eyebrows furrowing slightly. "Fame isn't everything," she tried to reason. Roxas had to have known that. He created music because he loved it, not for the fame. She hoped his "fifteen minutes" weren't the reason he performed.
Roxas registered Namine's words and laughed. Not out of humor, but agreement. "Fame is fickle," he said, leaning back in his chair and still watching those girls. "...But I can't disregard the lessons that it taught me." He learned a lot recently, and though his pride was hurt right now, he still realized that some good came out of this.

"I guess that's one way of looking at it," Namine agreed, approaching her friend once more. She had stopped out of fright before, but the girls were on the other side of the room; she had no reason to worry about being trampled.
Roxas looked over at Namine, deciding those girls weren't worth his attention any more. "At least I feel confident in my music now," he said with a weak smile. They had such an enthusiastic response to his music before, and to him. Yeah, he was pushed off to the side for now, but he still felt like he was something more than just Sora's Nobody. He was Roxas, and he was a good musician.
