Rude Awakening (1x1 with Peanut)

Posted

As some of you may know, Peanut and I are crazy about Roleplaying, and it's clear, since this is the second one on this site that belongs to us. And we aren't even done with the first one! Regardless, that won't stop us from starting this new roleplay, Rude Awakening!

Kinda dark and mysterious title, eh?

As stated in the title, this RP is one on one, no exceptions. Please refrain from posting in the RP. Instead, follow us on this new journey!

Peanut, my amazing friend, let's begin!

"I won two of the three, then," Lightning said with a small smirk, starting to feel more like herself again even if her hands were still holding Riku's. "What do I win?" She wasn't sure what she could want out of Riku, but she was going to milk this for what it was worth. That was what he did when he won the triathlon by a few steps, after all.

Riku looked down at Lightning, keeping her hands in his as his smirk remained. "I could think of a few things," he said, noticing how close they stood. He suddenly had an urge...an urge he hadn't anticipated. But...if she withdrew moments ago from simply being so close, he wouldn't follow through with the urge. It would make things awkward, and right now, that was the last thing he wanted with her.
"Oh yeah?" Light encouraged, looking up at Riku and also realizing the close proximity. Definitely not just friends. Unless he treats all girls like this. She was sad to admit it, even to herself, but he seemed like he could be a flirt. She'd have to investigate that, but for now, she kept her hands in his and her eyes locked onto Riku's aquas.

"Mm," Riku hummed with a small nod, though his smirk softened. "But I'll let you decide. What do you want?" Lightning won fair and square, he supposed, so he would do her bidding. Whatever she wanted, she would get.
"What I want right now is to hear what your ideas are," Lightning said, her lips still turned up slightly but mostly faded. She'd hear whatever Riku thought of, and then make her own decision. Dinner was an obvious choice for her, since she hadn't eaten since lunch and it was now dark outside.

Riku looked away, as if pondering the idea of telling Lightning his thoughts. "...Nah," he said finally, looking back down at her. "You decide, and you'll get it." He would do what she wanted, like he already silently promised. She won, so it was her choice.
Light rolled her eyes, looking out the window as she thought it over. "...Just dinner," she said after a few moments. "Dinner at a place where we won't get swarmed by paparazzi." Riku would probably know better than she would which places they could escape to. Personally, she was in the mood for pasta.

Riku's lips turned up more into a smirk when Lightning rolled her eyes, though his gaze stayed on her. "I can make that happen," he told her. He knew just the place, too. It was along the beach, but a small place. He used to eat there all the time, but since he hadn't in a while, the paparazzi would have no idea he was there.
"Alright," Lightning agreed. She finally slipped her hands out of Riku's, though it wasn't for the same reason as before. This time, it was more practical. She walked over and picked up her coat from where she tossed it earlier, starting to put it on. She knew she'd need it, since it was pretty chilly outside.

While Lightning got her coat on, Riku busied himself with picking up the two bats they threw at the punching bag. He put them back where they belonged before starting toward his own jacket, also needing to get his keys. He doubted this dinner would actually be considered a date, since he and Lightning were just friends. Or would it be more, since they recently discovered their feelings for each other?

"One more thing I want," Lightning said, looking up at the ceiling after her jacket was zipped up. "Kill the rat." She couldn't see him now, but she hoped that she never would again. How did Riku know about the rat and yet let him live? Those things were pests.

Riku slid his arms through the sleeves of his jacket, turning to look at Lightning. He glanced up at the rafters and only shook his head. "Alright," he said, grabbing his keys. He had a thing for letting the rat live, since he knew a mouse that happened to be one of his friends. But he would explain that another day.
Light nodded, satisfied for now. She'd hold him to that though. She started towards the exit, grabbing the hair that was normally over her shoulder and putting it behind her. It'd be easier to put on the helmet if her hair was back further away. But didn't girls often play with hair when flirting with guys? ...Was she doing that?

Riku followed Lightning out, locking the back door once they were outside. He wouldn't actually kill the rat, though; he would just let him go. Of course, he would do that a couple miles away from the gym, that way he wouldn't return to the gym when Lightning was around. Riku would probably get a lecture. The young man turned and approached his bike, grabbing it by the handlebars and turning it so it could face the street. He hoped Lightning liked the restuarant they were heading to. It had pretty much everything for a place so small.
Lightning didn't bother asking Riku where they were going; she doubted she would know the place anyway since she didn't eat out often. That was too expensive. Instead, she rode on the bike behind him and held him. Not just held onto him. Instead of grabbing her own wrist to stay secure, she actually allowed one of her hands to sit on Riku's stomach during the ride. It was a comfortable way to ride, that was for sure.

Riku had a small smirk on his face the entire ride to the restaurant, feeling Lightning's arms around him and her hand on his stomach. Giving her rides had made him feel different before, but not this different. Not this good. He took a turn, starting down a road next to the beach as he headed toward the restaurant. I really have to stop being such a sap... If Sora caught him in the act, he was screwed.
When Lightning and Riku entered the restaurant, she noticed that it was a decent place. They fit in with the clothes they had on (Lightning donning her black leather coat and dark blue jeans), but anything more casual would have been inappropriate. They even were seated at a table. And judging by how they were put in a round booth for just the two of them to sit close in, they were being considered a couple. Was that good or bad?

Riku looked around the area, seeing that the restaurant was the same as he left it a long time ago. "This place hasn't changed a bit," he said, sitting near the middle of the round booth, near Lightning. It was odd, since they were considered a couple. Given the tension between them, or so he assumed was tension, he didn't doubt that people would mistake them for that.
"It's a nice place," Lightning stated, glancing down at the menu that was in front of them. A single menu for the pair of them. She picked it up and opened it, though she had to have it a little closer to her than Riku because of the lighting. Why didn't they brighten things up a bit? It was a little challenging to read the menu. It's the atmosphere. It's a place couples probably come to a lot. "Come here before for any special occasion?" Like a date?

Riku looked away from the restaurant and to the person at his side, thinking he sensed a bit of an edge behind her tone. He ignored it, though, focusing on answering. "A couple times in the past," he said, though it had been months since he'd been here last. That was why no paparazzi were around, though he did see a few people glancing over at his and Lightning's booth. Hopefully the lighting was a bit too dark for them to see them completely.
Lightning hummed and let the question drop. After what they experienced earlier, the last thing that she wanted was a fight. Especially in a public place. She looked over the menu, tilting her head a little bit as she tried to decipher it. She understood they were trying to create a mood, but still. She was in the mood to be able to read the menu.

Riku saw the look on Lightning's face, able to see clearly due to his time in Darkness. He could see she was struggling, so he lifted an arm to the lamp that hung over their table. He turned a small knob, illuminating their table a bit more so she could see. The mood the restaurant usually tried to create wouldn't work today.
"How'd you know there was a knob?" Lightning asked with a small smirk, glancing up at the light bulb. She never would have thought of the possibility that the light could be made brighter. Maybe she was just ignorant about eating out; perhaps this was how restaurants normally were. If that was the case, Riku would have to forgive her ignorance.

"I've been here a few times, remember?" Riku reminded the girl, moving a little closer to her and setting an arm behind her on the booth. He needed to look at the menu too, since he hadn't been here in a while. He wasn't sure what he was even going to order, even if he should have known the menu like the back of his hand.
"Right," Lightning said, bringing the menu closer to Riku and holding it between them. That made sense. At least he didn't make her feel like an idiot for asking the question. On the contrary, she felt so comfortable that she wanted to lean into his side while he sat so close to her. She didn't do that, but she did let her side touch his.
