Rude Awakening (1x1 with Peanut)

Posted

As some of you may know, Peanut and I are crazy about Roleplaying, and it's clear, since this is the second one on this site that belongs to us. And we aren't even done with the first one! Regardless, that won't stop us from starting this new roleplay, Rude Awakening!

Kinda dark and mysterious title, eh?

As stated in the title, this RP is one on one, no exceptions. Please refrain from posting in the RP. Instead, follow us on this new journey!

Peanut, my amazing friend, let's begin!

Riku nodded, humming as well. It wasn't that late, so they would be out there for a little bit longer. He and Lightning had some time to kill, so she would have to come up with something if working out wasn't in her interest.
Lightning looked around, trying to think of something to do. She had to ease up to the conversation somehow. "Um," she said dumbly, eyeing the Struggle bats on the opposite side of the gym from the punching bag. "See if you can stand over there and throw the bats at the punching bag." A stupid challenge, but now that she made it, she was curious. How good was Riku's throwing? And his aim in general?

Riku couldn't help but smile in amusement, setting the pads down as he wordlessly made his way towards the bats. This would be interesting, he was sure. He approached the bats, which weren't easily broken after all their use. Throwing them wouldn't do anything harmful to them. He picked one up and tossed it lightly into the air, catching it half a second later. He looked back over at Lightning, lifting an eyebrow. You sure you want to challenge me?
"Go ahead, Keyblade wielder," Lightning taunted lightly, taking a few steps away to give him some space. "I'm waiting." She was pretty sure that Riku would do well, but still, they had some time to kill. Why not indulge it in stupid stuff like this instead of getting worked up again? This was definitely the better option.

Riku smirked again, gazing at Lightning for a second longer than he normally would have. But then he turned his attention to the punching bag across the way. Shouldn't be too hard, he thought, gribbing the bat. If he could throw the Keyblade at enemies, he could do this. He clenched his jaw in concentration and took a step forward, grunting as he chucked the bat toward the punching bag. It twirled through the air vertically before hitting the punching bag with a loud smack.
Lightning rolled her eyes when the bat struck the punching bag. It was pretty obvious that Riku had thrown things before. Probably the Keyblade. It's so weird to think of him as a warrior, she thought as she turned her eyes back to him. Yeah, he's got the brawn and appears threatening to cruel people, but he's so...human. He was more human than warrior. Not a killing machine.

Riku put a fist to his hip and gave Lightning a look. Surely she wouldn't have him keep doing this if it was that easy. Or would she like to take a turn? "Your turn," he told her, a smirk on his lips. Hopefully she wouldn't be too bad; he didn't want a broken window.
Lightning hmphed, smirking as she started over towards where Riku was. She could at least come close. She had the strength to get the the bat to the punching bag, at least. Reaching down and grabbing one, she twirled it lightly in her hand before eyeing the bat. Can't let Riku beat you easily. You know his ego.

"Don't break my window," Riku said into Lightning's ear, passing her afterward so he could get out of the way. He was just taunting her of course, but he did mean it. A broken window wasn't a good reward for this kind of behavior.
Lightning rolled her eyes again, knowing that hitting the window wasn't an option. Her aim wasn't going to be too off. She pulled back her arm after a few seconds and sent the bat flying towards the bag. It twirled the same as Riku's, but it only skimmed the right side of the bag instead of hitting the center of it like Riku did. That's a shame.

Riku crossed his arms, happy to see the bat hit the ground and then slide into the wall. "Well, at least you didn't hit my window," he said, looking over at Lightning. He was trying to lighten the mood a bit, to keep Lightning's mind off Cecil and the press, and the trial. He knew that would be uncomfortable for her if she really did go through with it.
"You're just happy your throw was better than mine," Lightning declared with an arched brow. He couldn't deny that it had been a good throw, though. After all, no other girl would have even gotten close to hitting the bag. Strength and good aim didn't often go together.

