Rude Awakening (1x1 with Peanut)

Posted

As some of you may know, Peanut and I are crazy about Roleplaying, and it's clear, since this is the second one on this site that belongs to us. And we aren't even done with the first one! Regardless, that won't stop us from starting this new roleplay, Rude Awakening!

Kinda dark and mysterious title, eh?

As stated in the title, this RP is one on one, no exceptions. Please refrain from posting in the RP. Instead, follow us on this new journey!

Peanut, my amazing friend, let's begin!

"Okay," Sora said with a small nod, starting back towards the entrance. "Kairi, come with me," he said as he passed his wife. It would look less suspicious that way--like Riku told Sora to take Kairi away from the press. It made sense; Riku was nearly as protective of Kairi as Sora was.

Kairi followed Sora without another word, stepping past Riku and out of sight of the cameras. She went back into the building with her husband in silence, relieved to get some space when they were in the lobby. How could Riku handle that? And Lightning too? Sora and Riku had their days a while ago, but Riku had to deal with it again. That had to have been annoying.
Lightning hadn't plucked up the courage to start the motorcycle in time. The reporter had come down the alley and cornered her before she could leave. While he asked all types of questions about her time with the Yedons, she just glared at him. She wasn't going to make her escape now, that was for sure. All because of this idiot.

"What makes you so special to Mr. Cole?" The reporter took another shot, since he had trapped the girl on the motorcycle. "Is that his motorcycle? Why is he letting you take it?" He moved to another angle, getting a better shot. "I have a daughter, Miss Farron, who's had a crush on Riku for years. Why is he giving you the time of day and not any other girl who has tried to catch his attention?"

Lightning furrowed her eyebrows, gripping the handlebar of the motorcycle with one hand. "Take it up with him," she finally said. "Now move, before I run you over." It was an empty threat; she wouldn't dare start the motorcycle with somebody so close. She could accidentally run him over, and the last thing she wanted was to go back to court for attacking a reporter.

"Is it your aggressive attitude?" the reporter asked. He zoomed in with his camera, getting Lightning's facial expression with a clear shot. "Is that what makes you and Riku so compatible? The Keyblade wielder who fell to Darkness falls for the girl with a tough exterior. It makes sense, doesn't it?"

"I see you've made a friend," Sora said, furrowing his eyebrows as he approached Lightning and the reporter. He may have been lighthearted before, but he was protective of his friends as well. He wouldn't stand by and let Lightning be abused by anyone. "If you don't mind," he said to the reporter once he was right there. With supernatural speed, he took the camera out of the man's hands and threw it against a brick wall. That took care of that.

The reporter gasped, his eyes widening as he saw his expensive camera crash to the concrete. He looked to Sora, glaring. "You'll pay for that!" he cried. Behind him, he could see that the Keyblade wielder's wife was clearly stunned by her husband's action. Sora was going to be fined for destroying his property.

Sora shrugged casually, motioning for Lightning to get off the bike. "I'll give you money for a new camera when you promise to leave my friends alone," he declared as he saw Lightning follow his instruction. He wasn't sure if they could get out of here; if Riku didn't keep the reporters up front distracted too long, then Lightning would be followed for sure.

Kairi watched the reporter storm off, leaving the alley. But that was when she thought of something. "Wait," she said to her husband. "What if he tells the others Lightning's back here?" Then they would block them in. Lightning had to leave, and quickly.
Sora looked to Lightning. "Are you comfortable speeding out of here?" he asked her, recieving a shake of the head. He looked for a second helmet, but when he realized there wasn't one, he frowned. If somebody saw him on Riku's bike with Lightning, they'd chase him because they could see his face. It'd be too weird if Sora and Kairi took a joyride at a time like this. "Maybe we should just go get Riku," Sora declared, turning to Kairi. "He can speed ahead with Lightning and get away before the press can catch up." Sora knew how to ride motorcycle, but not like Riku.

Kairi nodded a little, taking a step back. "I'll go get him," she said, approaching the door. It would only take a second. He would be here in a hurry if he knew something was up. By the murmurs she could hear even from the back of the building, Riku was still stuck out front. This would be an easy task...maybe.
Sora watched Kairi go, but then looked at Lightning. Because of the stress, she wasn't so great at hiding her emotions. She looked defeated. "Nothing to be ashamed of," he said, referring to not being comfortable with the bike. "Better safe than sorry." She nodded and put on the helmet, but Sora wasn't as ignorant as he used to be; he knew she was hiding herself from him. He frowned and put a hand on her shoulder, but otherwise looked towards the building and hoped Riku would be back quickly.

