Rude Awakening (1x1 with Peanut)

Posted

As some of you may know, Peanut and I are crazy about Roleplaying, and it's clear, since this is the second one on this site that belongs to us. And we aren't even done with the first one! Regardless, that won't stop us from starting this new roleplay, Rude Awakening!

Kinda dark and mysterious title, eh?

As stated in the title, this RP is one on one, no exceptions. Please refrain from posting in the RP. Instead, follow us on this new journey!

Peanut, my amazing friend, let's begin!

Serah hugged Lightning, and she gave her sister a light hug in return before she walked out to Riku. Serah stood in the doorway to say goodbye just with her presence, like Lightning did earlier when she watched Riku drive off on his motorcycle. They were definitely sisters. The eldest girl approached Riku, immediately noticing the spare helmet. Since when did he have two?

Riku held one hand out to Lightning, the helmet in his grasp as he held it out for her to take. He bought that specifically for her, since they couldn't keep trading off his own; besides, his was too big for her anyway. Riku saw someone standing in the door and looked in that direction, spotting Serah. He lifted his free hand in a light wave in greeting, though he was also translating a silent message: I'll take care of things from here. He would help stall Lightning's decisions with Cecil.
Serah smiled weakly, lifting a hand to wave as well. Thanks, she thought, catching Riku's message. She hoped that he wouldn't tell Lightning that he already knew about her decision; Serah had forgotten to mention that on the phone. But if Riku knew Lightning like she thought he did, then he would know better than to let her know they had been talking about the girl who had just gotten done putting on her helmet.

Riku lowered his arm, climbing back onto his bike and starting the engine again. Once Lightning was ready, they would head out. He didn't plan on going back to the apartment, though; there were some other things he had in mind.
Lightning wrapped her arms around Riku after she sat down behind him, though she didn't hold him as tightly as she had earlier. There was no need to, considering that they weren't being rushed away from the scene. There wasn't a single reporter or paparazzi in sight, thank goodness. Hopefully it would stay that way.

Riku started away from the house and down the street, going at an easy pace since there was no rush. After today's events, he knew that he needed to take out some anger, and surely Lightning wanted to as well. And what better place was there to blow off some steam than his gym?
It didn't take Lightning too long to notice that they weren't heading towards Riku's house. But the area they were travelling in was familiar somehow, so she didn't bother yelling over the engine and asking where they were going. By the time they arrived at their destination, she knew where they were and why there were there. They were at the gym, to let out some anger.

Riku parked his bike near the back, as he usually did. Not only would nobody think the gym was open, but none of the paparazzi would know they were here. He turned the engine off and leaned back slightly, lifting his hands to pull his helmet off. He figured Lightning realized what they were doing now, so he wouldn't bother explaining.
Lightning took her hands back and stepped off the bike, removing the helmet and eyeing the gym. She appreciated the thought, but she had sort of wanted to go back to Riku's apartment right away to tell him the news. Maybe she would just have to tell him here, because if she didn't, he would notice that something was wrong. "Riku," she started, turning to face him with the helmet in her hands.

Riku could tell by that tone that Lightning was going to tell him something important, and he had a hunch that it was going to be about Cecil. He took the helmet from her and got up from the bike, setting both helmets on the bike seats and grabbing his keys. "I know," he said, stopping her before she began. "But trust me, you'll thank me for this later." He smirked slightly as he started toward the back door to the gym, getting his key out. It was time they blew off some steam, and he stalled.
Lightning blinked in surprise when Riku interrupted, but she followed him to the gym door. "What do you know?" she asked in confusion. He had said he knew something; what could that have been? Surely not her decision about Cecil. Serah wouldn't have had enough time to tell that to Riku on the phone, since Lightning had only been gone a minute or two.