Riku shrugged, though he couldn't help but smile. Yeah, that was true; he was happy he didn't get beaten by a girl. He was a guy after all, so he had an ego naturally. "Any other bright ideas?" he asked, curious. That couldn't be it, could it?
"Nope," Lightning said as she leaned back against the wall. "Your turn to choose." She wasn't an extremely creative person, so she didn't think she could come up with another idea anyway. Maybe it was time to tell Riku about her decision with Cecil....

Riku looked up in thought, but that was when his eyebrows furrowed. "Hmph," he grunted, already mapping out a course in his head. "The rafters." He lifted a hand to point to them. "Parkour. Jump off the bench, against the wall, push off the bag, and grab the rafters." He walked a little as he pointed out the course. The ceiling was fifteen feet high, tops. That was a challenge.
"Alright," Lightning agreed after a second. That seemed doable. "Show me how it's done." She would laugh if Riku failed his first attempt on a course that he designed, though. Had he ever done this before, or was this off the top of his head? She supposed it didn't matter, really. She was ready to see this.

Riku's eyes found Lightning's and he smiled again. He nodded silently as he got a good distance away from the bench where he needed to start. In order to do this, he would need a running start for momentum. He set one foot behind the other as he got ready to run, eyebrows furrowing in concentration, and then he took off. Riku sprinted toward the bench, jumped on it, and then pushed off it to hit the wall. He used the force from his leap to push off against the wall as well, leaping to grab the punching bag as it hung from the ceiling. Riku set his feet and then climbed the chain using his upper body strength, and once he was at the top, he grabbed onto the rafter. He pulled himself up to sit on top of it, letting his legs dangle. It was then that he looked down at Lightning, breathing heavily from the adrenaline pumping through his veins.

Lightning arched a brow at Riku, glancing at the swinging punching bag. "Grabbing the chain seems a little cheap," she stated. He climbed about two feet of the distance. If she would do the same, that would have been easier than her own plan of just using pure momentum. Do whatever is easiest. You can't lose again. Riku's ego wasn't big enough that he shoved his last victory in her face, but if they added up, he would get arrogant.

Riku smiled a little, looking at his feet. "Alright," he said, staying where he was for the moment. "Let's see you do better." If Lightning was so confident, she could go without the chain. He would like to see her try.
"Okay," Lightning agreed with a smirk. Her expression turned serious though as she walked back to where Riku had started. She'd do something similar, but she'd use her lightness to make up for the lack of climbing. Riku didn't say she couldn't use the wall twice after all. She took in a breath before she ran, easily jumping onto the bench and not dropping to the ground despite its narrowness. She jumped off the edge of that and felt the rubber soles of her boots connect with the wall. One step. She pushed off and did a flip, feeling her foot connect with the top of the punching bag. Perfect. She grunted with the push and went for the wall, turning right before it and getting a foot on it. Pushing backwards one more time, she was high enough to grab onto the rafter. She took a second more to swing herself up so she was sitting though, panting a few soft breaths. I did it.

Riku blinked, though his smile remained. "Impressive," he praised, looking at the person near him now. He just hoped Lightning didn't have a problem getting down. She could easily get hurt doing that if she wasn't careful.
"I'd say I won this round," Lightning said with a smirk. She lifted a hand and brushed her bangs out of her face a little bit, though a few strands naturally fell close to one of her eyes. She did this challenge with pure momentum, not climbing like Riku did. She deserved some credit for that one.

"So it's a tie, then," Riku said with a nod. He looked down at the ground, tearing his eyes from Lightning. Nothing was more attractive than a girl with strength and confidence...and Lightning had both. He would give this round to her, that was for sure.
"It's a tie," Lightning agreed, following Riku's gaze to the ground. "Getting down could be a whole other challenge though." How exactly were they supposed to do this? There was probably some risky way to doing it, like sliding down the chain of the punching bag, but that wasn't a good idea. Yet no other options were presenting themselves to her.

Riku's smile grew with pride. "That's when being a Keyblade wielder has its perks," he said. He glanced over at Lightning before putting both hands on the rafter. He then looked down and with a grunt, pushed himself from the ledge. He landed smoothly on his feet a few seconds later, grunting slightly with the landing as his knees bent a little. He was steady, and that was when Riku turned to gaze at Lightning. That challenge had been accepted.
