Rude Awakening (1x1 with Peanut)

Posted

As some of you may know, Peanut and I are crazy about Roleplaying, and it's clear, since this is the second one on this site that belongs to us. And we aren't even done with the first one! Regardless, that won't stop us from starting this new roleplay, Rude Awakening!

Kinda dark and mysterious title, eh?

As stated in the title, this RP is one on one, no exceptions. Please refrain from posting in the RP. Instead, follow us on this new journey!

Peanut, my amazing friend, let's begin!

Riku glanced over at Lightning when he felt her gaze on him, briefly looking at her before he focused on his food. Sora was already chowing down, so he might as well do the same. He was paying for the meal anyway.
The air did eventually lighten again when Sora started conversation. The guy was good at taking away tension; Lightning had to admit that. She ate mostly in silence, still thinking over everything. If Riku wasn't going to protest anymore, then she was going through with her plan. Even after he paid the check and they were getting ready to leave, he hadn't said anything more about it. Was that really all the backlash she had to face?

Kairi gave Riku a loving pat on the arm, smiling up at him. "Thank you for dinner, Riku," she said. "We really are grateful." It wasn't too expensive for all four of them, but it did save Sora and Kairi some money.

Riku smirked, lightly nudging his best friend to get her off his arm. "You're welcome," he muttered. He hadn't seen Sora and Kairi much, so it was the least he could do, he guessed. Things had just been so hectic lately. Hopefully they would get time to see each other again.

"Let us know how things turn out," Sora said to both Riku and Lightning. It was impossible to forget what was going on with them. Whatever decision Lightning made in the end, he hoped that it was the best one. His gut told him that giving into Cecil wasn't the right thing to do, but it wasn't his choice to make. It was hers. "We'll see you guys again soon."

Riku lifted a hand to wave to his friends, standing just outside the restaurant as he watched his friends start to go back to their car. He would hope things turned out for the best, but he couldn't be sure. He had a feeling Lightning was making the wrong decision here, but she probably wouldn't listen to him. Or so he thought.
Lightning stood quietly by Riku's side, though she lifted a hand to wave faintly to Sora and Kairi. A cool breeze shifted her hair, pushing it behind her shoulders and giving her a chill. "Let's go," she requested quietly, glancing over at Riku. She just wanted to go home.

Riku nodded slightly, lowering his hand and instead stepping past Lightning to reach his bike. It was only a few parking spaces over. He dug his keys out of his pocket and grabbed the helmets from the bike, holding Lightning's out for her. It wouldn't take too long to get home, and he highly doubted that the press were outside the apartment still. It was too late for that.
Light put on the helmet and then sat behind Riku in silence for the ride home. Of course the silence wasn't unusual; it was hard to have conversation on a motorcycle. She did sit similar to how she did earlier though, except for the fact that she leaned the side of her helmet against Riku's back for the ride. She was really tired and drained and just...She didn't know. She just wanted out of the situation.

Like Riku had predicted, the paparazzi were gone when he pulled up to the apartment complex. He went around back, as he normally did, so his bike wouldn't get stolen. Once there, he and Lightning hopped off and he led her inside. He wasn't necessarily tired, but he did have some thinking to do. A lot of thinking.
Upon entering Riku's apartment, Lightning wasn't sure what to do with herself. Things between her and Riku felt tense now, but that was only because of the decision that she made. It's either I give into Cecil or we do a fake relationship, she thought silently as she sat down on the couch. Something had to change.

Riku took off his jacket, throwing it over a barstool in the kitchen as he set his keys down on the counter. He stood at the counter for a moment, running his hand over his face as he thought about the predicament he and Lightning were in. She either gave into Cecil, which he didn't approve of, or they went through with Sora and Kairi's idea. But that couldn't end well, either, could it? Not unless they made the best of it. But would Lightning be up for it?
Lightning leaned her head against the side of the couch, looking down at the ground with half-open eyes. She wished that she were in Riku's arms again. Despite the serious conversation that they had earlier, that had been the best time that she had in a very long time. It wasn't going to happen though, or so she supposed.

"...Lightning?" Riku called from where he stood, turning his head and looking toward the living room. He started in that direction, running a hand through his short hair. They really needed to have a talk. He was against the Cecil plan, so they would have to go for the fake relationship. If she didn't mind, of course.
Lightning opened her eyes completely, looking up to see Riku enter the room. She didn't even bother answering him verbally, since it was obvious that he had her attention. They both knew what this conversation was going to be about. And now that they were in private, she feared his argument would convince her not to speak to Cecil. He was good at that type of thing.

Riku stayed standing, stopping just inside the room. He looked at Lightning and then to the ground, rubbing the back of his neck. "...I think we should go with Sora's plan," he said. In other words, the fake relationship. It would be more difficult, but Lightning wouldn't have to surrender to such a kook. It seemed like the better option.
Why do we have to fake it? Lightning thought as she followed Riku's gaze to the ground. But...If he was willing to try it... "It wouldn't be too hard, right?" she asked quietly. Sora just suggested they act a little flirtatious in front of the press. They already had that romantic tension, or so it seemed...They could pull if off, but did she really want to? She didn't want to be fake with Riku, and she didn't want him being fake with her either.

Riku shrugged, looking to the side as his hand stayed against the back of his neck. "I guess not," he said. He at least hoped it wouldn't be...and honestly didn't think it would. After what happened at the gym, he thought they could pull it off pretty well.
Lightning looked down at her lap, knowing that she didn't want Riku bringing up the gym. She wanted to believe that was completely real and nothing could imitate that. "...I'll sleep on it," she said quietly. That was the best answer Riku could expect from her right now. She'd think about it and let him know tomorrow what she decided.

Riku looked up at Lightning then, lowering his hand. He nodded a little. "Yeah...okay," he said. He then moved again, actually feeling a little unsettled. He left the room then, going back into the kitchen so he could get himself something to drink. This whole thing was making him feel...different.

Lightning tilted her head at Riku's abrupt exit, confused. Unable to help herself, she picked herself up and headed to the kitchen as well. She only stopped in the doorway, leaning against it and keeping her eyes on Riku once he was in her sights. "Is there a reason why you're so...unsettled?" That was the only word she could think to describe him with.

Riku was about to open the fridge when he heard the question, and he stopped in place, hand lingering on the handle. His eyebrows came together as he thought about the question, not sure how to answer. He...didn't really know, why he was so worked up over this. Maybe he just didn't want Lightning to feel uncomfortable, or maybe because he didn't want to fake anything.
Lightning studied Riku for a few seconds, her head still tilted. He didn't seem to know what was up with himself, so there was no point in trying to dig it out of him. He was just tired and so was she. So, so tired of this situation and being trapped.

"...How do you think it's not going to be hard?" Riku asked lowly, still staring at the fridge. He wanted to know how Lightning figured this would be so easy. He wasn't really sure it would be; he honestly thought it would make things more complicated...between the two of them.
Light glanced down to her feet. "Sora said something earlier," she said quietly. "That the press already thinks we are a couple because of how we act now. So...maybe nothing would have to change except that we say that we're in a relationship." That was the only part of this she thought would be easy.

Riku shook his head, turning around and looking at the girl in the doorway. "They're going to want more than that," he told her. He knew from experience how pushy the press could be. Sora and Kairi were practically in love with each other when they did their fake relationship anyway, so it was easier for them. But Riku and Lightning? He didn't think it was the same.