Kairi jogged through the lobby and to the entrance, and the camera flashes gave away the fact that Riku hadn't gotten away so easily. She pushed the door open. "Riku!" she hollered over the voices. He turned around instantly, and upon seeing her wave him over and go back inside, he followed.

Riku glanced at Roxas and Namine, but he figured that once he was inside, they could make their escape from the press. He went inside, hurrying so the press wouldn't be right on his tail. "Kairi, what's going on?" he called, jogging to catch up with her.

"We need you to get Lightning out of here," Kairi called over her shoulder, already near the back. "C'mon, hurry!" The press would figure out what was going on in a second, so they didn't have much time. She faced forward again when Riku was nearly right behind her, pushing the back exit door open. She got out of the way as Riku came through, seeing the situation. He didn't comment, though, simply moving toward the bike.

Sora kept his hand on Lightning's shoulder for a few seconds, and then removed it. "A reporter had her cornered back here," he said bitterly. "She wasn't comfortable starting the bike with him so close. I chased him off, but he'll be back with the other reporters if you two don't get out of here right away." That was as simple as he could put things.

Riku nodded, approaching the bike as he passed Sora up. "Thanks, guys," he said, both to Sora and Kairi. He was grateful they helped Lightning out. Clearly Kairi's plan hadn't worked out so well. He threw a leg over the bike and climbed on, starting it since the keys were already in the ignition. Whenever Lightning was ready.
Lightning swung a leg over the bike again and got a secure hold on Riku with her arms around him. Now wasn't the time for shyness, and besides, there wasn't much to be shy about at this point. He had held her on the plane after all, and carried her to bed when he thought she was asleep. Clearly things like this fit under the category of "normal" for them, sort of.

Riku glanced over his shoulder at Sora and Kairi nodding to them. "I'll see you guys later," he said. He wouldn't stick around for Lightning and Serah's meeting, since it was probably meant to be private. He caught Kairi's smile and glanced at Lightning before facing forward, revving his engine when he thought he saw flashing lights. The press. Riku took his foot off the concrete as the bike moved forward quickly, and he was glad Lightning was holding on tightly; she would need to.
Lightning saw the lights up ahead and knew the truth. "It's too late, Riku!" she said over the engine. How did he plan on breaking through the line that was already forming? He might hit somebody, and that wasn't what they needed right now. She was already wondering how much trouble Sora was in for breaking that camera. What caused him to do that, anyway? She had never seen him so serious before--so...protective.

"No it's not!" Riku called, holding out one of his hands for the Keyblade. It materialized in his hand and he used his magical ability to create wind, sending it at the photographers. He heard various cries in surprise as they were forced away, giving him a clear path. Riku switched his hold on the Keyblade so he could steer the bike, flying around the corner and nearly colliding with some cars. But he was quick, and he avoided them narrowly with his reflexes. Regardless, he sped off, the engine kicking into high gear as he flew down the road.
Lightning had a really tight hold on Riku throughout that whole thing, feeling scared even if she had been assured many times that Riku would never allow her to get hurt. Even as they sped away from the reporters, she kept her arms around him. You're insane! she wanted to cry, but her voice was gone. She didn't know how he did that, but it was still a reckless and crazy move.

Riku went to the next stoplight, and noticing it was green, took advantage of it. He dismissed his Keyblade and took a turn, disappearing from the press's sight. Glad that's over, he thought, feeling the wind whip his hair as he drove down the street. Once he was a little farther away, he would slow down.
After a few seconds, Lightning felt a little more composed. Only a little. Her heart was still racing and breathing harder from nerves. She grunted to her emotions and the situation, leaning her forehead against Riku and shutting her eyes. She didn't know how much of this she could take. Not riding the bike with Riku--being harassed by the press.

Riku slowed his motorcycle down to the speed limit after taking another turn, sure he was far enough away from the press now. He sighed, stopping at a stoplight a few feet ahead. He looked over his shoulder at the girl behind him, seeing and feeling her new position. "You alright, Light?" he called over the purr of the engine. He hoped he hadn't scared her with his daring move back there. It wasn't exactly subtle.
"Mm-hm," Lightning hummed weakly, nodding her head in the same manner. She was "alright", whatever that meant to her anymore. She wasn't "good", but she was alive, breathing, and away from the press, so she supposed that she was okay. She just wished that things didn't have to be like this. She wished things could be pleasant for once.
