Rude Awakening (1x1 with Peanut)

Posted

As some of you may know, Peanut and I are crazy about Roleplaying, and it's clear, since this is the second one on this site that belongs to us. And we aren't even done with the first one! Regardless, that won't stop us from starting this new roleplay, Rude Awakening!

Kinda dark and mysterious title, eh?

As stated in the title, this RP is one on one, no exceptions. Please refrain from posting in the RP. Instead, follow us on this new journey!

Peanut, my amazing friend, let's begin!

"You should," Namine agreed, stopping and standing a few feet from her friend. "You were great." His voice always gave her chills; it was odd. Nobody else's could do that. The guy that the girls were going gaga over, his voice was good, and it made her smile. But it didn't have the same effect that Roxas's did.
Roxas's small smile grew a little bit as he nodded to Namine's thanks. Namine. He had something else to say to her. "But I think there's a lesson even more important," he said. He glanced down at his lap as he spoke, confident in what he was saying but shy about it. "Groupies only stick around so long, but friends are the ones that are there when nobody else is." He looked up at Namine, smiling apologetically. "Sorry I got wrapped up in the fame. I was stupid." He should have realized all along what was really important, and that was friendship.

Namine smiled a little, glancing away as she nodded. She accepted his apology, and forgave him. Roxas didn't really know any better, since everything was so new. But then again, she guessed this was karma. She did insult him to a rather large degree. This was just destiny's way of throwing it back in her face.
Roxas glanced over at the girls once again, then chuckled slightly. It was ridiculous how easily they were swayed. "Let's go get some pizza," he said to Namine as he rose to his feet. "My treat." It was the least he could do to make up for how he tuned her out lately. Man, was he an idiot for that.

Namine's blue eyes locked onto Roxas's, her smile remaining. "What a gentleman you are," she cooed jokingly. She had never expected the offer, but she wouldn't refuse. She had skipped dinner at her place to come watch Roxas, even if he hadn't been expecting her.
"About time I did something decent," Roxas joked lightly. His guitar was in the case right next to him, so he picked it up and put it on his back. That was what he played for the recital tonight, after all. He'd just keep it with him till he went home. "C'mon." He started towards the exit, trusting not only that Namine would follow, but that they would also have a better night alone than he would have with ten of those other girls.

"Heh," Namine laughed softly, turning to follow Roxas out. Well, this hadn't been what she expected at all. She had planned on stopping by to congratulate him and then go back home, but...this was a nice change, for once. She was looking forward to it.

The Next Day

Riku had off work, so he did what he normally did on his off days: train the GC. Lightning was working out in the gym with them, because Riku told her that she wouldn't be allowed to use the gym again this week if she went out job searching while living with him. So, she supposed she was stuck for now, not that she minded working out today. Yesterday's work out definitely helped her get out some frustration. Little did she know that more frustration was coming her way.

Riku was helping one of the newest recruits lift, spotting him as he worked out. He watched him carefully to make sure he didn't hurt himself, of course, wanting his recruits to get strong for the day when they were needed most. Of course, Lightning wasn't here as a recruit, though he had intended for her to be one in the past. Regardless, she was here, and that was better than going off and searching for a job. Riku helped the newest recruit put the bar back on the rack, allowing him to stand up and clapping him on the shoulder. "Good job, buddy. Take five." The guy worked hard enough already, and he'd only been here for an hour.
Lightning was practicing kick-boxing with another guy who was a trainee, and though he had been on the offensive earlier, now it was Lightning's turn. She jabbed one fist and then another at his hands, which he blocked with his own special gloves. Defense was the easy part of this though. This had been going on for five to ten minutes and she felt her punches coming slower. Not working out for a while put her out of practice.

Riku looked around the gym, seeing that everyone was keeping themselves busy. Others, on the other hand, needed a break. "Light," Riku called, seeing that she wasn't moving as quickly as she had been. "Take a breather, would you? Can't have you collapsing on me." He smirked slightly as he looked at her, seeing that the trainee had stopped when Lightning's name had been called. He could take a break too, of course.
Lightning lowered her gloved fists in front of her, turning to face Riku. She rolled her eyes at the implication that she would collapse. "I'm not that out of shape," she said. "But fine." She'd take a breather. The air in the gym was getting a little stuffy and the weather outside wasn't bad, so she'd step outside for some fresh air after she got her gloves off.

Riku's smirk remained as he crossed the space between him and Lightning, which was only a few yards. He stopped in front of her, dismissing the trainee who had been helping her with a small nod. He then lifted his hands, gently taking Lightning's into his grasp. He held her wrist lightly as he started to undo her gloves, glancing up at her as he did so.