"That you're wondering what we're doing here," Riku said, covering his own behind with the lie. But he was a smooth talker, so he doubted Lightning would be able to catch anything. He unlocked the back door, as he usually did, and pushed the door open, stepping inside. He figured she'd like to take out some frustration on the punching bag, and if not that, then him. He would gladly be her trainer tonight.
"It's pretty obvious, isn't it?" Lightning asked as they stepped inside. Riku wanted her to get out some of her anger instead of keeping it all bottled inside. But now that she had made a decision about Cecil, she was calmer than before. Instead of wondering about her course of action, the path was now set and the anger was bottled deep so she could follow through. She wasn't sure she wanted to bring it to the surface again.

Riku nodded, shutting the door behind Lightning. "I figured you needed to release some of that pent up anger you always got in you," he said, lightly nudging her in the shoulder when he passed her and started down the small hall. "And what better target than me?" He could take it, he was sure, and he could train her in the process. He knew Lightning always wanted to get stronger.

Light blinked, staying where she was as she watched Riku walk further down the hall. "You?" she repeated. "Why would I want to target you?" And why would you let me? Last time we did this, you were concerned about attacking a minor. Something wasn't right here. What was it?

"Because I'm training you tonight," Riku said, stopping at the end of the hall, by another door. He looked back at Lightning, his smirk still in tact. "And I can take a hit." He winked at Lightning briefly before continuing through the gym, opening the door and going through. He wouldn't attack her in retaliation, though; she would be targeting his hands tonight, much like she did not too long ago.
Then when my punches aren't strong, you'll think it's because I don't want to hurt you, Lightning though silently. This could work in her favor. But being honest with Riku was still the better path to take. She followed him to the gym, wishing he'd just stand still so that she could talk to him about the choice that she made.

Riku caught Lightning's footsteps not too far behind him, and he only continued over to the light switch not too far off. He flipped it on, illuminating the area. The gym was just as he left it earlier, so everything would be in its correct spot. He set his keys down on the front counter and started over toward the area he and Lightning would be. He would grab the pads, and she would take the gloves.
Riku was still moving around too much, and Lightning had a feeling he wouldn't listen to her. He would only think that she was protesting going against him. Her only choice for now was to go with it. She shrugged off her coat and set it to the side while she retrieved a pair of gloves and began to put them on. She'd still go easy on Riku though, for more than one reason. He wasn't going to get hurt because of her.

Riku had his jacket off by now, and he tossed it on a nearby bench before reaching for the pads. He slipped them on and stood in front of Lightning, ready when she was. "You know better than to hold back," he told her, able to read in her posture how hesitant she was about this. She needed to take out every bit of frustration on him, and he would understand why: she needed it, and he was half the reason the press were all over them. He was pretty famous on the Islands.
Lightning actually sighed, glancing over to the side and then up to Riku's eyes. "I don't want to do this," she finally said. Yet she had on her gloves and Riku had on the pads, so it seemed as if they were about to go at it. This wasn't just about not wanting to hurt him; she just didn't feel like bringing up the anger again. It was safer bottled up.

Riku didn't lift his hands. Instead, he kept his hands by his sides, lifting an eyebrow. "You seemed pretty upset today," he acknowledged. "I figured you'd want to take it out on someone." Did Serah change that? She was pretty good at calming Lightning down, he supposed. But still, Riku knew how upset she was with the press today; it wasn't that hard to miss.
"I did earlier," Lightning said. "But I've buried those feelings now. I'd rather not get worked up again." Keeping it in wasn't healthy, but she wasn't sure what would happen if she fully unleashed her anger. She never did before, after all. Bits and pieces, but never everything. If she did, she'd never be the same.

Riku shrugged, then starting to pull off the pads. "Okay, then what do you suggest?" he asked. If Lightning started talking about Cecil, or something close to that, he would distract her again. He didn't want to hear about it, since it didn't make him happy. But he also promised Serah he would stall. That was what he was going to do.
Lightning shrugged, starting to take off her gloves. "Do you think the press is still hovering around your apartment?" If not, maybe they could just head home for the night. She wouldn't mind just sitting around--and maybe using Riku's laptop to look for a job. He wouldn't be pleased with her for that though. Could she butter him up somehow?