Lightning glanced down at her gloves, seeing Riku undo the lacing. She tried taking off these types of gloves on her own before, and it wasn't easy. Riku must have known that, since he worked in a gym. Somebody normally did have to untie other people's gloves. But was this only done out of courtesy, or something more? You really gotta stop over-analyzing everything.

Riku took off one of Lightning's gloves after a moment, stuffing it under his arm as he got to work on the other. He did it in silence, thinking to himself about how lonely he was actually going to be when Lightning moved in with his parents. Not only was it weird that they were taking her in, but it was unexpected after what happened in the past. Regardless, he knew that the place would feel kind of empty once she was gone, which wasn't normal for Riku. What is this girl doing to me?
Once Riku was done with both gloves, Lightning nodded her thanks to him. "You should get some fresh air soon," she advised him. "It's stuffy in here." But it was hard to keep the windows open at this time of year, so it was understandable. Stepping outside for a moment, even in the cold, was going to be worth that fresh air.

"Will do, captain," Riku said with a mock salute. He gave Lightning a look out of taunt before moving to put the gloves away. While she went to get fresh air, he would keep things running in here. It was one of his jobs, after all.

Lightning's lips turned up in a slight smirk as she headed towards the door. She grabbed a bottle of water in one hand and her coat in the other, knowing that the cold air wouldn't be refreshing for too long. She stepped outside and shut the door behind her, only making it down a small set of stairs before a group of people appeared out of nowhere with cameras and journals.

"Miss Farron" said one of the many reporters ambushing the surprised teenager. "How are you coping with life now that you're out of the Yedon household?"

"Why are you living with Riku?"

"Were you abused?"

"Whoa! Where did all the cameras come from?"

"Let me see!"

Riku turned at the cries, his eyebrows furrowing. Cameras? He set the gloves down, having not even put them away yet when he saw cameras flashing and heard a dull roar of voices. What the...? Riku approached the door in curiosity, wanting to know what was happening immediately, and why so many cameras were going off outside his gym. He pushed the door open, lifting an arm instantly at the bright flashes of light. What was going on?

Lightning glanced back at Riku and the other boys who entered the doorway. She was stunned as the reporters kept on firing off more and more questions, about why Riku took her in, if they were in a relationship, and if Riku planned to get revenge for what Zane's family did to Lightning. "Riku?" she cried in uncertainty. Where did these reporters come from, and how did they know so much about their situation? Unlike Riku, she never dealt with the press before.

Riku fought the urge to roll his eyes when he recognized that it was the press. He descended the steps quickly and went to Lightning's side, though he noticed that a lot of the reporters were yelling questions out at him now. "Ignore them," he told Lightning lowly in her ear, placing his hands on her back and shoulder as he moved to turn her around. "Get back inside." He would try to get the press out of here in the meantime.
Light nodded faintly, turning around and starting back up at the stairs. The questions were really personal now, and she knew the cameras were going off when Riku put his hands on her to guide her back inside. She heard some question about fanfiction (whatever the heck that was) before she went back inside and away from the windows. How was this happening? And why? Since when was she a celebrity?

Later that evening

Riku stood in the living room, staring at the floor as he pondered today's events. He tried getting rid of the press earlier that day, and they left for a while, but the second he stepped outside with Lightning, they were on them like hounds. He didn't understand what they wanted until he heard the Yedons' name in a question, and then it all made perfect sense. Someone tipped them off to what happened in Bodhum, and he knew his parents wouldn't do such a thing. Lightning never wanted to speak of it again, and Riku didn't even think about the option. It only left one person, and that was Cecil Zimmerman, Lightning's "lawyer." Whatever that meant.

Lightning laid on her back on the couch, staring upward at the ceiling. Today was ridiculous. The press just wouldn't leave her alone. They wanted to know about what happened with Zane's family, but Lightning wasn't about to tell them anything. They were just going to keep pestering her though, weren't they? How was she supposed to get rid of them, and keep her sanity until she did? She nearly groaned in frustration. The pressure was becoming overwhelming quickly.

There was a knock at the door that snapped Riku out of his thoughts, and he lifted his head to look in that direction. He sighed, hoping that it wasn't some photographer wanting a few pictures. Riku dealt enough with the press in the past, when they found out he saved the world with Sora. But that time had come and gone. Riku opened the door, though his eyes instantly hardened at the person before him. "What do you want?" he snapped.

Cecil smiled despite the negative greeting. "Hello, Riku," he said, looking past the young man to see the girl he was looking for originally. "Miss Farron." He had some things to discuss with her.
